Great battle🎉 Both teams were losing pucks in the neutral zone. Lots of firepower on both sides but neither seems to enjoy playing defense which is what you must have in the postseason. The SG was crucial. Without that goal we probably do not see OT.

The sieve that is called the Leafs’s defence allowed three straight goals to take the game into overtime! Brad Treliving must do something to that defence, but he loathes trading away either Nylander or Marner. He’ll rile up Matthews if he did the latter, his BFF.
The Marner shootout goal was a microcosm of the entire game; almost screw it up stupidly then show a flash of brilliance just at the end to barely squeak it out.

I thought the Leafs played a pretty good game tonight. They carried the play for most of the game. Nylander was electric and Woll came up big in OT and the shootout. However, leafs gotta lock it down at 4-1.

@@Mattoilers97leafs dominated most of the game. They could've easily had 6 or 7. Woll was a bit shaky early and the flames got some lucky bounces wich led to goals. Leafs deserved the win.

Woll, again, was not great. Yes he came through in OT and the shootout but he let atleast 2 in that he should have had, not including the one called off. The fact that Toronto didn't get a PP as of early in the second, despite several that should have been called, was bs.
@@edited1325 my point is that the leafs didn't really give up many high danger chances. 1st goal is on Woll. 2nd and 3rd goal were from distance. 4th goal is really the only one I would be upset with when it comes to d zone coverage.
I didn't get to watch the game but did keep checking the scores. At one point I checked and said, "Wow, we're up 4 - 1......oh NO!......we're up 4 - 1!."

Flames came into this game the top 2-3 worst offensive teams in the league. This is the worst kind of win for the Leafs, they'll celebrate when they should take it as good as a loss if they want to improve. My guess is Keefe is all smiles and patting them on the back, which is a big mistake.
I can guarantee you it will be the exact opposite. Keefe will be happy with the win but he'll be pissed they didn't lock it down at 4-1.

You think Shanny lets Keefe treat his sensitive children hockey players like that? They are much too soft on these guys, that's the problem. Tonight was not a good night for the Leafs and Keefe is probably at a loss of what to do next to improve it. But the players are probably high-fiving like they just won another pond hockey game. Nothing changes.

I dont think the Marner SO goal should have counted; I thought that the play was supposed to end when the puck goes backwards, as it clearly did when he lost control of it.
I believe it’s more about the player skating backward that would disqualify the goal, not the puck itself going backward.

As leaf fan, I am not satisfied. Lets be honest, they barely beat Calgary, blew another big lead, and if they have to score 5 to 6 goals per game just get into a shoot out and a possible win, well they aint gettimg anywhere this year like that. I have lost all faith in this team. Another OT win at home. If it wasn't for OT wins they wouldn't have any wins at home. They have decent scoring upfront and that's about it. Two bad games for Woll now and that surprises me. He was bouncing all over the place both games when he is usually a quiet, little movement goalie. That's a big red flag there. If both him and Sammy start losing confidence, they are going to be in the same boat as Edmonton. The only good news here is at least they played a little scrappy for a change.

Yeah, he was definitely shaky in regulation. I dont blame him for the 2nd and 3rd goals but the 1st and 4th were a little soft. Like you said though, he was solid in OT and the shootout.

This game was a great example of why the NHL needs to get rid of the shootout. Leafs blow a 4-1 lead, get dominated in OT, and then use Marner as a cheat code.
