  • Seeing this, I'm - not as disappointed in the new pack as I thought it would be! It's also really encouraging that a good portion - sentiments, platforms - are actually base game quality of life updates. Solid move. I *do* wish there were more than 2 new traits, but I didn't reallt have my hopes up for that anyway.

    @7913AJunior@7913AJunior3 жыл бұрын
    • It’s not like traits really are really that significant in the Sims 4 anyways. They probably introduced Lifestyles and Sentiments to account for the lack of uniqueness between sims that Traits were supposed to address in the first place

    • @@stairfall12345678900 Yeah, agreed. But I still feel that if there were more options for traits in the first place, we'd have a greater potential for more unique-feeling sims. With so few of them, everyone's personalities really *are* the same. They really should've taken a leaf from their own book and do it the same way as they did it in Sims 3, imo.

    • @@7913AJunior With anything related with EA, there is always more left to be desired. I fully agree that having more traits is a good thing, and I would even say that giving each sim 5 traits instead of 3 would go miles into making each sim feel more unique. This still pales in comparison to Sims 3 traits, but I think it’d be a great start to a more effective remedy for the lame state of Sims 4 traits.

    • Lifestyle and Sentiment is just Perk like in Get Famous

      @adijaya4517@adijaya45173 жыл бұрын
    • But the fact that lifestyles are only going to be in the pack means they are shallow and are not going to really affect your game play in any meaningful way. Sentiments are basically expanded emotions and we all know how those work out. So really they are not adding anything into the game that isn't already there. To be able to give you a deep and meaningful game play they would have had to change the base game coding, which after 6 years they are not going to do this at this point which is why we will never have fixed babies or cars. The three festivals, one of them you can't even do anything at, which is INSANE, why make a festival that you can't even do anything at? Also we kind of already get festivals so another re-used unoriginal idea from EA. The new job isn't even really new, it's a rabbit hole version of the business career. Don't get me wrong there is nothing wrong with rabbit holes so long as they help make the game play better. They had the opportunity to add in a few more part time jobs like working as a ski instructor and we could of had the opportunity for HOTELS in this pack, but no instead of that, they gave us rentals... which we ALREADY HAVE...again. The vending machines, we have those too, kiosks were introduced with University, the collectibles, also not a new thing because Void Critters. The hiking we have already because you can go hiking in Outdoor Retreat. I guess what I am trying to say is that the only thing NEW you are getting in this pack are a really bad skiing animation, snow boarding and sledding. You guys are about to shell out 40.00 for some new food, nice build and buy stuff and three new animations. The Sims 4 has been nothing but a giant rabbit hole of a shell with pretty window dressing. Journey to Batu is already 50% off... and it just came out not too long ago. If you wait a bit then this will go on sale. Bottom line there isn't a lot to do here, it's kind of like Sulani. Emotions are pointless because just put your sim in a room that is well decorated and the points of the happy will outweigh the emotion of anything else. Kind of like it is now...

      @soulight6091@soulight60913 жыл бұрын
    • @Allison Biles The Sims games have to compete with stuff like Fifa loot boxes. EA execs officially stated that they're not interested in developing games which the consumers only pay for once. Instead, they're going with some sort of ongoing monetization, whether as loot boxes or as base game components being sold as DLC. Because of that statement I'm expecting TS5 to be some sort of online game with all sorts of stuff being sold separately. (Prove me wrong, EA!) As for the amount of animations, TS2 was the best game imo, even though I liked TS3's gameplay better.

It's been SIX years, half a decade, when this game launched I was in university, like there's enough time in there to get married, buy a house and have a kid in kindergarten. Then to buy this entire game and have fun is like I believe over $300. I can't think of another game that does this, even ones owned by EA. You buy Dragon Age, Assassin's Creed or Cities Skylines, some of those games are pricey, but you get the full game and maybe the expansions have some new missions or a new world and game play but the packs are cheap and there aren't 85 of them. This whole thing is full out exploitation, and people keep giving them money. Everything released after 2019 should be $15 to add on or a free update.

This is the fourth entry into the Sims, it should be better not worse than past games. They have literally done the same packs and ideas 4 times now, but the forth time it's worse than when they did it 15 years ago, for some packs. You don't have to take my word for it, there is a massive dissatisfaction in the community concerning TS4. In the past, we didn't have massively disliked trailers and everybody saying to not but the packs at full price. And yes, it's not some guy in a basement making the game. Again, why are you defending them? EA is a billion dollar company that is cutting corners and doing the least they can get away with for TS4, while earning so much through the game. At least there are guys and girls sitting in their "basements" making mods, fixes and content for the game, so that people get more enjoyment out of it and don't drop this mess of a game. The whole Asian theme we get with this "expansion" could have easily been included with Spa day. In which we could have gotten an Asian focused world to explore with hot springs. 2. the Snow stuff should have come with Seasons so that winter had more content & we could have gotten ANOTHER vacation place fully centred around a ski resort. In general the whole pack just feels like its put together with content that was cut out of previous packs just to stop us from getting to much content from 1 pack JUST so they could sell it later on as a new pack. • I guess it’s more a question of accessibility and immersion. Back in the day before open world games most of the in-game environments were like old movie sets. Pretty dull. It wasn’t until Rockstar and Bethesda pushed the boundaries, which was incredible - and now it is expected. Gamers want to go everywhere and interact with everything/everyone (especially in a Sims game). If they can’t then it’s considered to be lazy game design, something Sims 4 is already heavily criticized for. I was playing Watchdogs Legion a while back and one of the first things I did was travel to the London Eye. At first it didn’t seem to be possible to get on, but then it worked! And yeah, you’re just standing there as it goes around, but the view is cool and so is the option and freedom to get on and experience it.

