FORGOTTEN 1969 Chevelle Will it RUN AND DRIVE 500 MILES Home?
This is the first half of a 1,600-mile trip which includes two classics which together were parked for 44 years, a flight, sleepless nights, and plenty of wrenching! This 1969 Chevrolet Chevelle was very well taken care of. It has a 307 small block chevy, original to the car, backed by a 2 speed Powerglide transmission. At one point, restoration was started. It received a lot of bodywork and beautiful blue metallic paint. The car was parked in 2003 after it's inspection ran out, so it's been sitting for 17 years. Do you think it will start, and drive 500 miles to the new owner?

I wish this man every bit of success because he deserves it.
There is just something about this Chevelle that speaks to me. When I see an original car with humble little features like this, it just makes me feel happy. Nothing dramatic or flashy; just a good looking body with a nice set of curves, a lovely color with plenty of chrome trim, nice interior, simple wheels, and an unmodified engine and drivetrain. I would absolutely drive something like this every day!
I agree...except the 307 needs to be properly stored and replace with something with a bit more pep.
Ya, no power brakes really floored me. I would understand if it was a Nova with a six, but a V8 Malibu?
My dad was an engineer for General Motors for 42 years. He was born in Northport, Michigan, and when he worked on his cars, said “bat-tree”, “a tickle”, and frequently said “I’ll be dipped”. Thanks for making this 51 yr old daughter of a Detroit auto engineer smile at the memories of her dad. ❤️💞

it only takes about 5 seconds to know this guy is the real deal, the world is full of good people,... but the media wants us to think we all dislike each other. this dude is an American treasure. dave in NC:)
I’m a Ford guy who loves a chevelle. Something about them. Just starting watching these videos and I love his content and positive attitude and he’s funny. Thanks sir
Nice to see Mr. DB has garnered another fan... You won't be disappointed.
Hi Derek, just wanted to pass on a quick note of thanks. I don't think you and other KZheadrs get enough credit for the terrific job do editing your videos. I'm assuming you're like most of us and just taught yourself as you went along. To me, the best parts of youtube are seeing creators grow and develop into wonderful editors and cinematographers without any formal training. Love your videos. Blessings to you and your family! ❤🙏👍

My dad emigrated to New Jersey in the mid 1970s & died there a few years back. He loved these huge old big engined cars. One time, something seventeen feet long had been serviced at his local garage, who called him up: “Doctor Yeadon, your aircraft carrier is ready”. That's what I'm sayin'!
My grandparents lived in that town. Your absolutely right about the terrain, pretty much up, then down. Not a whole lot of level ground. I loved going there when I was a kid but it’s definitely gone down hill in the past 30 years, no pun intended.
I love how clueless he acts and then he ends up getting everything right and getting home most of the time
My favorite part is when he says words he makes up for the proper terminology, and then opens the "power barn" and rattles off the engines complete with specs and years and what transmission it's mated to and maybe even gear ratios or type of trans if you're particularly lucky that say. I'm starting to talk like him in the comments I come up with.

I am HOOKED on this channel. That's a bad thing when a feller's got stuffage to do. In truth this is the best of the "will it drive?" channels and videos I've seen so far; you are to be congratulated. You do a terrific job - for a big ol' Sasquatch. Loved your assistant and how you work with him on the big '68 Buick boat recovery too. On this one: I was surprised at the lack of A/C. This Chevelle is hardly a "land yacht." The wheelbase is 112". That's 4" shorter than a new Challenger, and weighs less than the Challenger.
@@toomanyhobbies2011 The Buick he did was a land yacht! Other than the "Malibu" badging and package goodies, you're looking at one of THE most desirable muscle cars of ALL TIME (maybe #1, actually - except if you're a Mopar man screaming 426 HEMI rules! - which may be true).
