Duolingo’s lack of grammar lessons hurts your learning experience. Most of the time, you must structure your sentence based on what feels right, which makes it unclear to users when they make a mistake.
Exactly!! One of my biggest complaints about Duo. Their grammar instruction stinks
Duolingo Spanish has actually helped me reinforce certain areas, also I feel like it is more accessible
Test Prep Insight has the most important informative videos! Thank you for being so thorough.
Really insightful as always❤Keep up the good work!
Thanks for watching!
I just discovered your channel while doing a research for language learning methods. I'm Argentinian, and in a long distance, +1 year relationship with the Polish love of my life, we plan to meet this year for the first time. I love the quality of your explanations, your sincerity and the generosity of the channel, it'll certainly give me more efficient paths to learn Polish in the long run. Whether I win a giveaway, that's something else, but for now, all I can say is keep the great work up!
That's awesome. Best of luck learning!
Espero que no te desplume con el dinero
Thanks for your comparison insights... so much great information!!
Nice, glad it was helpful! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for the video!
No worries!
I’ve had Duolingo for a while and getting sick of it. Thinking about switching to Babbel. Thanks for this video
awesome content, super helpful comparison
Glad you think so! Thanks for watching :)
I’m learning Spanish because it is so commonly spoken in my area and around the world. I also love the sound of the language. That started with my crush on Salma Hayek. Inspiring Spanish learners around the globe since the 90’s. Gracias Salma. 🙏 Para todo.
Thanks for sharing!
love your videos!
Very informative
Thank you! Babbel sounds like what I'm looking for. You saved me time and money.
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching
I’m going to be travelling and finding out the difference between language apps is super helpful thank you!
No problem, glad we could help :)
Excellent Babbel Spanish vs Duolingo Spanish video. Thanks
Great insight! I would like to learn Spanish in the future 😊
You should! Thanks for watching!
Thanks for the insightful comparison! I’m interested in learning Spanish because I just like learning languages in general, but have never tried learning Spanish.
Cool, good luck!
I definitely appreciate babels grammar lessons. I hope to eventually gain competence in Spanish to connect with other people and advance my career
Yea, Babbel's grammar instruction is far superior
@TestPrepInsight, I have watched several of your videos and appreciate the reviews. I kind of a situation I was hoping to get your help with. I have intermediate to advance skills in Spanish. I have never had any formal Spanish classes or training. I learned through immersion. This being the case, I can't read or write in Spanish, not effectively, at least. Sometimes my grammar is wrong, as I'm not following any learned rules, just what sounds correct to my ear. When I use Duoling, I struggle with spelling and some grammar. I don't see my situation covered in any learning applications or programs. Honestly, they all look good, and it's difficult to choose. Any suggestions on a learning application or program that might be a good fit?
Hi, based on your situation described above, I would recommend checking out Babbel or Busuu for learning to read/write. Rocket Spanish and Pimsleur are our preferred choices for listening/speaking, but it sounds like you already have that covered. Give Babbel or Busuu a try for working on your reading/writing. Good luck!
@@TestPrepInsight Thanks!
I’m learning Spanish to be able to understand my friends home languages so thank u so much!!
no prob :)
I'm learning Spanish because my dad and his side of the family are from Puerto Rico and he never taught me. We all get together often and my mom and I are the only ones that don't speak Spanish and I would love to be able to join in on the conversations! Would love to try out babbel!
That's an awesome reason to learn!
Not learning Spanish, but I am generally keen on learning languages. Duolingo helped me with learning basis korean. Thanks!!
I’ve used both programs and I feel like Babbel is better for actually learning how to speak the language. I had a much better understanding of the language when using it. Duolingo is fun to use but I don’t feel like I’m learning as much as with Babbel.
Spanish was my first language but im here for a chance to win a cpa review. As always great informative video, keep it up!
Awesome! Thank you!
I’ve used Duolingo before and I wasn’t a big fan. I definitely agree that Babbel is better.
