@@jameslee1062 Point taken. But even so, I am reluctant to praise Rybakina's performance. It's all too common on the ladies' tour for one of the players to make a strategic choice to mail in an entire set. What an absolute serving clinic put on by these two. Granted I'd have loved to see Azarenka come through in this match but Rybakina is just too calm and collected to get flustered. She played so well and Azarenka was so solid. I thought when she got that break back and Rybakina dumped that easy volley into the net to get ahead in the third that Rybakina would crumble. She did not. She just stayed steady and played her Serena like magic serves when she needed them the most and came out with the win. So many three set matches and she did not seem gassed or tired. She's in very good condition!

How can you bully someone in a no contact sport?
@AFCompany29 күн бұрын
@@AFCompany Pace of play, aggressive tactics, argumentative, general aggressive attitude on court. It's subtle but I've watched her from early in her career and she is intimidating on the court. Of course, then there was that minor contact with Sharapova as they finished a point and headed to their respective seats. She bullied her way through Sharapova as if she wasn't there. In my defense, I did say "somewhat".

@@Rick9482 Azarenka has said herself she had such a big ego in 2012-2013 and was very immature. Tennis is very mental as you know and being intimidating is a big thing. The bumping Sharapova was a bit of bullying but the time outs and other antics was just bad sportsmanship. I think today she is extremely respectful of all the players, I just think all the energy pumps her up and makes her play better.
@AFCompany29 күн бұрын
@@AFCompany That's a pretty accurate assessment of Azarenka. She's grown up a lot since having a child. I remember early on in her career before she became dominant, her carrying on over injuries and just faking shit to just get some sort of an advantage turned me off her for good. I still feel her two AO wins were convoluted victories with lots of gamesmanship. I still don't like her although but maybe that's just me. I think Rybakina is a genuine sweetheart of a young tennis player. I just love her serving motion.....very repeatable IMO. In regard to likability, I think Azarenka is the odd ball out as most of the women on tour come across as very likable. Collins, who has a good chance of winning, comes across as very grim. I never see her smile and she just doesn't look like she's enjoying the process. Her health issues aside, I watch tennis to enjoy myself and I can't find any joy watching her.
