This 1969 Cadillac Sedan DeVille was left to rott on a unknown property, then eventually went through what we believe was a estate sale. Since then, it's been sitting in a grass field. It's been off the road since 1989! Do you think I can get it running and driving, and make the 600 miles journey home? WATCH AND FIND OUT!

Love this guy, how calm he talks and his dry humor, he's like the automotive Bob Ross.
Yep!

just paint a little sparkolatar over here!
Couldn't have said it better myself.
Derek is a geographical oddity. 600 miles from home everywhere he goes.
That's his MO - he draws a 600 mile circle around his garage and sees what regions it goes through. If he ever moves to Hawaii he's gonna need a new hobby.
Man flies abandon plane home 700 miles!!

Sir, your channel is amazing. You do such a great job. I’m a shade tree mechanic of many years, started out just like your son climbing in the engine compartment taking plugs out. I’m amazed at your son and how smart he is. You’re doing a great job as a father too. I have an old Chevy that I had all but given up on and with the arthritis I have had the perfect excuse. After watching some of these videos, I have dusted off my Taiwana Socket set and got my ass outside and hooked up the chargelator and juiced her up and then…I BROUGHT THE THUNDER 😄 🇺🇸 I share all your videos with my two sons as well. This video is my favorite as Im a Cadillac nut! Just wanted to thank you!
Thank you very much
I grew up on a used car lot my dad bud owned in Indianapolis in the 80s brings back alot of memories of the old cars and how much I miss them. thank you for sharing your experiences with me
"Took off like a 2nd step dad." Haha. That's a new one for me.
i’m taking that line lol

That Old Delta is definitely worth a return trip! Gorgeous.
Everyone vote up so we can peer pressure boss man into getting that old cutty!
It was a wagon too! Love wagons.
Yeah he is more the pre 80's flavor tho
I've been trying to stay away from the delta. It's been real bad around here. 😷
Definitely. Especially if that's pre-smog. High compression 455 is a freaking brute
idk why but seeing this thing on the interstate after all this time, with all these new cars, on these new roads, almost made a man emotional. shes back! can’t wait til i have my chance to drive one of these beauties on the road after all this time.
The old caddy that could! I'm glad to see someone trying to save some of our old American automotive history. Cool old cars!
Mom had a new one just like this... What a car!😁😁😁
A guy should be changing his channel name to "Wasp Delete", nope, probably not
A guys got to know who you are, due to the roastification with fire and hairspray.
😂
Lol!
I NEVER buy crappy “wasp” spray anymore. I think they make it to be humane or something now. I’ve seen them drowning then get up and fly away to get their friends. The look your bro gave you when you told him there may be more when you were driving was awesome. I hate them things, got stung in the eyeball once… PURE EVIL CREATURES! BreakClean for EVERY-TING is my motto
You guys should definitely do a joint show. Derek finds an AMC Hornet, you delete the hornets...
Caddy name suggestion: “Root Beer Float” based on the root beer color and that it’s a caddy that floats down the highway. Just a thought :)
THIS IS HILARIOUS!! I read this comment as my boyfriend and I were watching that specific part of the video. Perfect description, and provided a good laugh.
I was going to add this to the suggestions, but decided to look through the comments to see if anyone beat me... Yup, a feller did :)
Even has the foam on the hood lol
Didn’t he drop a root beer can?
Close the thread. Joe dubbed it. And go back for the Delta. Your driveway will be the refuge of the Lead Sleds.
I love this Guy, he sees the positive in everything. The power off positively. I started watching this guy and my energy level has increased 2000%
Just starting watching, completed love the show! Bless you for saving those old machines and bringing them back to life. I own and drive all old cars. It really is a great feeling to get them up and running again, lots of work though!
Your little humans are learning more than you know. Granted you’re documenting all of it but in 20 years when they do something amazing, you will ask them, “How do you know how to do that?”. They will respond, “You taught me, like 20 years ago”. Keep being great parents.
AMAN - Taught that rascal how to delete wasp. Just like the firman and momas can of white rain.
Yup, I love figuring out how things work because my dad used to drive used Falcons and Mustangs and you had to rebuild Ford sixes about every 40,000 miles. My dad overhauled a '61 and then couldn't find his pipe wrench. Somewhere in a boneyard is a '61 Falcon with a pipe wrench in the oil pan. Ran just fine.
@@douglasnicholls1366 That ‘61 Falcon is probably a Hyundai by now.
@@hbhamilton3410 and now that pipe wrench is in a Hyundai oil pan, whenever someone pulls that they will say “where the hell did this come from?!?, it’s way older than the Hyundai ,perhaps it’s even 80+ years old!!” LOL the imagination flies!

What are the odds of us catching up to a guy doing 60 in a Cadillac on the interstate with an old Bronco?
Best two channels on youtube!
Exactly!
what are the odds of a 60 mph fist bump? The "cain't be" line at the pumps about killed me lol
I actually saw the Bronco in the sped up bit before you guys stopped in the service station, I could see Derek overtaking, then the Bronco overtaking again, and my 1st thoughts were, jeez those yanks have piss poor lane discipline, then when Derek was filling up, I thought oh look that Bronc...ahh right, then the penny dropped, that's Rich. Cool they way you guys showed each other from your POV in each others videos, very clever, wouldn't expect anything else from you 2.
@@yakacm Yep,, @1:24:23 we saw the Bronco pass, then slow down and ease back, recognized Derek and yet another 'elder' Cadillac saved and bound for the VGG in Tennessee

Great video. I love the commentary and what a drive that car is.
" - We'll leave them alone for now" Brings the flame thrower. The entertaiment value went higher than a hippie 1969.

