  • 🎯 Key Takeaways for quick navigation: 00:29 🥊 *The double end bag is excellent for improving hand-eye coordination, footwork, and reaction speed in boxing.* 01:59 📏 *When setting up a double end bag, position it at a height slightly lower than your head, and keep it relatively tight for faster movement.* 02:54 🎾 *The medium-sized double end bag is recommended for a balanced challenge, allowing both speed and the ability to throw powerful combinations.* 04:25 🥋 *When starting, focus on hitting the double end bag softly to control its movement and gradually build up speed as you improve your timing.* 05:59 🔄 *Practice basic combinations like the one-two and one-one-two, emphasizing timing over perfect form initially.* 07:21 🥊 *Incorporate defensive moves by slipping after punches and gradually add more complex defensive combinations to your training.* 09:52 🤹‍♂️ *Progress to more advanced combinations, such as one-one-two slip-two hook-two, to challenge your coordination and reflexes.* 11:48 🏋️‍♂️ *Include double end bag workouts in your training routine, alternating with heavy bag sessions to enhance overall boxing skills and stamina.* 15:39 🩰 *Mastering footwork is crucial; stay on your toes, move around, and practice combinations while maintaining good form for better overall boxing performance.* 17:25 🏋️‍♂️ *Utilize the double end bag for high-intensity workouts, improving your style, endurance, and various aspects of boxing technique.* 18:28 🏃‍♂️ *Jump rope is an excellent complementary exercise for boxing, with adjustable rope lengths and different variations suitable for all skill levels.* 19:30 🏋️‍♂️ *Learn the progression of jump rope techniques, starting from basic jumps to advanced moves like double unders and crisscross.* 21:26 🛠️ *Adjustable jump ropes with aluminum handles, designed for speed and tangle-free use. Suitable for various heights.* 22:20 🤖 *Explore the world's first boxing robot, capable of sparring, practicing, and simulating various boxing scenarios.* 24:38 🥊 *Three modes on the boxing robot: Practice, Spar, and Combo, with customizable settings for rounds, duration, and intensity.* 26:08 ⚙️ *Demonstration of practicing defensive maneuvers and counter punches using the boxing robot for effective boxing training.* 27:32 🥊 *Utilizing Combo mode on the boxing robot to work on specific combinations, enhancing solo training sessions.* 29:39 🤜 *Light sparring demonstration with the boxing robot in Spar mode, showcasing defensive skills against random punches.* 30:41 🥊 *Engaging in a challenging hard sparring session with the boxing robot, testing defensive capabilities at maximum speed and intensity.* 33:12 🧖‍♂️ *Exploring the benefits of training with a sauna suit, including increased metabolism, fat oxidation, and cardiovascular health.* 39:43 ⚖️ *After a 30-minute workout with a sauna suit, a weight loss of approximately 5 pounds is demonstrated, emphasizing the importance of hydration.* 41:11 🥊 *The "Quiet Punch" is showcased, a low-impact boxing equipment suitable for home workouts, praised for its quietness.* 42:07 🤫 *The associated app offers free instructional content, on-demand workouts, and even live sessions with trainers.* 42:39 🧤 *You can work out quietly at home with the Quiet Punch, making it ideal for late-night sessions without disturbing others.* 43:41 🥊 *The video includes a freestyle workout, a 1000-punch challenge (completed in 7 minutes), and a power punch challenge to test the equipment's durability.* 46:36 💰 *Viewers are offered a discount code ("BOXING") for a $10 discount when purchasing the Quiet Punch.* 47:35 🥊 *The heavy bag is discussed as an essential tool in boxing, with anecdotes about encounters with legendary boxers.* 49:50 🚫 *Cons of heavy bag training are highlighted, cautioning against developing bad habits and emphasizing the importance of proper technique.* 51:11 💪 *Hitting the heavy bag consistently is recommended for building stamina and overall fitness in boxing.* 52:36 🥊 *The slip rope is introduced as a tool for improving head movement, footwork, and overall technique in boxing.* 54:02 🏃 *Basic slip rope exercises, including lateral movement and diagonal steps, are demonstrated to enhance head movement.* 55:58 🤜 *Combining punches with slip rope movement is explained, emphasizing finishing punches on the side of the movement to maintain balance.* 58:44 🔥 *Advanced slip rope techniques, like rolling, stepping, and punching simultaneously, are demonstrated for a more dynamic workout.* 01:01:36 🤔 *Pros and cons of mitt work in boxing are discussed, featuring Glenn Holmes, an expert in boxing mittwork.* 01:02:03 🥊 *MIT work should be kept realistic to avoid bad form and punches shortening. Unrealistic combinations can hinder actual fight preparation.* 01:02:56 🎯 *Even if the combinations in MIT work seem unrealistic, the goal is to maintain long, explosive punches and accurate defense.* 01:05:14 🛑 *Cons of MIT work include the risk of injury if the coach doesn't provide strong resistance. On the positive side, it creates dynamic targets for the boxer.* 01:06:28 🎯 *MIT work requires zoning in on specific spots for punches, enhancing reactive training. It adds a level of unpredictability compared to the heavy bag.* 01:10:54 🎯 *Cons of MIT work often stem from trainers not doing it right. Keeping it realistic, using proper form, and creating realistic targets are essential for effective MIT training.* 01:11:47 💪 *Good MIT work provides a confidence boost, making the boxer feel good and enhancing overall performance.* 01:12:40 😄 *MIT work is enjoyable and fun, making it one of the most enjoyable aspects of boxing training.* 01:16:21 🔄 *MIT work allows for punch variety, working on punches like uppercuts and body shots that might be challenging on a heavy bag.* 01:17:40 🎯 *MIT work provides a condensed and realistic target size, allowing for more accurate training compared to other equipment.* 01:18:10 🥊 *The wrecking ball or tea drop bag is praised for its softness, enabling hard punches with less impact on hands, shoulders, and elbows.* 01:20:37 ⬇️ *Cons of the wrecking ball include difficulties in rolling underneath, and limitations in practicing realistic body shots due to its size and height.* 01:21:06 🎯 *The wrecking ball provides a big target, particularly for body punches, but its size can also be considered a disadvantage.* 01:21:34 🥊 *Conor McGregor used the wrecking ball for training before his fight against Floyd Mayweather, highlighting its effectiveness in professional preparation.* 01:22:03 🥊 *Hitting the speed bag can be satisfying, but it requires proper technique. The key is to stay close to the bag, ensuring control and avoiding loss of precision.* 01:22:31 🔄 *When trying the speed bag for the first time, standing closer ensures better control, preventing the bag from going off course.* 01:23:01 🥊 *The video suggests watching the next one for a comprehensive guide on throwing punches correctly, providing viewers with essential knowledge about individual punches in boxing.* Made with HARPA AI

