This Tiny House Is What Dreams Are Made Of

This incredible, modern, fully-off-the-grid, DIY tiny house is the stuff that dreams are made of. Inspired by permaculture principles, this stunning tiny house is filled with the special kinds of features you only ever find in do-it-yourself builds.
Thomas and Caroline decided to build a tiny house as part of a plan to start a market garden business. To save money, they came up with the brilliant idea of finding land for their business and building a tiny house they could take onto the land with them. Despite not having any prior experience in construction, the couple tackled the build and just over a year later they are now living in their dream tiny house.
This tiny home is totally solar powered and even heats its own water using solar thermal tubes on the roof. The home collects rain-water and also has a clever under-deck rainwater harvesting system. Soon, the home will be surrounded by permaculture-inspired market gardens. This tiny home tour is definitely one you don't want to miss!
We hope you enjoy the full tour of this inspiring build.

  • This episode is a great example of why the DIY builds are often my favourites. When people build their own homes, they often include quirky and unique features which you seldom see in builder-model homes. Thomas and Caroline have constructed something very special here and we hope you enjoy the tour of their tiny house! With love, Bryce & Rasa

  • As one who built my own home, I really appreciate the sentiment and memories ingrained in this very beautiful home. Bryce, your channel remains my favorite source for tiny living inspiration - and since I am not alone in that, and you have such a huge following, I encourage you to devote some videos to the very important topics of material selections, insulation, moisture management and indoor air quality. These building science topics are important in all buildings, but none more so than in smaller homes. Folks who set out with the best of intentions for reducing their footprint can so easily sabotage themselves if they don't incorporate the correct building science strategies. It may not be rocket science, but it is critical science!

    • Hi Cherry, I have a similar issue to you in that I’m disabled, I’m a wheelchair user and I have limited function in my upper body and chronic fatigue, and once you’ve accounted for wheelchair manoeuvring space, hoists, rails, storage for all the extra stuff I have to have, a standard tiny home is an impossible dream. I am sorry for your loss, btw. I don’t usually say that to other disabled people as there’s nothing wrong with being disabled, but when you acquire a disability, it is a huge adjustment and loss, yours more so than most, and it takes time and support to readjust to it. A compact, well-designed home would be ideal for many disabled people as it would be far easier to have things within easy reach so there’s definitely a gap in the market people are missing there. If I spot any other accessible tiny house videos or similar, I’ll leave you a reply here. I don’t know which country you’re in, but I’m in the UK and there was recently a two-part celebrity-fronted travelogue on tv on van life in the USA and how it is expanding to other places too. Presented by Su Perkins, she had her own hired van and went and met various people and their vans, some of which were definitely more like tiny homes and some were converted school buses. Her last stop was at a van-life festival where she met a young woman in her early twenties who had just finished converting a school bus so that she and her brother could go travelling without needing any other accommodation. This had been a dream for years but then her brother fell out of a hammock and broke his neck and is now paralysed. She used a school bus with a wheelchair lift already on it and had built everything around his access and his needs. The bathroom, for instance, closed at both sides, blocking the width of the bus, to give an accessible bathroom with shower chair etc. I wonder if they’re on Instagram? If you can’t access the program and can’t find them, I can rewatch it to get their names if you’d like? Good luck with your tiny house dreams. I think it’s doable. And yes, this was one of my absolute favourite tiny houses featured: just so well done and thought out. Future-proofed (to an extent), airy feeling, easy to use…. better than most non-tiny houses! Really in awe of the excellent work. Congratulations. Sarah

Especially this one, the office room is quite big with a good window and I can see myself crafting and keeping all my craft supplies in there. • It’s couples like this who come up with new and creative ways of integrating storage while also planning for their future needs as they expand their family down the road. I have always loved looking at house plans, making modifications to create a dream home if I could ever afford to build one. It’s something my husband and I used to enjoy doing together and it’s why I love watching videos of tiny houses and smaller homes because each person or couple can start with basically the same trailer dimensions and yet the home they create can look nothing like another’s layout and final results. It’s thrilling to see what each new build looks like and the hidden features. Thank you for sharing each person ‘s vision and the home that they have created together with the people who helped them build the home of their dreams. This is definitely one of my all time favorites. Congratulations to Thomas and Caroline and hopefully we will hear more about their permaculture gardens and market and they continue to build, create, grow and sell their products in the years to come.

Most of us do not have architectural background, nor an amazing architectural dad who can help make our dream tiny happen!! So happy for this couple! The build is quite amazing, bright, spacious and beautiful! Their space is amazing as well, and so peaceful. Liked, saved and subscribed again and again 🥰

Even their furball is absolutely gorgeous with wonderful spaces for his food and water, his toys, and his personal space for when he needs some alone time lol. Future children who will no doubt be absolutely gorgeous as well and have a well thought out area of their own! I loved this tour and never get tired of seeing the individual creativity that this tiny house movement has inspired. It's truly fantastic how much variety and individualism is seen in these videos. They should trade market this design, mostly because is out of grid. Outside shower it’s a must! Thank you et félicitation.
