The garage at the 1706 Rittehouse residential tower in Philadelphia, PA is the most advanced in the US. An automated system parks and retrieves the car in a robotic, below-ground garage.
Rittenhouse is one of the poshest streets in Philly-- like Park Avenue in NYC. No one drives, they all have drivers.
Guy at 0:30 is like "Did you see that shit..."
"What would happen if everyone wanted their car at the same time?" - Answer, the same thing that happens now - they would wait in line, but they would be doing it without the engine running or circling a parking garage. Plus, this system acts as a metering device which will improve traffic on the adjacent streets.
You don't use your car during rush hour in center city Philadelphia, you'll never make it anywhere. You only use your car to get groceries, or going on a weekend trip or something of that nature.
This is a great idea...but how could it be improved to handle large groups of people coming to get their cars at the same time?
What happens at rush hour when everyone wants to get their car at the same time?
What would happen if you left the car in neutral when you got out?
It reminds me of something out of the Thunderbirds
But what about motorcycle parking? ;-)
If you live here, you're not worried what time rush hour is...
After living through a 3 day power failure I would not want this type of system.
out off service, take the stairs please!
this is straight yuppy shit... probably takes longer also.
They have had this technology in Japan for awhile now...