Another great video- VGG binge watching. One of the few channels best watched at "normal" playback and start to finish. Savor these, you can only watch each one once for the first time.
Another fantastic adventure, laughter and learnin's and a safe arrival, that is quite a beast and we're glad ya didn't have any panic stops evasive stuff considering how hard those fronts worked, gonna make an awesome cruiser for somebody, hopefully. I know its been a year+ but in the first part of this you mentioned the Olds 88, but what caught my eye was the Buick Riviera, wonder what the story on that one is.was, always thought they were classy lines for a bigish car; rode in a couple and they were pretty comfy.
That Olds caught my eye right from the start, definitely would like to see it revived
1978 Olds not '80s!
Long roof restoration
Ya the Delta would be a cool revival. Youre a champ man!

Did ya see the 6-way pwr couch, and the beautiful fabric designs? 😒 Hmm, what was the name of the mysterious Olds, was it a Delmont, when did that product end?
This is awesome content, I’ve been hooked since it popped up in my feed

Deboss cameo was great!! The delta definitely needs to be saved
Definitely go back for the Olds. This show is great can't get enough. We need to save as many oldsmobiles as possible. U have to save her.
Yes! I would love it if Derek went for that vintage blue Oldsmobile because it would be interesting to see a vintage Oldsmobile on the road.
Strong Lola girl. Hey great super job on the ole girl. She got ya home. I've only seen 4 of your videos so far. Very good job all the way around. I'm 66 just retired machinist last year. Worked on my cars, my kids cars not so much now. Anyway enjoy all the engine, brake work you do on these cars that have sit forever. Funny watching you drive her home, i noticed the headliner is still up and attached. I have a 2007 pick up truck and the headliner is all but completely hanging down. Must have used better glue back then, ha. Good job again, young man.
I’m 20 I just picked up a 78 Cadillac coupe deville delegance. Gonna try and restore it best I can. Car is solid only a couple tiny dings. Headliner is the first thing I’m replacing. Already got the fabric ripped out just need to figure out how to get the padding thing back into place. Stole my tires off my 91 deville and replacing the carburetor and then I can at least be comfortable to drive it around. Drove it probably 40 miles home just a few weeks ago when I bought it.
Love this show you have to be the most patient person on the planet. I’ve brought a few back to life in my day but never started here. You have to throw a hammer once in a while your only human. I’ll keep watching and learning.
The ole plain Jane Delta 88 isn't bad, might clean up fairly well....but the BUICK RIVIERA across the path to the left is the one I'd like to see up and running!

the delta 88 looks worth saving
Derek mate, this comment will be buried; but I wanted to say that I love your content and love even more that even with the channel growing and you getting juice from the bigger automotive channels you're still making the same flavour of content that drew everyone to you. Long may it continue.
Yeah, its law enforcement…. No registration, tail lights, headlights, cracked windshield, etc…. Make for a tow, storage fees, having to tell your wife she was right, a ride home, and fun days at the DMV and Court.
@Owen Tighe He had to fix the tail light before setting off, and new tyres just in case. Also insurance of some sort presumably...
@Owen Tighe Each state is different. The title, registration, plates, insurance, headlights, tail lights, brake and turn are all required. I live in Denver, Colorado and they quit the safety inspections when the emission tests became a requirement. Too much cost for the consumer. I see police cars with cracked windshields all the time that would have never made it past a safety inspection. The police can stop and ticket for an outrageously broken windshield as well as bad tires and the like but all 3 of mine have cracked windshields. In the winter, if you travel in the mountains you must have appropriate tires and big rigs must have chains on board. We get tickets for expired plates on our own property, if in site, and it costs much more to register the vehicle the longer you wait after it is expired. Some states are much, much, much less restrictive.
I assume your from AUS mate we have to put her straight on the car carrier and do the work once it got to our destination. This would be more fun.
I mean, I'm British, so most of the cars he works on would be laughed out of the testing centre. This may be part of the reason I like his content

Cadillac, standard of the world....Derek, standard of the auto repair net!!! PERFECT! 😅
My Dad had this very car - a 1969 Sedan de Ville, dark green exterior (painted, not vinyl roof), with the same colour inside. I smiled when I saw the brocade upholstery with the leather trim in the video - same as my Dad's Caddy!! The dash, steering wheel, controls, all as I remember. Brought back memories. GREAT car. It had one of the biggest engines, even for the time - 472 cubic inches or 7.7 litres. 375 horses, endless torque. Last model year before pollution gear was installed on US cars and power output fell off. My Dad had his for 5 years before selling it to a friend. We had this car in Edmonton, Alberta, through cold, cold winters and hot, buggy summers. Excellent heat, A/C like a meat locker when we drove it through the summer heat waves in southern British Columbia. Lots of highway driving around western Canada. Great long distance car. My favorite of all the cars my Dad owned.
I laughed my ass off with the "leaving the bees alone B.S." Then a big ole ball of flame sent their way.🤣

I like your videos. I remember that car well. My dad got a used one around 1974 from someone on this mail route. It was the nicest car we ever had. It was white with green fabric. I was 10 years old and was fascinated with the AM/FM radio. He only had it a few months - someone slammed into him. Everyone was okay, the car was totaled.
That's a shame it's a beautiful car I'm glad to see Derek rescuing these . My lil brother and I are working on building our own old car garage to rescue old historic beautiful cars like this! Love to save the history for others to enjoy most ppl don't know how good an old car can be.
