We finally made it to LA. It was a long, but fun road trip driving from Philadelphia to California. And now it's time to get back to work! In this video, I teach you how to make boxing focus mitts for $1.00! Boxing equipment can get expensive, so here is a cheap, easy way to make punch pads out of a pool noodle.
SUBSCRIBE before your opponent does►full.sc/1bsPRTI
Everyone wants to know how to make a homemade punching bag, but this is a tool that is utilized by great boxing and Muay Thai coaches. The pads act as your opponent's punches, forcing you to block, slip, and react accordingly. And they are firm enough to punch! In fact, they're the perfect density, you don't even need boxing gloves and if you hit your training partner in the face, it won't hurt or cut them.
Get your own fighTIPS shirts►full.sc/1hJEmr2
Remember that it's not entirely about the equipment you use. It's about the knowledge and skill to be able to become a great boxing coach. Keep your punches as realistic as possible, making your training partner focus equally on defense and offense. Practice your punching, slipping, movement, hand-eye coordination, and accuracy. And you can practice blocking kicks for Muay Thai as well!

  • These r actually more difficult to use as compared to mitts cuz there is a smaller contact surface area, so pool noodles would require more accuracy. Thus this can also help you improve ok ur precision

  • Shane can you do a video on how to make homemade punching bag for cheap? I currently use sand bags, but they are too small, i was hoping for some standing structure that i could punch, but don't want to spend hundreds of dollars. Thanks

    @raz0rstr@raz0rstr10 жыл бұрын
    • Get two, three, or four sand bags (depending on size) put it in like a minimum of 5 king sized pillow cases and go to town kinda shitty but worked for me till i got a good bag. I just filled the pillow cases themselves with sand but let me know what works better for you. Hope this helped

    • Flea market for 30 bucks if you make the guy a ~70% price offer. As long as they make some money they will sell it... Oh and I use a tree, 1" chain, and a meat hook to hang it as I had all that stuff already.

  • Pool noodle longevity can be maximized with some duct tape. It makes it a lot harder to poke holes into the material, but you'd probably want more duct tape than what the boffer sword people use. I've been hit in the face with a boffer sword and properly made it's a pillow. On the flip side, if you DO want to feel them a bit more, a little PVC on the inside of the noodle will give it oomph but still not maim or anything like that!

    • You're probably a shallow breather meaning you take 15 breathes a min. Try taking just 10 breathes, 3 second inhale 3 second exhale practice that and believe me it slows stuff down. If for some unfathomable reason that doesn't work try blocking as opposed to dodging or do what i do which works best dodge but block as you're in that dodging motion. Stay out of his punch range and keep him in your kicking range and you should be fine. If he gets close throw some hard elbows keep your chin tucked but don't but your head down (I've seen lots of guys get ko'd that way). Don't worry to much about not having quick enough reflexes (adrenaline is a beast) you'll be fine hope this helped.
