▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬
Rocket Languages vs Pimsleur Review (Which Course Is Best?). In this video, John from the Test Prep Insight team compares the language learning programs from Pimsleur vs Rocket Languages. To complete this review, John partnered with a polyglot who is fluent in English, German, French, Italian and Spanish. John talks about how the language lessons from both of these companies compare as well as the learning framework behind them. Overall, John was quite impressed with the interactive audio-lessons from both Pimsleur and Rocket Languages. He thinks these lessons are a great tool for users to practice their speaking and conversational skills. Of course, both language learning courses also offer drills and exercises than span reading, writing and listening. John does point out though that Rocket Languages beats Pimsleur when it comes to the depth of grammar instruction and the accuracy of its speech recognition technology. All in all, John thinks both of these languages apps belong on the list of best language courses. He thinks they are great options to become fluent in a new language, whether you're looking to learn Japanese, Chinese, Russian or Korean. Thanks for watching this Rocket Languages Review vs Pimsleur Review.

As always. Great comparisons and concise explanations.
I really liked the different features both have with individuals speaking in the native languages. I feel it would be nice to hear sentences and getting a feel for hearing the languages. Thank you for this post!
Thanks for watching Justin!
Thanks for the info!
Great review, thank you.
Thank you for such a detailed comparison. I'm looking forward to tackling Spanish as a refresher (I was fluent a decade ago) as well as taking on another language such as Japanese (I was stationed there when I was in the Marines). Thanks again.
No problem! Good luck
I've learned so much about all the different language learning programs out there from you. The comparisons and points you've emphasized about each program are very helpful in being able to choose a course that works the best for everyone.

I've been learning French on Dulingo and am looking to supplement my learning with an additional program. Your informative videos have been quite helpful. Thank you for making these comparison videos for all of us.
No problem! Glad we could help! With Duolingo, if you want to become truly fluent, you'll definitely need a secondary program. Good luck!
Thanks for the info! This is all really useful.
Thanks for watching!
Thank you sir. Keep up with the good work. Such a helpful content 🙏🏾
Thank you!!
Such helpful comparisons and insights. Thank you!
No problem! Thanks for watching
Great, detailed review! Thank you!
Thank you!
Thank you, this is the comparison I have been looking for 👍
No problem 👍
Always such great comparisons and helpful review insight. Being bilingual is such an advantage in today’s day and age and I feel like either Pimsleur or Rocket Language would be a viable option!
Great analysis of the two programs. I was still a little on the fence but this clearly broke down all the critical components. Thank you!
No prob! Glad we could help :)
Thank you so much for this informative and easy to digest video! I stumbled upon Mondly and found your review, but upon learning it wasn't the best for conversational language and grammar, I followed your recommendation to this video! Rocket Language is definitely what I'm looking for to learn Brazilian Portuguese. Looking forward to using it! Definitely earned a new sub :)
Awesome! Glad it was helpful. Thanks for watching Kyre!
I'm Brazilian! If you'd like to learn more about Brazilian Portuguese contact me! :)
I just like that you guys use time stamps. It's 2022. Why don't all content creators do this? Appreciate the review! This is extremely helpful.
Thanks! Agree re: the time stamps :)
Thanks for the great comparison of the apps...Very helpful
No problem 👍
great work! awesome vid thank you for the info
No problem! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the thorough comparison of Rocket and Pimsleur. Always appreciate your short concise reviews. Both Rocket and Pimsleur sound like great options with their native conversational emphasis, but I prefer Rocket with its additional focus on pronunciation and a country's culture. Thanks TPI!!
Glad you like them!
Finally! I've been waiting for an app like pimsleur to come out because i'm a fan of it since young. now i'm excited to try Rocket language! thanks for the thorough review.
No problem! Glad it was helpful
Thanks so much for the review and discount! I went with Rocket, per your recommendation.
Glad we could help! Best of luck, and let us know how it goes with Rocket!
Great review man. I know which way to go now. Thank you : )
No problem 👍
Thank you, I think I have pretty much settled with Rocket Languages now thanks to your reviews 👍
Nice, glad we could help :)
It has been so worth spending a couple of hours watching your comparison videos. Thank you so much.
Thanks for watching Jane!
Thank you for your videos! I’m trying to learn Italian and find myself all over the place between workbooks, KZhead lessons, flash cards, etc. Very informative and I believe I’m leaning towards Rocket Italian. Also, didn’t know about the certificate! I want that baby on my wall!
haha heck yeah!! Good luck :)
Both seem like great options. It’s a close call between Pimsleur and Rocket. Thanks for the review.
Very helpful video. Thank you.
Thanks for watching Tim!
Thank you for these videos, I am leaning toward Rocket Language more and more each day!
Thanks for sharing! Glad we could help
After watching some of your other videos, I was leaning towards using Pimsleur, but now I might try Rocket Languages first to see if I like it. They both seem to be top-notch learning techniques. Thanks for this video!
Thanks for watching!
Have any information to share about rocket now that 9 months have passed?
