Remember it's all scripted, the contestants know whether they'll be accepted or not before the show begins. The show is for us after all, not for the judges

Bro at first I was like “Isn’t this guy a little too extra lol?” but I really enjoyed the act and smiled when you looked so happy to fool them. Great performance!
Yeah that put me off at first too, but he won me over as the performance progressed. And he looked so crushed when Penn started to give him all those backhanded compliments, couldn't help but empathise.

This acting would have be weird for a card trick, but since he basicly glued himself and dove in peanuts, it works.

This time Penn fooled me. The way he spoke and his compliments really made me think that you didn't fool them.
Penn didn't really give many details, though. The moment he mentioned the "container" for the hero so plainly, I thought it very probable that they were fooled. They never do that unless they're fooled.

Same here. I was like "is Penn trying to communicate something in code or did he fool them?" and then Penn's like "You fooled us!". Came out of nowhere XD
There was one big mistake in the act: Glueing himself, so he can't hug Penn, Teller and Hannigan after winning the trophy.

I agree. I also think he already knew what it would be. I mean, come on. What has Teller been known for? His non-verbal participation. So, you ask him to put down his favorite right from the constitution... it's going to be #1, freedom of speech. I think he had pre-made 1s in his outfit and just picked the one that matched Teller's. It's a good trick that could have went wrong had he assumed wrong. If not that, it has to be the type of peanuts he had Teller choose from. I'm assuming they could have been possibly magnetic, the marker had some element that made it magnetic, or the peanut was pre-coated in a chemical that made it react to a black light or something in the blindfold. I mean, why have him select one from a pre-separated bag of peanuts and then use tongs to drop it in instead of having Teller come up or have the assistant pick one out of the box and hand it to Teller to write on and drop it back in the box? This shouldn't have fooled them.
@@geraldeaves3340 It's... not a 1. It's a T. For Teller. He told him he could just initial it, the amendment thing was a joke. 😅 But he also said to initial both sides, and Teller didn't, and neither was the end result. Also, the peanut had the same chunk missing.

This is almost like a PSA: "Cocaine. Maybe once?"

My guess: he first demonstrates the box, with all peanuts showing. Then with the assistant, they shake and spin the box, then put it on the ground upside down (it had flaps on top and bottom). When he opens the flaps on the new top (previous bottom) there is a device (thin transparent sheet of plastic maybe) that catches the peanut he drops into the box. Then, he dives in, and grabs that thin sheet with the peanut in it, and submerges into the mass of peanuts where he puts the one peanut in his mouth and the thin sheet in his pocket.
I haven’t seen how it was done yet, but I’m guessing the peanut he “found” is not the same as the one Teller signed. Since he got a good look at it before dropping it in, he could have a pen hidden in the box in a way he could find and use it to draw the number on any of the peanuts.

Eric was so natural, consistent with displaying his boyish, naive side from the start to the end, jumping, kicking, punching the air, with joy of celebration. So much positivity and energy. That is magical besides the brilliant original trick. I luvvvv it.

@@LeclericShow I gotta ask, how did you do it? You jump in the box. We hear the SCRITCH sound of the blanket coming lose. The Peanut is on the blanket, and you are blindfolded. Wouldn't the force of the jump just chuck that peanut into the air? What if it ends up under your shoe, you'll step it down into the rest of the packing peanuts. Did you practice with the placement of the peanut drop, and the placement of your feet as you jump hundreds of times just to get it right?

POSSIBLE SPOILER: So much miss-direction aimed specifically at Penn & Teller. Why are the peanuts he offers to Teller in a separate bag? Unimportant. Misdirection. Shaking the box? Painting with glue? Unimportant. What was the most important moment to catch? What he didn't hide. He did the trick right in front of them without trying to hide it. He looked at Teller's peanut. Now he knows exactly what Teller wrote. It's pretty hard to make a very unique "T" on a small lumpy piece of styrophome. It's even harder to spot a forgery from that far away. Once he saw the peanut, all that was left was to jump in a box with a thousand peanuts and a sharpy, make the mark and pop the peanut in his mouth. Truck done. He did exactly what he said he wouldn't do-throw out a red harring. Multiple red harrings, while he brazenly did the simplest thing right in front of them. Woops. I was wrong. That's not how he did it.

Idk how he did it but I would have had the ziplock.of peanuts contain special peanuts with iron pellets in them, and had a really strong magnet on me.

I saw the reveal before I saw the performance. Knowing how it was done didn't take anything away from it; your performance was just that good (and messy). Their guess wasn't far off - theoretically - they knew you had to have a way of keeping that peanut separate, but they didn't figure out the how. Congrats!
Why would it need to be kept separate though? He still had the marker when he went in the box didn’t he? Wouldn’t it be just as easy to write on another one?

@@GhostSal I find "faking" it the most boring ones , it's like cheating. And magic is like ... magic. Faking is lame and takes away from the act , because you can always compare the two at a stop screen and easily tell when it's being fakes or not. Hence breaking the whole concept on the spot.

