Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Penélope Cruz & More on Making It In Hollywood | Vanity Fair

Andrew Garfield, Kristen Stewart, Penélope Cruz, Idris Elba, Nicole Kidman, Benedict Cumberbatch, Michaela Jaé Rodriguez and Simu Liu is quite the star-studded group. For this year's Vanity Fair Hollywood Issue, each actor was asked 8 questions about their craft, times they considering giving up, what they've learned from costars, and so much more. Kristen Stewart knew from a young age she had a lot to learn from Jodie Foster. Singing in Moulin Rouge was the most anxious Nicole Kidman has ever been in her career. Mj Rodriguez recalls the moment she got a call from Ryan Murphy that she landed her role as Blanca in 'Pose.' Andrew Garfield describes the complexity of improvising and making up a song, singing it live, AND playing the piano in 'tick, tick... BOOM!'

  • I love this interview so much it reminds you about the effort the time and the emotional value of being an actor, of playing a different character and making something new. I aspire to be an actor one day and alot of people think that its going to be easy; then interviews like this shows how much and how long it takes for you to call yourself and actor. I admire everyone who decides to audition or even play a character because it is something not everyone can do. vanity fair personally I thank you for getting such actors to speak up about the different times in their carrer and how it had affected them emotionally, mentally and physical and thank you to the actors who decided to join this interview !!

  • I cannot forget William H. Macy's opening sentence in the previous segment: "If you're a one in a million type, there are 7 out of you only in Manhattan." I'd love to see a similar concept but only with screenwriters, Aaron Sorkin, Jordan Peele, Adam McKay, Gillian Flynn, Spike Jonze, Christopher Nolan, Quentin Tarantino, Spike Lee. That'd be awesome!

  • Idris Elba is the love of my life, but...OMG! Benedict is "the voice" of my life. Even when Idris can be extremely handsome and stunning to see, I really really like Benedict's voice. His voice is so warming and comfy. He looks like a great person. And of course, lovin' with all my heart Miss Penélope, such a beautiful accent, such a beautiful and gorgeous woman.

  • Cool interviews, a lot of insights with artists that I love and admire, yet the best bit for me was 30 seconds in, with Penelope accentuating the 'TH' sound on the end of her name, correcting all of us non-Spanish speakers (quite rightly, too) 😂😂😂

  • I like that Cumberbatch said that about he being sort of weirded out by red carpets, because it’s glaringly obvious and I've always wondered what the reason was for his discomfort. When he’s been with Sophie, both of them look stressed. I thought maybe she didn’t like it and he was uncomfortable because of that. Maybe it’s the other way.