Thank you. You were a great help to me to choose the right app I agree primsleur and Rocket are the best
Thank you for the excellent video. I'm going to try rocket and use the discount link provided as it appears to still be valid.
Awesome, thank you!
Loved this comparison. I've never heard of Rocket. I think I need more than audio, I enjoy the visuals.
Thanks for watching Sheri!
Thanks much appreciated 👍🏻
No problem 👍
you covered it all including pricing. Thanks.
Thanks for the insight. I was about to subscribe to Pimsleur but am going to give Rocket a try on your recommendation. Thanks!
Right on. Good luck! Let us know if you like it/ which one you end sticking with. Always love hearing that feedback
great review👏👏👏👏
Thanks for watching!
Thanks for these videos! I want to be fluent again in Spanish. I was many years ago but lost a lot of the vocabulary by not using the language. After watching a lot of your reviews, I think I am going with one of these two.
Good call! Thanks for watching!
I signed up for the free trial on Pimsleur, thanks!
Nice! Let us know how it works for you
Your videos are really great, thank you so much. I was just about to go for Rocket Spanish but I noticed they have only Spanish (Latin America)? Is it much difference if I wanted to learn original Spanish?
Yes and no. There are some key differences between Latin American Spanish and Castilian Spanish for sure, but not to the point you wouldn't be able to communicate with both types of speakers. It more so depends on why you want to learn Spanish. Who do you want to communicate with mostly? Latinos or Spaniards? Pimsleur offers both versions of Spanish
Thanks for the rocket language code I use it for Rocket Spanish You are the best it's my number-one trustworthy channel before purchasing anything
Wow thanks for the kind words!
I recommend your channel to all my friends 😊
Thank you!!
I love learning languages. and I really need to learn some basic Arabic in the next 60 days. Thanks so much for your insightful videos. I will be living and working abroad soon and it will literally be life saving and life changing for me to have some basic to moderate language skills. Thanks again.
That is awesome! Good luck! Glad we could help :)
very close call, the two sound very similar. i'm torn. i like the sound of rocket's course better with the extra lessons, but might try pimsleur's free trial before diving in. thanks!
Im currently drifting between Pimsleur an rocket language. The seen both so good. Hard decision. Thanks for the video 👍🏼
Glad we could help. Thanks for watching!
thank you!
No problem!!
I have Rocket Language and was thinking about adding Primsleur only because I put Rocket Language off and forgot about it after 2 years. I guess I was looking for something better and wasted a lot of money on other apps and tools. I am glad I found this review. I’m going to dust off Rocket Language and stick with it.
Helpful video. Thanks. It should be understood that Pimsleuer does not offer much written word support for its lessons because it believes that reading detracts from good pronunciation. This approach sometimes requires the user to concentrate and listen very hard and even sometimes to seek outside help, but I believe it does result in superior pronunciation skills.
Great point - thanks for sharing!
Thanks for the video. I've been using Michel Thomas and DuoLingo for Japanese, but I'm looking for an additional learning tool. I'm thinking I'm going to go with Rocket Languages. I'm not into subscriptions and Pimsleur was $150 per level or $500+ for levels 1-5. Rocket seems to be cheaper. $180 for level 1-3.
Yeah for lifetime, Rocket offers better value
Really helpful. I have been looking at twenty sites comparing best Spanish language learning courses and remained undecided. Looks like Rocket is the winner!
Safe call! Good luck!
Check your Library!!! My local library gave me access to Rocket Languages for free which includes the full app and website. I saw that pimsleur CDs can be borrowed, but having a whole app is hands down the best option.
Great review. Thanks. I'll pick Pimsleur because I need Castilian Spanish.
Sweet! Thanks for watching!
Perhaps the best thing that Pimsleur has going for it is the number of languages. If whatever platform you prefer doesn't have the language you want then you go with one what does, and with a few exceptions that's Pimsleur.
It's super fun to learn new languages! 😇
We agree!
Voice recording software not available for pimsleur, not so... or at least not so any more. They have voice coach, but it's in beta and I don't know when they rolled that out; I signed up about 2 months ago because I had bought their cd volumes in a local used book store for French and thoroughly enjoyed the repetition style they were doing. When I learned about their subscription service, I jumped at the opportunity to unlock all their languages. Presently, I'm continuing French, Chinese and German, and starting Hebrew completely fresh. So far, I've thoroughly enjoyed their system- including their reading lessons designed to help get their writing system down.
Thanks for watching and sharing about the new voice coach - we'll check that out
I used Pimsleurs free trial for French years ago, and still remember some basic phrases!
Nice Thanks for watching Israel!
@@TestPrepInsight pimsleur has lifetime subscriptions too.
I want to learn a new language because it allows me to travel more and see the world
Both of them are great
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
I have both apps now but recently added rocket. Used pimsleur for over an yr and it's very affective...too early to give a review on rocket.
Sweet! Let us know which one you end up liking better long term
feel free to update us.👀👀
x'lnt review on rocket and pilsner
Interesting the pimsleur I got was on audible the Norwegian
If your beginner I recommend Pimsleur ( Listen and Recall ) and LingoDeer ( Repeat Everyday common phrases ).
