  • Surely it's time Steve Davis was knighted. An outstanding player and snooker could not have a better ambassador. He was the king of snooker in the glory years, I hope he gets knighted and the sooner the better.

Ronnie is the greatest for me,but personality wise i feel Davis and Hendry's more level headed composure made them practice harder and represent the sport with a higher level of decorum than Ronnie who i find a bit wayward. Hendry is more easy-going since his retirement i feel,so i've warmed to him more in his later years.

    • There will always be the debate about whether Hendry or O'Sullivan is the greatest. It depends on people's view of what makes someone the best. Hendry dominated in the 90s, winning 7 World titles in a short space of time. You could argue that Ronnie is better, as he's been near his top form for 25 years, also winning 7 titles during that period. People will have their own views about whether winning so much in a short time is better than someone who takes 20 years to achieve the same. It's good that they both respect each other now.

    • @@kwilson5832 It's all about opinions, but for me it has to be Ronnie. Hendry was dominant in the 90s but it was mainly White who was his main rival back then and Parrott to a lesser extent. Davis was past his best although he was still a quality player in the early 90s. Ronnie has won the Worlds in 3 different decades although personally I don't think he'll win it again to get to no 8.

  • Steve was magnificent, Stephen though moved the game forward by opening the bunch up when potting reds - potting one then bouncing off the bunch to still be on the black. Previously the bunch was opened when potting the colour, leaving much more to chance. Stephen also potted his way out of trouble when apparently in a safe position time and time again.
