    • Yes, people need to stop thinking that just because software is open source and doesn't cost the price of a house, that makes it bad. Blender is still very studio grade.

      @fragmister@fragmister8 ай бұрын
    • @@fragmister Funny, the reason movies switch to VFX is because of the *cost* and safety concerns. A specific scene in The Shining (1980) cost $50k on the cheap, but realistically, $100k incase of unforeseen costs. If it's CG it would cost $14~20K. You can skim the video "CGI vs Real - Can you tell the difference" to know more. "Industry" standard subscriptions ain't getting cheaper, infact it's the exact opposite. As time goes on, the subscriptions would just keep piling up on the price, while Blender historically, just keeps getting better.

Games like Sifu and Stray have flat paintered textures which gives it a semi 2D feel. Other examples are first Life is Strange, Bayonetta Origins, Valkyrie Chronicles series, Guilty Gear Strive, Valorant, the upcoming Prince of Persia, and Hi-Fi Rush. • I saw somewhere that this portraits very well a developer/artist interaction in the Blender community, and it makes A LOT OF SENSE. While the developers are wanting to make sure that the features [0:54] are working perfectly fine until we're ready to use in a serious/big production -- or flying in this case [1:25] --, most of us, artists, want to take charge and dig into all the tools we see [0:45], even if they are not optimized or fixed, which causes many crashes, just like the space shuttle did [2:44]. Fortunately, in the community we are not piloting a literal space shuttle, so we are allowed to crash it as many times as we want, so we can acknowledge the developers what's wrong and what can be fixed.

    • @@anima_015I disagree solely because by context, the movies they seem to be talking about are spiderverse & the new puss in boots which are beautifully made films and deserve all the praise. Animation is a medium that's so versatile and shitting on genuinely well made films instead of lazy cash grab schlock is ridiculous. Into/Across rhe spiderverse, the lego movie, puss in boots: the last wish and Mitchells vs the machines are such well loved movies for A REASON.

    • @@hoxiipoxii56 ohh i honestly read it as them hating on movies that clearly had little to no artistic love put into them, such as Wish. I LOVED all the movies you just named and I literally cannot imagine a single bad thing about any of them, so I do retract my statment under that context. Thank you for telling me!

    • @@anima_015 No problem! I could tell due to the fps comment, as the fps dropped significantly during action scenes (I studied these movies a lot as an artist myself!) Really sucks that op thinks this... Kinda hurts since they're from the more competent movies in the industry right now
