  • I remember reading a quote somewhere that said " the world is in a state of chaos because people are being used and things are being loved instead of people being loved and things being used. "

    • Same. I don't care if my phone slows down A TINY BIT because GOD FORBID I can handle my phone processing apps slightly slower than the speed of light. Fucking unbelievable, I only had my G6 for 5 months and the vibration motor already went out. Thankfully it's under warranty, so I'll make those greedy fucks give me another one for no charge. If that isn't proof for planned obsolescence, I don't know what is. No more flagships after the next one I get for free craps out. Tired of that shit. If I'm going to be literally forced to buy a new one every year or so, might as well let it be one of those cheap smartphones. Flagships don't offer that much more than cheap phones anyway.

      @PaperBagMan884@PaperBagMan8846 жыл бұрын
    • Truecosmos Yeah, it's a shame that shit is unavoidable. Even if you don't have wifi or a wireless device of any kind, there's still cell phone towers everywhere, smart meters, neighbor's wifi that reaches your house, etc. Even if you made your house into a giant Faraday Cage, you would still have to leave your house at some point and get bombarded with emf from all directions.

      @PaperBagMan884@PaperBagMan8846 жыл бұрын
    • Yeah me too, until it becomes literally unusable. Like when apps like youtube update so much your 8 year old phone takes a whole minute to load the hud.

      @devector4122@devector41226 жыл бұрын
    • @@PaperBagMan884 Planned obsolescence exists, but remotely triggered obsolescence probably is just a hoax. If it was true every person who ever bought that product could sue the company in a class action lawsuit and Apple or whatever company these accusations are being levelled at would have to pay a steep fine and replace every product that had been affected by this. For every skilled engineer at Apple or Microsoft there is an equally skilled engineer who can look through the computers code or hardware to see if it has been messed with. Assuming that a ploy like this could get past the planning phase before somebody leaks the story. I remember when Apple slowed older phones because opening certain apps put so much strain on the device that it would harm the batteries. When it was uncovered that Apple added this feature they were forced to repair the battery for every effected phone. Apple is a terrible company but direct deliberated obsolescence only happens on the production line. But other forms of obsolescence like restricting very basic functions to later phone models like emojis, UI options and message mechanics or bloating your phones storage with updates, that result in half your phones storage being dedicated to “system” happens

In some, the contracting companies take over great spaces to industrially cultivate them into condominiums etc. And then the city council can use law enforcement to crack down on homeless which goes into where homeless people go-where a suitable living condition has been established. The Film The Beach with DiCaprio is a good example. But it showed that people will becomes edgelords of manipulation to keep these types of communities tight lipped and of less individuals. Humans cannot get over the obsession of power, which in turn conflicts with the betterment of the greater good. (although the system (Capitalism) that makes companies design devices to brake quickly (not last for long time), don't do it easily repairable, don't do it easily upgradable - *still MUST BE FIXED.* This animation describes *compulsive/impulsive consumerism.* Nowadays the smartphone (and connection to the Internet) can be easily described as two of the basic needs. Simply because it gives access to an incredible amount of information, that one can use to better his/her quality of life.

    • That's a very good question. I went back and tried to look for it, and indeed, it's not there anymore. But it does not change the fact that it's Steve's work. :) Instead what you suggest is: if Steve doesn't want this to be on KZhead, then why did somebody else still upload it? :) Anyhow, I'm not against re-posting the video, since this way we can more easily spread this world-view (so even if he doesn't want - which I seriously doubt - it might still be worth posting the video on many places, for Humanity's sake) I just said that it would have been even better if there was a caption mentioning something like "a film by Steve Cutts". :) It could be a subtitle or any "add-on" to the video that can be done with KZhead's effect editor. ;)

For example businesses that make their money off of lumber and other products that come from trees, always replant the tree so that they may use them again and make even more money off of them. This is exactly why we have the same amount of biomass(trees) in the world as we did 50 years ago. Other than that totally agree.

