In movie perspective, viewers don't know who is "the emperor", not all movie fans bother to read novels, comics and stuff, so when the movie come out "the emperor" is just a mysterious guy. Vader being Luke's father is a twist back then. Vader is just as mysterious as the emperor. Prequels simply diminished that big twist.

Still it's dishonest in "honest" trailers to call the things not imitating a new hope .immitations of a new hope....there was total intentional homage-ing of the Star Wars universe in Awakens and some stuff was totally legit 'stuck here to call back to A New Hope". I can get a laugh out of this and still find flaws with some of what it's calling out incorrectly. Make the joke, but make the *right* joke. The joke of a clever joke is in the truth of the joke.
***** At the end of the day, all Hollywood does now is "homages" and remakes and reboot. Not original stories. No one would dare write an original story because they are afraid it won't measure up to the Orig. Trilogy. Which is extremely hard to do. They played it safe and everyone said... "Meh." Though there is the old argument of if it ain't broke, don't fix it. But, then they shouldn't call it a Star Wars sequel that continues the story. It just introduces new characters at the expense of a different story.

Meme Of Spider-Man that gets into murky territory, as he actually started that by telling Rey she already knew who they were and she answered that they were nobody. Wouldn't put it past them to change it anyway, but I kinda do like the idea of a non-hereditary force user, as otherwise it gets kinda awkwardly gets into "Be born special, or else" territory. Still an awkward amount of setup for a non-payoff though.

The new trilogy was garbage. Why do you think there are no new Star Wars films in cinemas anymore and it’s confined to TV.
Admittedly I quite liked her portrayal of Rey, but there _was_ a major problem with the character that many have already pointed out: _She is good at every-damned-thing._ There is zero agency to the rest of the characters. Rey can do everything. At least in the original they _needed_ the group. They all had different skill sets. However, in a bad attempt to make a strong female character, they simply made her the only character with any form of agency in the entire trilogy.

Y'all complained so hard about TLJ's answers to who Snoke and Rey's parents were that you wound up getting even worse answers about them in TROS, so I hope you're all proud of yourselves.
see you say that, but JJ said that episode 9 went where he was planning to go all along. so if they were planning it all along then it can't be the people complaining. i'm just saying both can't be true.
TLJ's answers were so poor that the answers provided TROS were only a slight improvement based on constrictions. Snoke was disposable in TLJ so TROS had to make him into a clone for the guy that he's based on. And Rey actually has some genuine, personal conflict absent within TLJ. An actual character that moves her somewhere rather than restating what we already know about her in TFA.
Sure, blame the people who merely asked for a coherent, planned narrative that would build upon and expand a franchise they loved, instead of the cooperation who merely hired the most popular director the could find (Abrams) instead of finding a director who understands and loves Star Wars.

The best scene of movie is from 39 to 50 minute, I got goosebumps watching that! It might be the the best film lately made. Version which I found is really good quality of video (720p as I can see). Great movie Also Rey isn’t a Mary Sue She only beats kylo cuz he was shot and was in a terrible state of mind from killing his dad. Also Rey only knows about bypassing a compressor more than Han cuz Han implies it wasn’t their when he owned the Falcon. And Rey runs away from maz on takodana in fear, something a Mary Sue wouldn’t do
Then why didn't Kylo use a mind trick, or send Rey flying like he did minutes before, and how can Rey block all of his attacks without any training?
Reys wielding the lightsaber somewhat similar to how she wielded her staff, how to wham and block against opponents are similar, also wielding a weapon like a sword isn’t that difficult for a physically strong 19 year old, like how Gar Saxon and pre Visla used the dark saner, just wielded it like an average melee weapon Kylo was slashed on the shoulder after force pushing Rey so that may have affected him, and again he was shot in the stomach and mentally wounded so the fact that he’s standing is a testament to his strength For 80% of the fight kylo has the upper hand and only when Rey taps into the force she barely wins Better than Anakin in episode 1

For anyone saying Rey is a Mary Sue I'm going to point out that Aniken won a pod race at age 9 and Luke made a seemingly impossible shot at age 20. Nobody complained them.
Yeah but unlike Anakin, Rey's good at everything and defeated someone who had training unlike her.
Anakin at age 9: Wins podrace, pilots a Naboo fighter even though he's never been in one before and lasts an entire battle while several older pilots are shot down and he destroys a federation ship, age 19 cut his way through droids and bug aliens while several more experienced jedi died like scrubs and contended with Duku (Who is arguably the most refined lightsaber duelist of that era) Age 24 he was one of the youngest Jedi knights, and defeated Duku who was by far a more experienced fighter. I think the most significant rehash of A New Hope is that the story setup is exactly the same: empire/first order & rebellion/resistance. This has always bugged me the most about this film, since I was excited for a new Story set in this galaxy and in the New Republic, and it also makes the defeat of the empire in Return of the Jedi less meaningful.

You are correct sir... Yoda doesn't show up until the 5th movie. and no mention of Yoda is made at all in A new hope. However if you look at the films top down dissecting the thespian roles within the story. One could argue the Wise old sage/Hermit role moved from Ben to Yoda in a similar fashion as it moved in the force awakens that being Han (who explained to rey that the force was indeed real) to Maz Kanata. It doesn't quite fit with the inclusion of Luke likely taking the role of Yoda to Rey in the next movie as far as training goes... but its close enough to see what they were going for.
They also didn't deactivate shields in the original Star Wars. The clip from 2:50 is Ben shutting down the tractor beam.

Heres another one, and this is aimed at Rogue One too: Why is every fighter in the galaxy either an X-Wing or a TIE Fighter? Where are the A-Wings, Y-Wings, B-Wings, TIE Bombers, TIE Defenders, and TIE Interceptors? At least Rogue One had a variety of larger ships including a Hammerhead Cruiser from KotOR.
