want to learn Spanish because I’m a medical professional that wants to be able to have a fluency level and fluid conversation with all my patients, regardless of what language they speak. Effective communication is essential to getting the patient the proper care that they need! Also, I just wanted to say thank you so much for all the language app reviews that you have done. They are incredibly informative and insightful (as the name suggests lol) Anyway! I really liked this video. The pros to both these apps are pretty good. Also, by themselves you recommend them both. Both you also suggested that they could be complementary. Which I never thought about! But I’m still having a hard time choosing which program to go with as you have covered many. Hopefully I’ll be able to decide and hopefully I might be picked as the free giveaway winner! Thank you again for all your time and helpful reviews
Great video for comparing language content! Thank you :)
I’ve been using Rocket and loving it. Interested in adding another program to supplement it, so this was helpful
Great review 👍
Great review
i got rocket about 6 months ago on your suggestion, loving it
I've been wanting to refresh and expand my Spanish, and I appreciate the info you put into your commentary. There's so many options now, and often the free trials don't really give you a good idea of what you're actually getting into. Thank you for laying out some of the differentiating factors!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Nice review, very informative
Thank you!
This was super helpful, thank you! I did my first free trial lesson on Rocket Languages after watching this and I really like how it was structured. Will definitely consider moving forward with them, with Duolingo as a supplement.
Great call! Thanks watching and sharing
Hey John, great video as always! I am learning French since it’s the second language where I live, and learned a bit in high school!
Nice!! Thanks for sharing!
Thank you for this detailed comparison! I think I'm actually going to try both Babbel French and Rocket French because they complement each other well.
Great call. Please let us know how it works out. Thanks for watching!
Thanks for all the info, trying to figure out which system to go with. I wish more of the learning platforms had family plans.
Pimsleur has one of the better family plans. Thanks for watching!
@@TestPrepInsight thanks! I'll go watch one of your Primsleur videos. I didn't even know there were so many options out there.
I’m currently learning Swedish for an upcoming trip. I’ve been checking out your comparisons to see what will help me the most. Plan on visiting many countries and want to be able to immerse myself in the culture.
That's awesome. Good luck, and have fun!
What a great idea to use more than one!
Thank you for the comparing these programs. I am still deciding to purchase one of these and free trail with duolingo.
Glad it was helpful!
Great comparison! I'm always curious to learn about new language learning apps 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I had never even heard of rocket language but really leaning towards giving it a try. I like how gives you options to speak and be part of a conversation in the lesson.
Yeah it doesn't have the name recognition like Babbel but it is very good. Good luck!
Accurate video! Im looking to learn Italian to pass the citizenship language test. I purchased Rocket based on your last review of these 2 and it does require more dedicated time (which I haven’t been able to set aside much). I’m now thinking of purchasing Babbel for the shorter lessons as well. Thanks for the review!
No problem at all! Sorry you don't have more time for the Rocket lessons. If you can find it, they're 100% worth it
Heyo! Did a challenging Rocket lesson last night, really made me think. Love Rocket. I think I would choose Babble as a supplementary courses for Rocket. So I totally agree with you haha!
Thanks!! Glad you agree :)
Great comparison. I’d go with Rocket for the audio lessons.
Babbel and Rocket both seem like great programs. Thank you.
Thanks for these comparison videos! I’m looking to learn German for now, in hopes of a future job move to Germany. I don’t want to wait until moving time to start learning. I’m also looking for something that will work for everyone in my household, and that’s making the choice of resources much more difficult!
That's very cool. It's always better learning with others!
Great Rocket Languages vs Babbel Review 2023 tips. Thanks
I’m going to try Rocket. Thx you!
Great, glad we could help. Thanks for watching!
Thank you for this review. I bought the french course through your link and I am very impressed by their comprehensive course, including grammar and cultural insights AND with the emphasis of conversational skills. I've been using mondly until now, which has that emphasis as well with their "hands free" option after every lesson in the mobile app. You listen, repeat and get a quiz after 2 or 3 words/phrases and your pronunciation is checked as well. What's really missing in mondly is the grammar. While it does have some grammar lessons, there isn't really any explenation how and why you do what you do with the grammar. I have only done a few lessons with rocket french and already learned the three ways to ask a question in french and, which is impressive to me, also the cultural information, that means: rocket french explains in which situation formal/informal which of the three ways of forming a question is appropriate. And you learn a lot more about the culture, for example how small talk is different in france compared to america. So my impression is: if you REALLY want to learn a language, with an understanding of the grammar and cultural insights in the country, rocket language is perfect.
Thanks for the detailed comment. Agree with your insights above, well said. Mondly has its strengths, but Rocket is a more comprehensive and effective program overall.
I want to learn japanese for an upcoming trip and to talk to my mom in her native language! Thanks for the information! I'm leaning to using both as you suggest
Unfortunately Babbel doesn't support Japanese, but Rocket Japanese is a great course. good luck!