    • I think they only invited the gamechangers to build because in every other pack people always said the prebuilt buildings sucked (doors going nowhere, or windows not all being levelled) so people told them all over twitter to just have gamechangers make the lots (since thats a big part of what they did on youtube anyway AND they are already being used for post game advertisements), but why they won't ask the coding guy is because thats their "behind the scenes" work - they wouldn't be able to say every little thing he did so they would have to hire him as part of the team and as part of the team he wouldn't be allowed recognition for specifically what he did. Also that would make them look like they can't handle their own "creation" and asking outsiders for help (with programming) would make them look less competent.

  • Thank you so much for your honesty, Carl. I too don't fall for hyped up things just because others say I should. This pack looks... okay... and seems to be adding a couple of things to the base game, but I'm not sure they're things I will want to use. As for the new area, it's basically Japan. If that's somewhere that intrigues you, then I guess it's okay. It doesn't intrigue or even interest me. EA brought in a few people to build some of the lots. They're excited because they were included... and it means that those lots might be better looking than the normal lots... might. I actually enjoy building my own lots and tend to delete what's in the game. So far I haven't seen any lot that makes me go all 'weak in the knees' to have it. Also, being a wheelchair user irl, platforms aren't something I'm excited about. Ramps yes, more stairs, no. I keep waiting for elevators or chair lifts that can be put into normal houses... and ramps, which haven't appeared in any Sims game yet.

  • I'm glad that at least EA tried for this pack. I still feel a bit of pandering though. And they're basically announcing free update features during the expansion pack's live stream to make it feel like the pack comes with more new stuff than is actually present. But that's just my opinion, as I haven't gotten anything else that came after City Living. Edit: I'm curious to know whether there are new, realistic animations for this pack. IMO, it's probably the primary element that makes sim games immersive.

    @anonview@anonview3 жыл бұрын
    • There are new animations. All of the snow activities, naturally, and the respectful greeting (bowing), and probably a good bunch more that I'm not thinking of

      @mmmtacobaguett@mmmtacobaguett3 жыл бұрын
    • The skiing/sledding/snowboarding animations are looking pretty real. Plumbella showed her sim skiing with first-person camera, and when her sim wiped out, I thought "Yeah, that tracks" 😂 The rock-climbing looks great too. There was a clear difference between inexperienced and experienced climbing, and given there's a chance of death if you fall, I felt that "Are you gonna make it??" feeling, even just watching the livestream, lol. So I'd say that part is pretty immersive so far. Some of the little ones aren't, like you teleport when you use the gondola instead of entering/exiting. Even just having it wait a couple of seconds would be more realistic, but alas, nope. Otherwise, it looks they got the sporting stuff right.

There was a time when a Sim Guru asked on twitter what kind of build mode feature we would like to add, I actually replied that I would like to add fishes into fountains. I thought my opinion was unpopular so I'm really really really excited and happy to hear this news!! 😆😆😆 (Although I can't be sure if they added this feature just because it fits the theme of this pack, or they also really did saw my tweet and considered it 🤣🤣). I do agree with your idea of penalties for neglecting lifestyles. I think that would've added even more depth to the system. I'm actually more excited about the additional little features here and there than the actual main gameplay. Finally being able to choose whether my Sims prefer to use chopsticks or spoons and gacha machines are nice additions! I'm looking forward to your review video once the game is out! ❤

  • I have quit buying S4 games. I loved the Sims 2 & Sims 3. But I feel this game is like a bad relationship that I keep accepting bad behavior and sub-par performance in the hopes that I can that maybe I can get back that good vibe I once had!! At this point I need to face the fact that after 6 years if I keep buying I am part of the problem! I think using the Game Changers to build the locations in the pack to gain following was brilliant for EA to do!!! But let’s be honest, expecting this to much more then we have seen in other packs just sets us up for more disappointment! Do I think they did a decent job on Seasons... yes! And I think this will be like that. But I think 2 eps in 6 years to stand-out is still below standards if we are honest!

I love that they’ve repurposed elements from other packs - it just makes sense. City Living’s festivals always reminded me of omatsuris and the yatai you see there, the vending machines in University are similar to the ones in Japan as well, you can buy more than just drinks. OOOOOOOOOOO I get their better builds at the get go OooOoOOOOooooo. I'm not against them bringing them in, but can we please look at this with open eyes?
