I thought the Kraken actually played pretty well, but the offensive skill of the Oilers just took over in the 2nd period. As much as I hate watching my Kraken lose, it is a treat to watch Oilers hockey. I think this team may end up being the #1 seed in the Western Conference.
I was really impressed by your guys who I understand are at the end of a long hard road trip so you'd think they'd be tired, they didn't look it. They played physical tough hockey.
As an Oilers fan, I was hoping the Kraken kept their streak alive for this game, would have been more intense!

It was just a simple misunderstanding of the rules. The boys thought the second number was supposed to be the big one. Once Chael sonnen explained the misunderstanding they fixed it

12 in a row! This is an unbelievably long win streak! Let's hope we can get the Canadian win streak record against the Flames on Saturday and one step closer to the Penguins league record of 17.
They do get the benefit of being able to win in overtime now. Oilers would have had four ties in this streak, that previously would have ended winning streaks. Montreal won 12 in a row in regulation. That streak will stand for a long time. As will the Islanders' streak of 15 for all NHL teams from before the overtime era.

Oilers are finding ways to win games in different ways, explosive over the last 20+ games.
To say Edmonton benefited from Jay Woodcroft's firing is putting it lightly. A win streak of 12 does not occur under Woodcroft's watch. As for Seattle, time for them to regroup on Sunday when the Leafs to their venue. The Western Conference wild card race is certainly crowded.
Oilers finally looking down at the WC race
You're right, they only had a 9 game win streak last year under woodcroft. The start if the season results was due to horrible Goaltending, Manson trying to implement a new defensive system that resulted in Dmen not transitioning the puck to the forwards. This team was never AS bad as their record indicated. Woodcroft was a very good coach. Just wasn't Jackson's coach. And to he honest, I think Coffey over Manson is the real difference.

Oilers history 12 wins in a row
Hell yes Matt!!
We are reveling in the 12 game win streak. I've seen a few posters wondering why a Gretzky team didn't do this. In '84 coming off their first Stanley Cup the Oilers started the season with an NHL record 15-game unbeaten streak (12-0-3). No OTs then. Some streak as well.
With shootouts that would've probably been a 15 game winning streak but you never know. Rules change and records are meant to be broken.
There were overtime periods of five minute since 1983, which included all of the Oiler cup winning years. But the overtime was played with five on five and if there were no scoring, the game ended in a tie. There were no shootouts until 2005, which then eliminated ties.
Anyone else notice that the replays shown in this video were all Seattle goals? Edmonton's goals were not replayed. The bias shown here is not appreciated, Sportsnet...
They didn't show the major penalty but should be a suspension coming Gourde's way for it.
Whenever a team needs a run like this to make the playoffs they have nothing left in the tank when the final grind starts and EVRYONE is playing hard.
What? Lol okay.
What about the blues when they beat Boston and won the cup? They were dead last before Christmas and they came back and got in and won.

Why do they have to give the other team a 2 goal lead? And after having 5 goals called back in 3 games its nice to see the Oilers getting some help!
Defensive breakdown. They didn’t purposely give the opposition 2 goals. That first goal Ekholm was caught too deep in the O-zone and no one covered Tolvanen. I think Ekholm cause the second goal for Seattle as well. Both Seattle goals were created off mistakes and sloppy defending from the Oilers.

I just want the NHL to explain how the 5 min major and the 2 min minor gave EDM a 3 min powerplay. Its a major and a minor, they dont cancel each other out. Please someone correct me ... but has there ever been a 3 min power play in the history of the NHL when a major and minor penalty has been called??
Anytime there is a coincidental 5 min penalty and a 2 minute penalty, the team with the shorter penalty ends up with a three minute advantage. Usually that starts after two minutes when the minor penalty expires. But, in the last five minutes and in overtime (in the regular season), the rule is different, and the advantage is given immediately so as to not have the time run out before they get that advantage. This is the rule: Rule 19.4 - Last Five Minutes and Overtime - During the last five (5) minutes of regulation time, or at any time in overtime, when a minor penalty (or double-minor penalty) is assessed to one player of Team A, and a major (or match) penalty is assessed to one player of Team B at the same stoppage of play, the three-minute (or one-minute) differential shall be served immediately as a major penalty. This is also applicable when coincidental penalties are negated, leaving the aforementioned examples.
@@my3dviews Thank you for posting that Rule 19.4 !
Did it seem to me alone that the referee was working unfairly?🤨
