Armoured Knights League: Team USA v England in the 16 v 16 team battles at Scone Palace, Scotland. This was one of the full-contact large scale team battles at the end of the 2018 International Medieval Combat Federation (IMCF) World Championship, with Team USA winning gold in the 16 v 16 battles.
Imagine losing a medieval battle to a nation that didn’t even exist until the 18th century
Problem is that most English people that fight in this see it as a fun hobby, whereas the Americans fighters take it seriously.
@@asparadog kind of like how Americans see soccer as a hobby.
@Vincent Vermeer All we were all spawned by Africans. We're talking about nations here, not lineage. And the US made pretty damn sure to make some key, fundamental differences in its nation from its parent.
@Vincent Vermeer firstly, it's a joke. Stop taking things so seriously. Second, America does NOT have this tradition, and never did. Hell, the British colonies were not founded until after the medieval age.
I want to join in on this sport. My ancestry comes from English knights on one side and Swiss/German knights on the other. I love medieval combat, armor and weapons. I think its in my blood and I'm amazed I didn't get into it sooner.
This is what the American Revolution was missing
CC 96 420 line battles are still better tbh
I'm being serious that's what the revolution was no joke it was hell 😎🇺🇲
@@placeholder8768 Nah, pre-knight warfare was great, romans etc, sword fighting except theyre not so big and heavy that 90% of the fight isnt just pushing and shoving, this is still great tho, super tough armour
Rogue Jedi it was to the death in scotland. Clans would go 30v30 to the death. In front of the King and his court, to settle disputes and feuds.

I wish this was an olympic sport.
is it not? there are tournements though
Very fun and entertaining to watch for sure!
These aren't the Olympics?
I would watch the olympics if this was a sport
Does anybody know how you can tell which team that win? Like are there points or what? Do they count as dead if they fall or gets put down on the ground?
Can we take a moment to appreciate the great sportsmanship among these teams.

Watching these makeshift battles helps me understand how utterly chaotic and quick to finish were actual battles back in the day.
Yeah it was truly brutal. Imagine training your whole life from a small child to a teenager and then you go to battle only to get clunked in the head by a big metal ball and then stabbed in the face while your on the ground
@@thesmokingtoad2836 Getting with a mace or halberds anything that wasn't a katana could kill you
@@krieger8825 A katana would be no picnic either.
Actual medieval battles world be 100x worse tho lol, large majority of people with little to no armour so people are getting cut down left, right and centre.
@@colinmerritt7645 against plate armor? No. Don’t even try to revive that dead debate lmfao
As much as it pains me as an Englishmen I must say the US colours look great on plate armour, especially those tabards, and I actually find myself disliking the English team’s colours, which is made worse by the fact the tabard I think those are called cover up too much of the armour and make them look fat. But I really like the armour on the guys without any covering.
@Hydra Force The union flag could have looked really badass to If the did it well but sadly the tabards just don't look well Designed, the America flag design is fucking fantastic though for a country the usually would fit in.
I'd pay to see the classic medieval English flag
The English looked great to buddy. We love ya.
Agreed. Worst thing about the English teams colors is that it seems like it would be really easy to have a kick butt design with so many classics to pull from. Still great show. These guys are awesome.
quartered tabards always look best in my opinion.
Knight version of Independence Day.
True, in both cases the English team did not care for the outcome of the fight.
@@saokdjijhasd people forget about that a lot we were more concerned about the French taking Jamaica and our money making countries
American here. This looks amazingly fun. I've always loved medieval history and weaponry and if the armour and weapons weren't so crazy expensive I would definitely get into this sport.
Go for it, it's what they did back then for fun no reason not to now

As an American, thank you, for all the British, Australians and New Zealanders who fought beside us in every war!! We are not taught in our schools for your bravery. Once again, thank you!!
That's false I'll give you we don't here much about australia and new zealand but I mean we can't learn about either World War with out learning about the british in it mostly because both times we came in after them to help them that wasn't the only reason we were also attacked but still
You forgot Canadians. I don’t think they’ve ever lost a war they’ve participated in either.
That's why it's crucial to study history on your own. There are so many incredible stories of what other allied countries did in WW2 that aren't really taught in US history courses. I understand focusing on our part, but there needs to still be time spent on breaking down most of the whole picture. World War 2, despite the horrible circumstances, displayed some of the most incredible feats in human history.

yeah Canada too, thanks for the support yall
How did I not know this was a sport? Sign me up!
They need better video coverage. like a top side camera on a wire.
yeah, or at least a better cameraperson in general, the one actually controlling the camera felt it was better to show us what the referee looked like over anything else
Lol I don’t think they can afford that
@@Chef_Daddy they can afford those armor suits.

