Whisper Jacket Men Autumn

This is a fantastic all-around waterproof shell jacket. Open up the chest and side zippers to give ventilation throughout. Raining when you've got a helmet on? Pop that hood up and it'll go right over it!
Cyclone Rescue Pants

A rugged set of waterproof/windproof pants with side ventilation to keep your legs from overheating. These come equipped with RECCO reflectors for that added safety when you're out on your adventures.
Adapt Long Sleeve Tee

A really comfortable long-sleeve t-shirt. It's so soft it's like a little hug against your skin. I like to wear it as a base layer on those chilly days.

  • If you want to introduce Leo to camping along other children, many Finnish scout groups (partiolippukunta) have a family scout group (perhepartio). There you gan go together with a child under the age of 7 years. The ones I have heard of don't gather weekly, so it's an easy way to start. Also the tactical food pack is just that, the bag is made so that you can pour hot water in it and the close the zip to let the food "cook". No dishes to wash.

    • And about the sleeping bag. If you go to an outdoor store to get a sleeping bag, talk to an employee, they will let you try it so you know you fit in it.

    • Get a proper one with down inside and not just air, they've got much better insulation against cold too. One of those and a good winter sleeping bag worked wonders even in a cave dug in a big pile of snow, one of the best sleeps I've ever had! Maybe something to add onto your list of crazy Finnish things to try if you get a nice snowy winter 😁

    • @@davecad If you're a side sleeper, get a thick one so you avoid sore sides. Btw, seems like you bought the tent and the sleeping bag from the company I work for. I recognized those models instantly. We've got a good selection of sleeping mats. I'd recommend Nemo first, then Exped. Nemo offers life time limited guarantee for theirs. Nemo Quasar (long wide model for you) is a really comfy one.

  • 🤔if you have 2 sleeping bags, try zipping them together to see if that helps give you luxurious roominess without losing the pouch-ness of a sleeping bag. I always used sleeping bags like a duvet, too claustrofobic zipped in... even though I was and am a small short person😆 Legs are alright to be in the pouch, hands NO WAY. Open edges tucked under me just like I do with a duvet for maximum mental AND physical comfort👌👍 Thin "telttapatja" (makuualusta, retkipatja) is enough padding from the ground without the sleeping bag since I'm small, they do make thicker ones and inflatable ones, too.

  • What kind of mattress and pillow you have? If you are more of a side sleeper you might enjoy a sleeping quilt more but those are harder to find. Pillow makes a big difference, I use just a hiking pillow case stuffed with soft stuff like clothes. You can stabilize the pillow by keeping it inside your sleeping bag.

  • If you would like to go camping more and to do it with Leo in the future ( and get your back more accustomed to hard surface of mother earth) I highly recommend to contact your local scout troop and go to their next day trip or overnight trip. The age limit is 7 years, BUT many times there are younger children present with their parents so that won't stop you. Maybe it could make a good video too, British scouting is COMPLETELY DIFFERENT from Finnish one ;)

  • Totes amazeballz ;) I didn't realize that in UK things, like fishing, are so restricted. In Finland we have this thing called "Jokamiehen oikeus" (Every-mans-right), which means that we are allowed to roam around freely in nature, pick berries and mushrooms - even in private lands - (provided that one does not enter in anyone's backyard or garden or too close to private houses in general), camp, light a campfire (unless there's a dry season and a forest fire warning in force) - and of course, fish in public lakes, rivers and ponds - assuming one has paid his/hers nominal fishing fee (unless stated otherwise, that's to say there are certain restrictions, for example it's not allowed to fish by a river dam at the time of the year when salmons are coming back to breed).