Great points. I’d love to win one of these and then I’ll buy the other😊
Another great video. I agree with the idea of using both (if you can). Two different learning methods is great. I’m currently using Rocket and Busuu. I really like both. They are VERY different, so you get the best of both worlds.
Exactly how we look at it. Thanks!
I really appreciate your videos as I'm trying to learn French.
Awesome! What apps are you currently using?
@@TestPrepInsight I'm using Living Language program (someone gifted it to me.) It's big on grammar. It uses vocabulary and grammar mix, but doesn't do a lot of review. Every unit has 4 sections (words, phrases, sentences, conversations). Every lesson has vocab 1, grammar 1, vocab 2, grammar 2. Nice place to keep the grammar essentials for review. I'm also using Duolingo to supplement for now since it's free. But I'm looking for audio based apps for when I finish the Living Language course.
Great video. Learning Spanish. Both sound like they compliment each other.
Thanks for watching!!
Your reviews are super useful! I have been binge watching them. I learn languages as a hobby and for work. Please keep doing the reviews! Awesome! I may be a winner for one of these language reviews. Who knows!🎉😂😅
Awesome, thank you!
Very useful
Learning a second, maybe even a third language sounds like a great life goal. Thank you for the review, I like Rocket from the sounds of it.
Great job on these videos! Thank you so much for doing them. My girlfriend's family is Cuban, and some of them speak very little English, so I am trying to learn Spanish to better communicate with them. I did have a question. Which language platform would you say best combines with Rocket Languages as a supplement for learning Spanish (also same question for Japanese)?
No problem! Glad we could help. So as for best supplemental app, I would suggest either Babbel, Busuu or Memrise. Rocket is fantastic for developing your listening comprehension and speaking skills, as well as grammar, but you also need to build out your vocabulary base. For that, I would use one of the three apps noted above. I know a lot of people combine Rocket or Pimsleur with Busuu.
Rocket Languages is at the top of my list of programs to try!! I'm learning Spanish because so many people in my community speak Spanish. Thanks for another awesome video.
No problem!! Thanks for watching :)
Great review. Because of time constraints I think I'll choose Babbel. But using both seems like a great idea
Good call...thanks for watching!
I'm new to your channel and will keep exploring. I appreciate the insight into both platforms. I am searching for something to use as our homeschool language curriculum. My son did not care for Rosetta Stone. He did not feel supported in the lessons with instruction. What would you recommend for teaching German in a homeschool setting? thanks
Rocket Languages and Pimsleur would be a great start. They are two of the more in-depth programs and would be a good homeschool option. Good luck!
I want to learn Spanish because I’m a medical professional that wants to be able to have a fluency level and fluid conversation with all my patients, regardless of what language they speak. Thanks for sharing! That's a great reason to learn :) best of luck!
thank you for the informative video. I am learning French because I am moving to Algeria
Very cool!
I've been working on Spanish & honestly I've been considering going from Super Duolingo & over to another app. Babble looks like a great choice; especially since I want to eventually learn Japanese, Korean, French, & more!
Absolutely, but make sure to check Babbel's available languages - they don't currently have Japanese
Thanks, sounds like Rocket is the best choice for my Spanish learning plans! But, both together would be a great option!!
Agreed, they make a good pair. Good luck!
I think I may have tried out Babbel once before long ago, but I may give it a try again. Been learning German on and off for a bit but really want to be better with it.
Nice, good luck!
I’ve been using Babbel for about a year now. I’m almost all the way through the program. I’ll probably give Rocket a try after watching this video! Thanks!
Thanks for watching!
Are you A2 fluent in babbel now?
Great video. Would you please make a video about Lingopie ?
We have a Lingopie review coming :)
I’ll be doing volunteer work and my learning Spanish will help me better serve those I will interact with.
Very cool reason to learn :)
I'm learning Korean and Dutch. Korean for fun (I got bored during the pandemic) and Dutch for work. I've been using a variety of learning tools for each.
Nice! What's been the most effective tool for you so far?
@@TestPrepInsight I've been using a combination a Pimsleur, comprehensible impute videos on KZhead, and Drops. Since I'm just starting Dutch I'm thinking I might swap Rocket Languages for Pimsleur.
Strike that... they don't support Dutch yet. Shame because Pimsleur only has one unit for Dutch.
Thank you this is very helpful. I have one question however. I work in emergency medicine and wonder which of all the programs you suggest for me? Thank you
First, for purposes of just learning essential, intermediate Spanish, we recommend Rocket Spanish. It is by far our favorite program. However, it is based on audio lessons, so if that doesn't work for you, we would suggest Babbel or Rosetta Stone (Babbel for faster moving, short lessons and Rosetta Stone for visual learners). For medical specific terminology, check out this course from Mango Languages: mangolanguages.com/specialty-course/medical/ Mango has some pretty good specialty courses for career language purposes. I have not used the Spanish medical one myself, but it is probably your best bet for emergency medicine lingo.
