    • In Russia (and other European post-Soviet countries, i.e. Ukraine, White Ruthenia and Baltics) the thing was actually developed by LARPers (and it wasn't uncommon for a HMF team to double as a LARP collective). Fantasy LARP was huge there back in the nineties with the surge of popularity of LoTR (and Silmarillion - First Age roleplay was also a thing), Dragonlance and Witcher saga, and heavily influenced the medieval reenactment and historical fighting scene. To be fair, it was (and is) usually much more hardcore then Western LARP to the point of combat in some games looking little different from what you see in the video.