If the revolution was 300 years earlier
You mean before the New World was discovered?
no you can't colonize america with this. aztecs, incas, and other american warriors are equally good with spears and bows. the only advantage you have is that you have muskets and guns.
@@hariananalisa9236 guns existed in the 14th century. Firearms were invented in 1360s. They were just very difficult to produce. However armor plating was in the prime of its production. All in all with a revoltion 300 years earlier. Its a cool concept.
The lady screaming "walk it off" is the best part
I think the sportsmanship shown in the field is underrated fr, after a hard fight they all just hugged it out and instead of actually fighting or throwing the win in there faces and thats beautiful to genuinely show kindness to eachother. Sportsmanship like that is what keeps me and others to keep on enjoying armored combat and larps
Imagine being a 155 pound British guy that likes history getting rocked by a 350 6’6 drunk dude that couldn’t find saxony on a map

Shiny Americans lol. Good for them eh? That was nice to watch. This is much more tactical than I thought it would be. Quite impressive!
The lack of battle cries is super disappointing
Good fight, both teams looked good although, as usual America bring the biggest weapons and people they can find lol
How and where does one get into a sport such as this, this looks insanely fun
I'm guessing you need a lot of money to start with.
@@sam8404 like 5K USD from what I hear for the gear
This is amazing
@@sam8404ehhhh starter kits are like 1.5k-2k, this is the highest level so their gear is obviously all incredibly high end. Also you don't have to and frankly should not buy armor for a WHILE after starting. I've been in the sport for like half a year at this point and I'm only now starting to buy armor, you really just need training gear (which is like a few hundred bucks total) and can borrow someone else from your chapter's armor in a pinch if you really want to fight
Simon is prolly my favorite, if I had to pick. He hits hard and, from what i've seen, has very good awareness.

Amazing sportsmanship just a couple of guys having fun
Just discovered this. Will occupy my "wish I could..." fantasies for a few weeks. Thanks 😉
You can see in this video that these two teams have great sportsmanship, now people are arguing in the comments about England being better and American being better than each other
How do you get into this ? It looks like a ton of fun
Looks incredible and no doubt before silly Hollywood made Knights in armour straight in combat, a lot of guys were quite hesitant
For some reason I really want the Vatican to field a team.
As an American born Scotsman, I LOVE this!
America with the surprise takedowns, truly an interesting match
Armour, historically accurate, weapons sure. Physical exertion 100 percent depending on what you are doing, combat skills hmmm.
Braemar Media, this looks really interesting and fun. I got a question, is the goal to try and put down the opponents on the ground to count them as ''dead'' or is there another way? Also is there any rules or can you take them down however you want?

Usa have great Armour, they stylish. Is their a welsh team at all and how often is this event because I love it. Should be on tv all the time.
Where is the music? How more badass would it be with drums in the background
Imagine taking the best American football players and putting them in this
What is the region/era of the armor with the thick roll on the helmet on the Brit? Ty in advance
I’m both so I love both
I understand it to be a historical fact that two armies, with the same relative fighting skills, one with swords and the other with pole arms, the pole arms are gonna take the day, which is why pole arms were far more common as a primary weapon in the past, and the sword was historically considered a secondary weapon.
We need a Welsh team put together 😁axe and sheild in hand for me haha
we missed out on the middle ages so now we play hard catchup...
We didn’t miss out on the Middle Ages our ancestors were doing this in Europe at the time. We simply got the adventure bug and conquered a new land while the British stayed home in comfy England 😉
Then we came back to take the trophy
The key to this is all the heavy tank guys on american side and the heavy long weapons they use to smash the other side and ram through like tanks.

Was one of the brits wearing ottoman sipahi armor, idk it looks really similar
"there are no weapons which will make a difference"....well, a pole hammer or a maul might. I'm guessing there are rules though, since many are using swords, which are the worst choice possible against plate armor are they not?
Amazing.
where did they get the pole axes?
I'd like to think that American soldiers would have worn these uniforms if the U.S. existed during medieval times.
I get that poleaxes do well for range given that no stabbing rules out most types of spears. However I would think at least one person would try something along the lines of a double sided mace/staff. Sure it would be heavy, but the versatility of being able get a solid swing from multiple directions seems like a decent trade-off if you have a high endurance.
Weight restrictions would make it to where you couldn’t use them.
These dudes are wild
I’m going to tell my kids this was the American Revolutionary War
If it were me, I'd have someone in command (let's call him 1 IC) and a second in command (let's call him 2 IC), with the commanders in back directing the men in front to swarm whichever opponent or two stray a bit too far away from his main group. I know it sounds better in theory than in practice, but there should be some kind of unit cohesion, direction and basic tactics, I think. But then again if you just want to have fun, I'd be in there going nuts, regardless of all that :)
The Americans have more reach, possessing a higher count of polearm fighters allows an upper hand in the initial faze of combat
I thought the title said "at some palace"
Imagine trying to kill each other in medieval times, just constantly having to bash each other's helmets in lol.
CommandoJenkins remember their weapons are Completely dull and blunt
They arent allowed to use anti armour weapons
Did I not say "in medieval times" /sigh
Not everyone had armor like this . That’s why knights were so badass they were very hard to kill. Most soldiers had soft padding or at most mail.
This reminds me of the battle of Ticonderoga. when we saved all the cannons
I believe a good counter for England was at the beginning. They have charged in a single line and struck the right line hard with a small contingent of 5 men turning to the left contingent that was branches of the American side. If this was organized and timed correctly with an impactful charge, it could have been devastating.
I seriously need to get a life, but I’m so glad that I found this

Its offensive to the asians in England to be English.

If I was in the Scottish team, I'd have worn a kilt outside my armour and done a Braveheart before the fight. Works every time.
Team Germany is like, "YES! Finally!"
I wouldn't be surprised if most of the guys from the USA played football as kids :D