Thanks for the review. I wonder why Rocket isn't more popular! It sounds great!
I think they're still growing and getting awareness...Thanks for watching!
I’ve considered paying for Babbel lifetime in the past. I’ve been thinking about it again recently, which is why I’m here watching this video. Thanks for the insight.
No problem!!
Great insight on this. I really do like Rocket a lot. But I haven’t pulled the trigger yet on buying it. But yeah honestly it is more of an academic course than Babbel. Perfect way to describe it.
Yep, thank you!
I’ve been working on learning German for a few reasons. One is the possibility of going to Germany while still in the army, two because of some native German speakers in my family, and finally to learn a language that can challenge me and is different than the usual Spanish or French speaking bilingual friends I have
All awesome reasons, some of them the same as why I learned. Good luck!
Once I get a little extra cash, I'm planning on getting Rocket Language for Spanish. And possibly Babbel to supplement during the day when I'm a little bored. I'm using the free Duolingo...but obviously that's not as on par as Rocket or Babbel Hoping developing a language learning routine will get me somewhere with Spanish once the New Year comes around.
Good plan. Thanks for watching!
@TestPrepInsight oh thank you thank you
I just bought both Rocket French 1-3 and Babbel for 12month. To pair together. Planning to add Rocket German later.
Nice, great combo! Good luck :)
I want to continue learning spanish and Brazilian Portuguese seems interesting too!
Thanks for watching :)
I bought Rocket Spanish using your discount code.
Thanks and good luck!
I am learning Spanish so I can connect with my grandma and my family, thank you!
That's awesome. Thanks for sharing!
Great review! Thanks! I prefer Babbel ...
Hmm, I won’t do both but I want to check out both. I have the time for rocket but if it doesn’t hold my attention because it’s too dry, then it would be a waste of money because I would lose interest. I need a program that keeps me motivated and moving.
I’m learning Japanese through newly made friends from University! this helps me learn more about Japanese culture and communication
Nice, good reason
Im learning french so I can speak to my wife and our baby (on the way) in french. My wife is a native speaker and ive always struggled with languages and I would love to learn it!
Great reason to learn. It's an uphill battle for some people, but you got it :)
@@TestPrepInsight a good enough reason to win the free course?
I am learning Spanish because I want to be multilingual and Spanish can be very useful. also I'm planning a trip to Mexico and I really want to talk to people in Spanish
Thanks for watching :)
I think I'm tempted to add Rocket to my Babbel to assist. I like Babbel, it's kind of fun! But it's also random. I wish Rocket had a trial period like some others...
I believe Rocket has a 20 day money back guarantee
@@TestPrepInsight I think I saw it was 60 days! 😳
Dear how can I download it Please tell me
I just decided on using babbel and now there is rocket languages haha. Will stick with babbel for learning Swedish :)
Still a good choice!
I'm learning Russian for an upcoming trip to Central Asia, it's a very interesting experience to dive deep into the language
That sounds like fun! Thanks for watching!
Are the lifetime plans for Rocket only for a single language? Because I'd be interested in learning multiple languages if I was paying for a lifetime.
Yes, their plans are for one language only. I don't think they have a multiple language lifetime plan (at least not that I've seen).
@@TestPrepInsight unfortunate. Im really looking for a good lifetime language program that I can learn both Japanese and Spanish from to the point of becoming fluent. If you have any suggestions it would be appreciated.
Rosetta Stone is the main one that comes to mind for lifetime packages that cover both languages...
I am learning Spanish so I can better use the language in my future career in medicine!
Love it!
😊panacea for learning language
great video tempted by Rocket over Babbel
tough call for sure, but Rocket is our #1 ranked program. good luck!
Simple For 15 minutes babbel For 1 hour rocket league. I, as a beginner would learn from babbel first, then go for rocket language.
Thanks for watching and sharing!
wow they sure are expensive
I’m trying to learn Italian so I can talk to the majority of my family :)
That's cool! Would be fun to surprise them with some Italian skills
I'm learning Turkish so I can talk to the family of my girlfriend 🙂
Very cool!
I am learning Russian for work.
Really? That's cool
I want to be fluent in Spanish because I am planning on moving to Ecuador or Spain in the next two years. I really want to be fully immersed and comfortable in my new home and learning the language is the best way to do that. I was stationed in Germany in the Air Force in the '80's. I really wanted to get immersed in the country, but since I didn't speak the language I was always afraid to venture out and explore. It was a drag. I do not want that to happen again. Thanks for the language learning app reviews. Great info!
Could be very different experiences whether you pick Spain or Ecuador. Either way, sounds like fun :)
