Then about 12 years later decided they wanted another kid, but being Beijing residences and with a son as a first child there was no chance of ever having another one in China at that time. Luckily my dad was working in the UK for a chemical company and they moved here. Then I was born. I wouldn’t exist if my parents hadn’t made the decision to move for me ❤️

To have such a gender imbalance with over 30 million men than women, is beyond astronomical. Yet, the culture is still complaining because these poor, poor men can't find a wife to do their cleaning. • I don’t think that’s how it happened tho. It’s mostly that in every family with a girl, she’s the only child, and the parents use all their income to support her financially. She doesn’t need to be an uneducated housewife when she could be more. University costs are low and test scores are gender neutral. And her family (who didn’t kill her) are hoping for financial support when they get old. When they say “too many girls have degrees” they just mean everyone has a degree nowadays and anyone with even an ounce of self respect wouldn’t go out with his son.

    • @Baby cat The childfree by choice (cbc) has already started gaining the momentum in India. Apart from that, unemplyoment, abysmal poverty, hunger, dearth of resources have already impacted marriages negatively and once the automation is in full swing, most of those labours will no longer be required and they have also begun embracing the future which is why mostly they are now restricting themselves to 1 or 2 kids only. Many of them have even decided to stay single as well especially after bearing the unforgettable brunt of the pandemic. In 2019, pollution alone has killed 1.67 million people in the northern parts of India which has now augmented to 2.5 million per year. Nearly 4 million individuals have resigned from their jobs in the USA which is now prominently known as "the great resignation", "lying flat" in China, early retirement at 34 in Italy etc are some of the best examples to be optimistic with that more and more people are realizing across the world that it is better to live a single and childfree life. So, within a decade from now, a huge chunk of population will be eliminated directly or indirectly very soon.✌

    • I feel bad for the sons who have no chance at getting married. It’s not exactly their fault for being born a male and living in a country where there’s significantly less females. But these Chinese parents need to realize if they pick and choose the gender of their child then there will be problems. I understand sons are better for poorer families since they’re more “profitable” (a horrible way to put it, I know) due to the country’s culture but they need to accept it when their baby is born a girl. This way the country can get out of this terrible situation. Anyways the women kinda do get to be a little picky when it comes to marrying someone. Why would she settle for someone that has nothing going for him (whether it be looks, personality, job, etc), when there’s a bunch of better people she can marry? If the roles were reversed there would be men that were picky about the person they marry. They too would want a woman with a nice personality, looks and a good job. No one should just settle for someone when getting married.
