  • Sean surprised me. That guillotine was perfect. Takedown defence on point. He worked pretty well in the clinches. His ground game is a lot more solid than I thought.

    • Sean always had decent ground game. He showed a little bit of this when he was on the Dana White's contender series awhile back. And he also came from a jiujitsu background. I think people don't really know this about Sean because Sean has not really utilized that skill to fight from the ground. He mostly has done fights straight up.

  • Hell yeah Suga. Always pisses me off when people say he has no ground game when he’s literally constantly training bjj and wrestling, plus his takedown defense/stand up ability is fantastic. Yan couldn’t keep him down at all.

    • @@garretttringale436 depends on the skills of both and def not true for grappling. Roger Gracie is one of the best ever and one of the tallest. I'm 5'4 and would love to agree with you and I did do great in both wrestling and grappling but tall guys get alot of leverage and could be in trouble depending on the situation. Tall guy sprawls and his legs are far away. Can also reach and grab a leg easily with length of the reach. I don't think there's any connection between the 2. I've seen short and tall guys do amazing. Way too many other factors involved, including style of wrestling/grappling

    • BJJ is his fave. He talks about it all the time... Loves flashy KOs and striking when fighting. Plus, it is like an ace up his sleeve for future fights he was always saying... His main gym for many years is known for grappling and wrestling... Quintet is fun to watch! Created by famous retired fighter Sakuraba. 5 person teams, a total weight limit for each team. Submission only, warnings if you do not chase submissions. Winner stays to fight next opponent. A draw means both are out. They do semi finals and finals in one event, so four teams at first. Sean had more matches that night and I think his team won IIRC.

  • Shows how Sean even at his height makes bantamweight. He’s taller than Gomi but much smaller and Gomi in today’s mma would be a relatively small lightweight. I’m definitely not trying to sound like a hater though, Sean is one of my favorite fighters at the moment. It’s just interesting seeing these two stand side by side.

  • O'Malley avoided the match the entire time, Gomi get's frustrated, takes a deep single and get punished with a choke. No honor in Sean's style. Engage or gtfo. He ran the entire just to set up a counter guillotine. I now understand why the old style of Catch Wrestling banned strangle holds in the olden days.
