"PUPPET" Animated Short Film by Patrick Smith

2020 ж. 13 Нау.

Through an escalating series of torture, a possessed sock puppet takes embodiment of fear, chaos, and willful self-destruction.
"Puppet" illustrates the masochistic tendencies of the creative person, metaphorically telling a story of an artists work taking over, and ultimately destroying their life.
Directors Notes:
I originally created this short animation to illustrate obsession with work, but it quickly turned into an exercise in visualizing abuse, particular the kind that is self inflicted. This film was drawn with pencil on paper, the thousands of drawings were scanned, and then colored in Adobe Photoshop, and composited in Adobe After Effects (as all my films are). "Puppet" premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival, and went on to screen in over a hundred film festivals and events world-wide. It was included in a special screening of the best of "Spike and Mike" in Annecy.

    @algireaux1364@algireaux13642 жыл бұрын
    • As I know, it's rather surprisingly common. Heard different answers, but I'd say it can't be far from, like, 1/10 to 1/20 ppl to have this (which should be btw even more common than sadism). Even just for the sense of this- why would you, as an animator-influencer-etc. make an animation about something rare? From the principle you want to catch as many people as possible to watch the vid, it could've been interesting, yes, but there are tons of "such" rare things that (usually just based on their rarity) aren't as popular or/therefore less interesting for the masses you'd be targeting. This way, by animating a rather known topic, you're gaining yourself audience and giving enlightment or… something like that.