Awesome act. And I think this is probably my favorite way that Penn has announced being fooled.
I watch this at least once every couple of weeks to just see Eric's reaction at the end, always makes me smile. The pure joy and elation is amazing and you can tell it is so much hard work paying off. I saw Eric first then watched Chris Ramsay and Wes Barker as well and I love their friendship and authenticity in pranks and magic. Original thoughts and ideas and true friendship and showmanship on the internet is rare. Follow this guy, he is awesome! He does everything 1000%! Need more Leclerc on KZhead!

Im not gonna lie, when Penn was talking at the end, I couldn't tell if they had you figured out or not. Either way, I didn't care if they knew how it was done or not, because this was easily one of the most entertaining performances on Fool Us. When he said that you fooled them, my jaw dropped because it came out of nowhere. Congrats!
I interpreted that part to mean: "We can probably guess how you did it, but reality TV is about entertainment and fooling us is a gimmick, so you win" :)

I’ve watched your 40 magic tricks video hundreds maybe even a thousand or more times because ever since you first posted it my daughter always wanted to watch it before bed. Knowing how the trick was done, I'm still impressed every time I watch this. There were no tells especially from Penn and Teller's view, until 8:53 and by then he had already won, and it wasn't a big enough tell to actually give anything away. Very well done. one of the best tricks I've ever seen.

@@thegadgetzone hard for me to tell on a small screen but does the cloth show itself as he's jumping around? That's my only guess. It wasn't fully tucked into his pants and you can see it out the back I think.

What if... the way he looked at the peanut, he memorized the exact way it was written. Jumped into the box, wrote on another peanut. Put it in his mouth and tada!!! Or it's pure magic and fooled me too😬

@@samallcott5171 just watch the video where he reveals the trick. It has nothing to do with rewriting the number. Teller was close with his guess.
the box had a fake botton, before he trowed the peanut he made it upside down. When he jumped inside he got the peanut and his weight destroyed the fake botton. You can see that when the box is at his side you can see the fake botton 6:31.
Besides the trick being awesome, this guy Fabian was the perfect member of the audience somehow. 😄 His chilled and relaxed way fit perfectly.

Such a great act! From start to finish. Well presented. While the effect was brilliant in itself, the best part for me, was seeing his reaction at the end when he heard he had fooled them. Completely touched! I hope I get to meet this guy since he lives in the same area as I do.
Fantastic trick mate. The best thing was tellers face. Judging by his reaction at 6:11 I think he genuinely believed that you messed this up. Then when they cut back to him at 6:34 he looks soo relieved. Also I figured out Helen's trick from this episode, but I have no idea how you have done this.

At 6:20 I think there's a chance that evem Eric himself thinks he's messed up, just for a second. At 2:59 Eric asks teller to intitial both sides, but Teller only signed one side of the peanut. Immideately after Eric opens his mouth, I'm sure he expected a response from the audience, you can see his glance to the camera, which I interpret as being very worreid for just 1 second.
I think after jumping into the box he wrote on a peanut as exactly teller did and put it in his mouth

I remember the dude who did the phone book routine. This is literally the same trick I think. He looked at tellers signature, during the 20 seconds in the box he drew something that looked close enough on a different peanut, And when he fell out at the end he let it go into a pile of peanuts where they wouldn't be able to go look at it again.

He used a cloth that looked like peanuts to create 2 seperate compartments he dropped the peanut onto the cloth so it didnt get mixed up with the others. while in the box he stuffed the cloth down his pants. i think, mayb, he shoulve not looked at the peanut maybe so it wasnt posible to have signed a peanut that looked like the same one like u said.
@@danm7298 You can see the entire top of the box and all the extra peanuts move across the surface. This is very unlikely how he did it. Additionally, that would be much more difficult to be 100% accurate with this method. The method I mentioned is 100% every time.
@@iWinttv yes it is how he did it. He has a video where he explains how. those r the peanuts in the one compartment. On the other side of the box there r no peanuts. Because of the cloth that seperates the two sides like i said
@@iWinttv He has a video showing how he does it. i promise thats how he dies it. the peanuts you see are one the one side. the bottom of the box in the second compartment doesnt have any peanuts.
The trick is so simple when you think about it. For a start, no one can distinguish one packing peanut from the rest. Secondly, writing on a packing peanut is impossible to do well. Teller struggled himself to write anything meaningful on the peanut. The game was up when our magician studied the peanut that Teller had 'wrote' on before entering the box. He then knew roughly what the peanut should look like. Jump in the box. Grab any peanut. Take out a concealed marker and simply mark it similar to the peanut that Teller marked. Stuff it in your mouth. Simple.
It was that obvious it did not occure Penn and Teller.

i think the peanuts on choice had an magnetic coding...and inside the cartoon near the top flap was a magnetic plate hidden...once he dropped the peanut it gets attracted to that plate...when he opens the flap he hides in hand