A forest is a complex ecosystem that takes years to grow and is invaluable in terms of biodiversity compared to an artificial forest made for profit. The loss of biodiversity is a huge problem, the rates of extinction are today one thousand times greater than the standard. Replacing a forest with a cultivation just a few kind of trees is as bad as not replanting them.

The world is clearly overpopulated which stems to about 90% of the worlds problems such as pollution and national conflict, a great majority of people are getting actual mental illnesses and would rather die than try to function in the augmented reality we have created, and much much more that i could go on for hours about. But look at what humans really are. We’re just another species living on this planet that just ended up being exponentially smarter than everything else. Thats all we are. Animals. We have built in genetic coding that through hundreds of millions of years have helped us adapt to living in the wild, fighting for our food, and earning every square inch of what we want, just like everything else. But these past couple hundred or couple thousand years, which is way too short compared to how long we’ve adapted to a normal environment, we have amped up the production of new inventions by such an astronomical amount that it is in my opinion breaking people. Pushing a species into functioning in an artificial, fake, systematic, and depressing society is like trying to squeeze a square into a circular hole. And if you think society is doing pretty good, go turn on the news.

There’s windows to shop and prices to beat! Sing. “Fulfilment is but one shop away; one more purchase to make it to the next day!” And sway. “Follow the fashion every day; and do the things that the billboards say!” Spend and become spent - in a national dance of plastic bags. Load up your credit cards and forget about the debt. Sniff off the places where the bargains are kept . Shake out your frenzy, it’s not closing time yet! Sing. “Fulfilment is but one shop away; one more purchase to make it to the next day!” And sway. “Follow the fashion every day; and do the things that the billboards say!” Dance. Dance. Dance. Buy. Buy. Buy. This is your vice; your army, your war This is your dance; your song and your floor. Dance. Dance. Dance. Buy. Buy. Buy. This is your stage; come sun or cold rain; This is your movement; to dance out your pain. Dance. Dance. Dance. Buy. Buy. Buy. I dont have a car, i dont need one, use a motorcycle its much cheaper. some people that are too dumb to think for themselves fall for advertising then complain that they have no money. Then they want to take away my freedom to do what I want. I hardly have to spend any time working because I don't spend money (not been to work in 6 months, I'm not on welfare just living off savings) life is fucking easy

      @jameskaye9729@jameskaye97296 жыл бұрын
    • Exiled ExDeath What Darius means is that we have the choice and ability not to fall for terrible advertising, and be conscious and objective with our spending (As most grown adults do). There is a clear difference between simply not being a complete slave to ultra-consumerism, and living a life completely devoid of all pleasures and only using money for necessities. What you're suggesting is that by using a washing machine, I'm a slave to the system.

My kids are adults and i now can sit in my room or in a cafe for hours, doing nothing tangible but thinking. This will be perceived as abnormal because doing nothing would mean uselessness or depression in a society that doesn’t allow you be inactive. And most of activities is linked to BUYING THINGS. We forgot that nobody can buy the sun, the sky(here in Geneva it’s mainly clouds though), the sea, the mountains. It’s all ours. And nobody can take away what is really in your mind. That’s how much freedom we have but we don’t see it. Blinded that we are buy the next gen shit to buy.

    • Paper Bag Man Yes, and do you really think the economy back in medieval Europe is better than the economies we have now? Would you like to live in times, centuries ago, where you would have no access to the device you use to watch this video, right now?

    • Paper Bag Man But why should we denie someone the choice to buy a new phone every year? Is that really so bad? People that pay money for those goods also pay the salaries of the people who made those phones who would've been without jobs if it weren't for mass consumerism. Again, other than environmental impacts(which will be adapted to over time), why is consumerism such a terrible thing when it provides quality of life and jobs to people all over the world?

  • People tend to want more and more. People can't be satisfied with what they have now. It's so sad truth.. We must keep the rule 'Do, buy, consume ENOUGH'