I'm learning Spanish because I'm planning a trip to Mexico this Spring. Currently using Duolingo, but am looking to use Babbel.
Great call :)
Awesome
The grammar on duolingo definitely got much worse after they removed the little section explaining the grammar so you kind of just have to vibe the rules which isn't the worst. Though when I'm very stuck I will often google what the rules are lol. I think the major aspect for duolingo for me is the social aspect. Just saying I have a large streak feels like an accomplishment and makes me want to keep going. And friend quests are fun ways I can engage with friends who are also learning a language. I'm not sure what would keep me motivated with Babbel to keep learning if I wasn't learning with a friend. Great video as always! Keep up the good work! :D
Thanks for watching and sharing! I think you're right - the social aspect is clearly the best part of Duo
Would it be possible to compare Babble and Busuu? I feel like they're close but Busuu has a strong free version. I'm wondering if Babble is worth the money when compared.
we did a Busuu vs Babbel comparison about a year ago. Busuu does have a good free version, but still prefer Babbel in the end. make sure to check that vid out
@@TestPrepInsight I will! Thank you for letting me know
I am doing doulingo free lessons for now but I think I will sign up for Babbel. Thank you
No problem, and thanks for watching 👍
Well I am not currently learning spanish but might one day try it fs.
Essentially, Duolingo for casual learning of important words, Babbel for a committed learning of fully fleshed out spanish (for a cost)
Yes, exactly! Babbel is just so much more comprehensive. Thanks for watching!
I've used Duolingo Spanish, but now I might try Babbel!
Earlier today, duolingo asked me to translate a sentence. The sentence was "i do not have four houses" It makes sense, sure, but it just made me laugh because it's such a bizarre thing to say.
Compare the "course" duration of both and you will see that Duolingo is simply 4x longer. You'll spend 60-70h hours to finish Babble, while Duolingo takes 200-300 hours. Duolingo is more complete. It's just that you're advancing faster in Babbel and you´re thinking this one is more complete. But not. Take Duo's advanced lessons and you'll find that the lessons are great too. The fault of the Duolingo app, in my opinion, is in the voice of the characters, who are very robotic.
I used to think Duolingo was the standard for language learning since I saw everyone using it, it’s been a slap in the face finding out that it has so many features missing 😭 i kind of understand though, while you learn individual words and VERY specific phrases, it takes forever to actually gain some soft of conversational knowledge and is severely lacking in speaking practice
Very good points! Well said
I would love to be able to use babble!
Go for it!
Finishing the duolingo path will end with you likely being A1 fluent. Certain because outside reading and conversations for 2-3 years.
Agree, not ideal
Thank you so much for comparing these two. I feel like they're dulling when it comes to advertising.
yeah, they are. good to understand the differences before starting. Thanks for watching!!
Great insight! I am using free version of Duolingo because I can't afford to pay for a language app right now.
Thanks! Good luck learning
going with Babbel, need a more comprehensive app. thank you!
Good call and good luck!
I'd love to learn Spanish. One thing I never get is why don't they let users choose the accent we want to learn. It like, imagine if you could choose to speak with a British accent in English. Wouldn't that be a pivotal decision?
some apps actually do, like Pimsleur. they offer language courses by dialect
I am learning spanish because I love the people and culture in Costa Rica
Me too :)
Thanks ¡Pura vida!
Hoping to be able to take to my brother and brother in law in Spanish.
haha nice!
I want to learn another language other than English!
Everyone really should :)
if i was going to use another language app I'd go with Spanish because that's what I originally started with on duo plus my ex was from mexico city thus you never know when another Latina will come my way. hahaha
haha nice
Spanish or vanich La la la la
I've tried DuoLingo in the past but want to try Babbel. Giving the pricing it may be better to get Babbel and supplement your language learning with the free version of DuoLingo.
Yeah great call. Thanks for watching :)
love your videos!
Thank you!!
