He has everything but his temperament probably isn't the best. On his day he can beat anyone. He really should be a top 16 player on his ability. Think he might be a dark horse for this tournament.

@@Ian-xg8bpbecause he doesnt get into it as much in the smaller tournaments and only really tries hard for the big ones. He would rather go on the piss than play in say the welsh open.
@HighMiler330d Most of Stephens titles have been so called smaller tournaments, including the welsh open, as for being on the sauce, Stephen is married with 3 kids so i doubt it.
I love Stephen Maguire he's such a nice fella always enjoy watchiing him, you always know how he's feeling I hoope he does well so glad he beat Murphy 💓.

I watched the highlights from that match and he was on fire.
Real nice chap, always liked watching Maguire, under achieved to me, I know its a tough game, lots of paramaters that dictate etc, love to see him go all the way,
Him and Matthew Steven’s both underachieved for me.

On fire Maguire, if he plays his best game he's a match for anyone. He certainly won't be intimidated by any of the other players. He's a powerful player when he gets going and can blow you off the table. Good wins v Carter/Murphy hopefully he can keep it up.

I've never agreed with players on commentary duties whilst still in the tournament (ok once out). Murphy has had in the main a pretty poor record since 2015 losing in either the 1st or 2nd round in all but one year. Either he's doing the commentary because he feels can't compete to the latter stages and is one way of keeping involved knowing the likelihood he be out or doing the commentary is affecting his results not concentrating fully and solely on the playing, it's not working anyway combining. Anyhow whichever back to commentating regardless !!

Don't know why Murphy gets a hard time for this. Mark Allen and Kyren Wilson were also commentating while still being involved in the tournament and nobody says a word.
