  • This is exactly like a 30 Rock episode where Jack Donaghy insisted the staff to infuse corporate sponsorship into TGS sketches.

    • Brand awareness! Look! We are engaging in organic social media activity about their brand! Maybe this will subconsciously influence our next mobile phone plan decision because of this increased brand familiarity we all now have!

    • How do you think SNL gets made? Where do you think the money comes from to pay the actors, the writers, the crew, etc? Ads. That's honestly why TV and radio were invented-- it's not about creating great art for the sake of creating great art; it's creating art so people will have a reason to watch ads.

    @markhunter3263@markhunter3263Ай бұрын
    • Possibly for permits and shutting down locations. Also easier to control the lighting on a set rather filming on location.

    • That's TeeVee. A client once rented an ultra-modern house in Venice CA for two weeks to film a 30-second TV spot. - decided mid-way that the design "didn't work" - so they built an entire traditional home inside the original house. I never found out how much all this cost , but it was a LOT

    • It must be a union thing. You could take the actors and a camera and a director to a location and be done in an hour. A time lapse of that would look like a tumbleweed flying by.

      @TazTalksYouListen@TazTalksYouListenАй бұрын
    • @@TazTalksYouListenLikely so. And it really looked as if they could have done it all in an hour or two tops when it was all complete. But craft services and wardrobe and set dressers and all were in a dizzy

      @thomaswschaller@thomaswschallerАй бұрын
    • @@thomaswschaller Then maybe the extra expense is worth it to have total control of the acoustics, lighting, outdoors, etc like they did in this skit. Maybe that consistency is worth an extra effort. I'm an artist and I know there is effort in getting correct color, lighting, scale, etc in an artistic project.
