Another thing I may have forgot to mention. I had to re-open it. It did the same thing again. Upon looking at it closer, I think the rod (that the spring is mounted on) may have slid on direction or the other. That might have been why the spring popped it out to begin with. I cut and added some shrink tubing to each side of the rod so that it would not be able to slide in either direction. It has not popped out since. Good luck. 👍🏼

@@JasonPurdyNH I got it back together and working for now but the root cause of mine failing was the plastic stud near the latch broke so the bottom side separated a little and the way that thing is designed it makes the latch assembly loose spring tension when that happens. I went ahead and drilled a new hole for the spring because that did break but not until I was messing with it. When it breaks again I will try some jb weld on the broken stud.

Nice. I hope it works out OK for you. When I was putting it back together, I realized then it was like the spring bent opposite of initia thought. Long story short, it may have just slipped inside the armrest. I definitely had to take it apart regardless to put it back together correctly. I found a long screwdriver helpful to hold this ring bring in place as I was squeezing the pieces back together. I hope it makes sense when you take a look inside. Good luck.

2013 SEL… mine just sits on top. Literally broke off years ago, spring has snapped shut.

Mind keep lifting up when I hit bumps. I tried to wedge something to hold the latch down. It kind of worked, until the thing fell out.