  • Love your vids. awesome. I've been using home made reflex balls attached to baseball caps worn backwards for a few months and train with the slip line at the same time. It's awesome. The lighter ball is very fast as it doesn't stretch the elastic very far. The hard ball is easier. I'm putting in elbows and hooks using lateral movement. It's so much fun you don't even notice an hour fly by of constant punching.

  • Top and bottom ball is really useful to stop the heavy handed big lads (that'll be me) loading up and telegraphing back hand shots. I'm an amateur coach and I'll always get my boxers to keep their guards up, and move their feet after every combination on any bag until they are proficient and only then will I let them set their feet. I never let my boxers use the double ended bag flat footed. Heavy bag, maybe.

I got a cobra style reflex bag last year and I feel like it's done wonders for my accuracy and timing, and the way it bounces back also lets me do some work on my defense/footwork. Have you played around with these much? Curious to know your thoughts. Especially on this vs something like a double end bag (I don't have a good place to mount a double end bag or I'd have gotten one instead)

Any recommended brand/model? I have been looking at title and was thinking about the infused foam to avoid having to change bladders but am worried it might not have the same bounce to it.

  • Very informative video, Tony. I hope the younger coaches watch this video. You’ll be surprised how many coaches can’t explain the purpose behind the equipment. ✝️🇺🇸🥊 Coach Mando from the Alamo City.

  • The only boxing equipment I have is: - heavy bag. - speed bag. - old car tire. - regular jump rope. - weighted jump rope. - barbell & weight plates. I don’t feel like I am lacking in any way except for maybe having sparring partners & pad holders.

    • well you need to spar otherwise all your technique will go out the window when you get in the ring. Hitting bags is nothing like a moving person. Sparring is the best teacher it shows you if all your training will actually translate into the ring with an actual trained boxer. You're not complete without sparring

  • Hello Tony I just find your channel and I really like it. I have a question. I'm going to be 17 y.o and I really want to try boxing but isnt it a bit late for it? I mean most of the people start at age 10 or less but I did other sport for 10+ years.

  • Is the speed ball beneficial? Doesn't sound very important, I can do the same movement without one. Or hit the heavy bag for conditioning.
