Kits will do a lot to pad The Sims bottom line, thanks to players who purchase everything regardless of quality. Here's the reasoning for their existence and details on the only pack worth buying unless you're stuck on a console. I'm so sorry.

If mod makers could sell their mods I'm pretty sure they would do that. But mods are expected to be free, so they are free. The only tangible benefit they bring the mod makers is they can look good on a portfolio should they seek employment in video game development. @turtle10141@turtle101413 жыл бұрын
    • Because EA cares no more about anything else than profit. Remember the days when they would release cross-pack content like weather stones? They are gone. Remember Ambitions? That thing was Get to Work, Laundry Day and Eco Living + 4 extra jobs, 1 revamped job, self employment and real estate, all for $40.

      @YellOw139@YellOw1393 жыл бұрын

    • they're using a counterproductive strategy. If they did want it to be more profitable they would fix the glitches, bugs and broken mechanics first and then add new content. That way, players would pay for these packs but they'd be satisfied with the game overall and keep buying. Right now, they're just making themselves look like clowns and customers angry.

      @augustinesim1672@augustinesim16723 жыл бұрын
    • Because improving the base game probably wouldn't make them much money, since most ppl who are interested in TS4 have already bought the game. Why spend money on things that won't generate profit? People want new stuffs, so these low effort dlc will make them money. The success of all those gacha mobile games shows how effective this strategy is. I'm actually surprised they haven't introduced loot boxes to the Sims. The only problem of this strategy is it might damage the franchise reputation and affect future sales, but who cares about the future? EA certainly doesn't.

For majority of their packs, as someone else said, they have the depth of a kiddie pool, especially for their prices. Some packs are broken and buggy, some have very little replay value, some have very little gameplay, some you can see all of the content within a few hours and it becomes old news fast. The build and buy mode for almost every pack is AMAZING. But as for actual gameplay it's almost always not enough. It always feels like they expend all of their energy into build and buy and then forget there are other players who don't want an architecture simulator 24/7. What is the bet that these "kits" are lots and lots of creations made in the past that didn't make it into the packs. That's why they seemingly seem as though they SHOULD be in various packs - because they bloody well SHOULD be in those packs. When they're creating they probably make lots of stuff, some of which they just don't put in/ or just doesn't make it into the packs. I reckon, (and I reckon I'm right) that these "kits" are bits and bobs of left over stuff (you know, like a seamstress has bits of material and buttons and whatnot, a bit like cuts in films that hit the cutting room floor - well, now EA are making money by SELLING THEIR OLD OFFCUTS). • I’ll give them $5 toward fixing what’s already wrong with the game instead, how about that? I don’t need another chore for my SIMS I need my game to work better.

  • to be honest i was going to completely ignore the kits but bust the dust does seem like a fun little gimmick though at 5 munny its still a hefty price for a single "update" feature and feels like testing the waters for what they can and cannot get away with in the next games DLC method, i hope im wrong and this genuinely is just a last ditch effort to use up assets that didnt fit packs but EA is EA and milking is what they do. im holding back for a little while and seeing what next pops up before touching the kits, if the next 4th kit is not either cheaper or much beefier i will be convinced they are testing the waters with what can milk more money. a feature kit, clothing kit or decór kit. hopefully if bust the dust proves overwhelmingly successful they will put more in future ones and NOT increase the price. THAT i can put up with, if "kit" prices go up or contain more of the same im not holding my breath for this series anymore and will likely move onto paralives, you know, the new rival thats TRYING to please its audience.

  • "They stop content droughts in between packs." idk... maybe make the packs fun to play and add some replay value and no one would even notice content droughts.

  • I love the game and passion it about building . But charging again money for Something that should be in the base game ..... well no words .... giving these moderate ok kits for free as a smooth over for a game that crashes all the time would be a better option. Disappointed really

  • As a console player, I really wish I got more depth/good gameplay out of the hundreds of dollars I’ve sunk into the game. If I could get CC for free I wouldn’t buy half the packs 🙃

  • I could almost like it if this was just a way to bring gameplay to the forefront in a way it never is in packs. I feel like they started backing themselves into a corner with Strangerville in terms of just always devoting so many of their resources to adding a new world for gamepacks rather than the titular game aspect-"very pretty with nothing to do" is the opposite of what I would be happy to live with. I'll take ugly but fun over stylish and boring any day. The price point says that's not what this about, though. Shame.

  • I love the length of your videos. Screw the algorithm, I prefer when creators choose not to waste my time trying to stretch their videos longer than they need to be. Thanks for the continually awesome content!

  • I agreed with you fully before the Courtyard Oasis Kit. I treated myself to it, and I'm honestly having so much fun with it. I built an huge mansion with an open floor plan and an indoor pool with a second story courtyard looking over the pool, and I put plants everywhere... I love it so much. I've never put so much work into one house. I don't want the other kits, but that one has been fun for me.

  • This was very informative! If I'm still excited about dust in a month or so I may very well buy this kit. It really seem to be exactly what I want, and I don't care too much about BB or CAS, so... Cheap stuff pack hero item? But I'm still mad at them for not having CAW or wants and fears (or burglars) after 7 years. I wonder if we'll have to pay for those at some point. I think it's a really bad idéa to run 4 into this path just before 5. That means players will remember vividly how expensive it's going to be to hop on the NEXT hype-over-lies-train...
