▬ ABOUT THIS VIDEO ▬
Rosetta Stone vs Babbel Review (Which Language App Wins?). In this video, John from the Test Prep Insight team covers his updated comparison of the language apps from Babbel vs Rosetta Stone. These are two popular programs for learning Spanish, German, and Italian. Rosetta Stone and Babbel also offer language courses for French, Russian, and Portuguese. John talks about what the Babbel and Rosetta Stone lessons are like. For example, the Rosetta Stone lessons are better for visual learners since they use a ton of graphics and visuals. The Babbel lessons, on the other hand, mix in more grammar content and offer a greater variety of practice drills across reading, writing, speaking, and listening. Ultimately, if you are trying to become fluent in a new language, John thinks Babbel is the way to go. He thinks Babbel is one of the best language learning apps on the market. Thanks for watching this Babbel app review and Rosetta Stone app review video.

  • I’m retired, but for my mental health and some extra spending 💰, took a cashier job at Home Depot - I love it. But, what would really make me the cats 🐈 meow would be to blow away the Hispanics who come through my checkout. I want to be the blue-eyed gringo who speaks fluent Spanish. Thanks for the video. Out of the two contenders, I think I’ll be going with Babble as well.

  • Babbel just feels more like more expensive version of Duolingo or memrise which I can use for free so I passed on it. I can't speak of the past but I got Rosetta Stone's lifetime code off Amazon during the holiday sales so it was much cheaper. There is now writing exercises, reading exercise and some that focus on grammar (having to pay attention to the gender, topic markers, etc...depending on language) and listening and speaking. Also babbel is lacking in languages despite the price which is another reason why I passed. I feel like I learned a lot even though at times I am repeating words over and over but I am getting better at pronunciations and remembering the words. I am more a visual learn so that's probably why I like it more. Though there is a way to see translations (not sure for all languages; but the ones I am learning such as French, Korean and Japanese, etc...do have them if you click on this little part about the picture. I think the point is to make it less obvious so you try thinking in your target language first and figure it out and more of an aid if you are still struggling. Like dictionaries. There are there to help you if needed but not something you should also heavily rely on. The more I see and hear the language the more I get familiar with it which actually helps.

Therefore, I always assumed it was the best or most established program for Spanish. The more I learn about different language programs, thanks to you John, I believe that Babble would be more catered towards my way of learning. I have several friends from Mexico and Puerto Rico, and I would love to carry on full conversations with them in Espanol. The language is so beautiful, and so are my friends. This has been a lifelong desire, and I have taken a couple of courses, but I can’t afford to continue with classes in college, so I’m hoping to pursue fluency with a language app like Babbel. 🥰

    • Yes, Rosetta Stone even differentiates some dialects, like learning Spanish in Latin American style or in the style spoken in Spain and Europe. This can be very significant culturally if you are planning to visit or live in either area. They also have different dialect options for English (British vs American) and Chinese. There may be more, but those are the three that I'm aware of.

      @crocodile1313@crocodile13133 ай бұрын
  • Spaced recall is very important, that is why I prefer the review from Rosetta Stone. There is a delay giving space and time before the review. This makes recall a little harder. However this is what we need to have true long term learning. Let’s take the fallacy of “visual learner” off the table. That is not what makes Rosetta Stone effective. It is having to use brain power to figure out meaning. We do not learn through translation. The founder of Duolingo will tell you that. Just read his April 2023 article in the New Yorker. These are some of the reasons I lean Rosetta Stone.

  • I need to make a suggestion: if you are going to provide a “Babbel vs. Rosetta Stone” review, you need to start with asking “what language do you want to learn?” The answer to that question may make the selection for you, so you don’t have to sit through the remaining 12 minutes of the video. Fortunately I thought about that question a few minutes in and checked their websites, where I quickly discovered Babbel doesn’t offer Tagalog, while Rosetta Stone does. So it’s Rosetta Stone for me.

I think he is dyslexia and he has adhd too. So that’s what led me to your bodies. Thanks for comparing the different programs. After watching a few of your vids, I’m prob gonna go with Babbel.

  • Acho sou aquele que tem que realmente sentar e estudar, comprei o Babbel por 3 anos e poucas vezes realmente parei e fiz, fiquei decepcionado pelo Rosetta não ser a melhor opção, aqui no Brazil, valor deles é absurdamente diferente a assinatura vitalícia do Babbel chega a ser 3x maior, o que deixa o Rosetta muito sedutor.

  • I used babble and I wasn't very happy with it because the software is not designed for people that have learning disabilities for example. Rosetta Stone is a little more friendlier with people that have learning visualization is good for people that have learning disabilities that also have short term memory they need some type of assistance to remember what they've seen. I found Babel to be completely the opposite I found it very difficult to work with I found them rushing too much and I also found it not very enjoyable versus Rosetta Stone is much more enjoyable to use for example. They're not too many programs out there factors probably none of them that deal people that short-term memory and people that have learning disabilities not that Rosetta Stone as the best one but I find it helpful and I'm still yet to find something better. You know people can learn Russian for example like through vocabulary or they can learn it through grammar I'm on the path of trying to learn through as much vocabulary and then I can get into the grammar later.

  • It was disappointing to hear that Rosetta Stone's speech recognition still doesn't work. I experienced the same issue in 2017. Even using a headset with a microphone didn't help much. When customer support said their speech recognition was a known problem, I quit using Rosetta Stone and went to Babbel.

  • It started as a distraction tool/coping mechanism for my CPTSD. I chose Arabic to honor some of the Iraqi translators that served with and supported us in Iraq and then were fatally punished for doing so. I’m not that far in, but if I can pull off fluency then I’d like to help any Arabic speaking refugees I can.

  • When I was a teen using Rosetta Stone, I got stuck trying to say a word or phrase and couldn’t get past it. Like the program stopped because it wouldn’t accept what I was saying. Is there a way to skip that now? I feel like it had to have been an error because I probably tried 50 times before I stopped and never touched it again.

  • You forgot the most important thing how many languages does each app offer Rosetta has way more and is cheaper compared to Babbel. I do like the learning plan of Babbel as you get a bit more out of it and can learn a bit quicker, but they lack the languages I want to learn l. I personally would use both for a targeted language.

  • Rosettenstein teaches you the languages more the way like you learned a language as a child, which I really like about, bc about the grammatical rules and stuff, apps not really helpful (at least the apps I saw) soo… anyways I looking for grammar in internet where you can find about any languages and read it and get into it, but practicing the languages likes writing and learning vocabulary like back in the school brings nothing at least for me..