That's a good combo
I just came across your videos looking for what language course would be best for my mom. I would love to win a language course for my mom. She came to the US 20 years ago and knows some but isn’t fluent. She is a single mom, I am her oldest and the one that helps her with everything. Helping her doesn’t bother me because thanks to her I am now a resident of this country and have achieved so much but I feel like always helping her is also causing her harm. She could be learning English and not be dependent on me. Like the saying goes “If you give a man a fish, you feed him for a day. If you teach a man to fish, you feed him for a lifetime.”
Incredible story! You're a great kid for looking after your mom like that. That's awesome :-)
I am learning Castilian Spanish. Is it still be beneficial for me to use rocket language?Or should i choose Pimsler instead?
For Castilian, I would recommend Pimsleur (since they have a dedicated Castilian Spanish course)
I would like to learn Spanish. I work in health care and we have a large Spanish population where I live. It would be nice to be able to better communicate with patients.
For sure! Good luck!
What would you recommend for lifetime access, program allows you to become proficient, has Latin, SPanish, Greek, Hebrew, and Italian. Important Language for us: Latin
Latin? I'm not sure any program offers Latin to be honest. Otherwise though, Pimsleur is probably your best bet. They cover 51 languages, including the others you mentioned. And you can get all language access for $21/month.
I tried a lot of Latin American Spanish learning resources for years on and off ( Pimsleur, Babbel, Memrise, Lingq, Rocket Spanish etc….) though they all have their specific strengths and some are very detailed and comprehensive but whatever I learn I forget very soon like a leaking bucket ….but with Pimsleur, whatever I learn gets stuck in my brain and even in my dreams lol…I don’t forget even months or a year later….strong recall is Pimsleur’s strength…..
That sounds like a Yoda quote: "strong recall is Pimsleur’s strength" haha. Thanks for sharing!
Rocket sounds great, but they only have 14 languages available. I’m wanting to learn Farsi and they don’t have it, Pimsleur does. I also just bought a lifetime membership to Rosetta Stone, which also has Farsi and Rosetta Stone is shockingly bad. Poor navigation, not mobile optimized, very confusing navigation, every other app I have used is better. Pimsleur is great so far, so I’m moving forward with that. I wish Rocket had Farsi. I’d buy it immediately.
Thanks for sharing your experience with Rosetta. Pimsleur is a rock solid course, glad you like it!
I wish rocket used spaced repetition better. I also wish they had conversations for each lesson. I’m 60 days in on rocket and I’m still using both apps daily. With Pimsleur I needed to go back to day 10 and repeat. I’m only on lesson 32 in Pimsleur but day 82 days of learning. I’ve also taken 5 lessons on italkie.
Wow, you're going to make a ton of progress with that combo :)
I also like how rocket languages has the lifetime opportunity whereas other language apps or websites wants you to do a monthly subscription. You could just pay for the language class and be done paying for it
The biggest disadvantage of all English courses is they assume that all people speak one AmE accent.
"Ouino" Italian course review, please.
Say you get the first tier of rocket. Can you upgrade to tier 2 later on?
Yes, and the cost isn't that much more than buying upfront I don't think
@@TestPrepInsight thank you
No problem!
For the giveaway: I love that Rocket Languages has Spanish from Latin America. I want to help communities there after my studies so that’s why I want to learn Spanish. I hope I win the subscription to 1, 2, 3 Spanish (Latin America) because sadly I don’t have the money to buy it.
Well you're entered. Thanks for watching!
@@TestPrepInsight that’s amazing! 😍 When and where will be the announcement of the winner of February? Fingers crossed 🤞🙏🏻
@@TestPrepInsight And.. who won 🎉🤞?
Pimsleur works very well for me for French and Spanish, but not at all for Chinese. Rocket Language is - for me at least - the better choice for Chinese.
Cool 😎
Rocket seems like the only language learning program that has an effective advantage over Pimsleur.
Yes, I think so at least. Thanks for watching!!
I am learning German to pursue my bachelors.
yo dude I am on the same track
Rocket languages seems to be the way to go...Pimsleur bored me at times(probably cause of my ADD) and the overwhelming blue makes me feel like I'm in a psych ward at times...but it isn't a bad programme if you can pay attention for the 30 mins
All fair points!
I aspire to be fluent in Spanish 😁
I'll use Rocket for French and Pimsleur for Hebrew.
Nice!!
None of the popular English language course is good enough maybe a LingQ is worth to try...
I don't like Rocket because it uses a non native speaker in the classes.its hard enough to get the right pronunciation without the non native speaker teaching incorrect sounds. The moment I hear 'Salou', I'm outta there.
I like your reviews but you don't cover the most important: How much did you actually learn?
Hi! I love your channel :D. Do not waste your time = P r o m o S M !!!
I want to learn Japanese so I can have more enjoyable and meaningful conversations with my wife and her family :)
Let us know how the learning journey goes!
Probably should've learn Japanese first.
