@@M.One.XJ6 You don't pay a good pilot to fly a commercial airplane (which for the most part can probably fly themselves nowadays), you pay them to know how to minimize losses if shit ever goes wrong, and to say "thanks to the heroic actions of Capt. So and So, your loved ones survived with minor bumps and scrapes so don't sue us."
Great story. My dad was with Japan Airlines in the 80s and 90s, out of Chicago and he took my entire Elementary school class to Ohare Airport around 1991/92/93 time frame. He got us an airport tour, onboard tour of a JAL 747-400 (Jumbo Jet) that taxied away from the gate, but didn't actually take off. We all ate a real 1st class style lunch (which was world class fare at that time) and everyone got a gift bag upon disembarking the aircraft. My dad worked so hard to make that so special for every kid (and the teachers too). My dad is an Amazing Salesman, extremely gifted, however his real gifts are seen in the way that he loves his family; such a hero to me!
You are lucky to have such a good dad.
Sounds like a top guy, nice one Dad 🤘
Cool, I always wanted to be on a 747, you have a very nice dad
That's ironic, I did the Exact kind of thing for my kids I could make a list of the amazing adventures I put together for them and their classmates all throughout their life. Not once but many many incredible events. 1 included having the entire school every class of every grade designed their own part of a quilt that included each student fingerprint. We had each square that included each classes fingerprint made into a quilt that we gave to my treasure for the PTA( I was pres.) her brother was the pilot of the space shuttle. We got to go on a field trip to KSC on a V.II.P tour. The quilt went with her brother n he took it w him on the space shuttle. After the mission he brought it back to our school we did a big presentation with him. Each kid got a replica coin of the mission( we had made a copy from the real mission coin) he presented the coins n the quilt to the school n the kids which was framed n still hangs at that school. I say all that to say my kids dont even speak to me or care if I'm alive. That was just 1 of the kinda things I did with my kids when they were growing up. So not everyone appreciates their parents n the things they did for them Their are so many parents that are estranged from their grown children n they Dont even know why their own children dont talk to them. Crazy times we live in today, what was once valued is no longer sadly 😢.
Nice story man that was a cool one for your dad.

In bed by 8:30 pm, NO alcohol, etc. At the time I thought he was so boring, well, he was... as I was kinda the opposite of those things & never really thought about how serious his job really was. He sure did tho... he did not take it lightly... and if you were flying with him you were in very good hands & your safety was his only concern. To all wondering why the controls need so much input: it's due to the stability of a passenger aircraft (look up control theory and transfer functions) more stability comes at the expense of control sensitivity. If the system was relatively unstable (or near unstable, I.e. Poles of its transfer function near the imaginary axis), it's flight dynamics would be closer to that of a fighter jet. And for a passenger aircraft, maneuverability isn't really a priority. That's why you see the pilots making so many inputs at low speed.
No one asked, or was wondering, Karen!
I have also learned the art of copypasta from Wikipedia when no one asked me a question and i want to show my superior intellect in the comments of a KZhead short. What you really wanted to say was, "GROUND EFFECT". That large wing surface 40 feet off the ground has a hard time shedding lift, because air pressure is reduced, meaning control surfaces have less effect when the wing is "floating" as opposed to "flying", requiring exaggerated inputs to achieve similar response from the wing. All aircraft suffer from this when they are close to a surface like the ground or calm sea. Some were manufactured to take advantage of this particular effect, flying low above water at high speed, look up ekranoplan or caspian sea monster. But thats just me being a smartass piece of shit, the nonsense i stole from wikipedia is below. Lols A wing generates lift by deflecting the oncoming airmass (relative wind) downward.[8] The deflected or "turned" flow of air creates a resultant force on the wing in the opposite direction (Newton's 3rd law). The resultant force is identified as lift. Flying close to a surface increases air pressure on the lower wing surface, nicknamed the "ram" or "cushion" effect, and thereby improves the aircraft lift-to-drag ratio. The lower/nearer the wing is with regards to the ground, the more pronounced the ground effect becomes. While in the ground effect, the wing requires a lower angle of attack to produce the same amount of lift. In wind tunnel tests in which the angle of attack and airspeed remain constant, an increase in the lift coefficient ensues,[9] which accounts for the "floating" effect.

My son wants to be a pilot when he grows up. He would love to see this video!
Man, you know there's a shart on edge every time a pilot lands one these jumbo jets
Looks like driving an old truck with super loose steering linkage and suspension
that's what I thought too...
@@jacklouca2054 Ditto.
Fuck yeah
I’m triggered! That sounds like my truck!😳
Same thing, lol
I've always been fascinated about how planes land and take off and what it's like from the cockpit...i love watching these type videos.
Watch air disasters! And you will wonder who was in the cockpit recording; soo against regulations !
Auto pilot! Hahah
@@mickyb1791 lol u dont takeoff and land with auto pilot
Not only that, but geez how expensive is it to become a pilot in first place
I'm just happy they aren't A.I. flying that plane
Thank you for making the skies safe
And there's 300 people behind that pilot that are clueless to skill, attention to detail, common sense and nerves of steel like it ain't no thing. All skilled drivers have my props. I can't even drive a golf cart. I always thank the pilots as I exist and say "Thanks Cap" 👍🙏
Me too. If the landing was particularly smooth I as always let them know how much I appreciate it@
It’s not that difficult. My business partner has a small single engine plane. I fly it all the time once we take off.
Agree 100 %. Well said
@@jrod264winmag easy to fly once in air. Take off and landing require skill. Big difference between small private plane and big airliner.
@@tomhirstein2524 No, The second time we went up in the air he asked me if I wanted to land it it seems pretty easy. My next time up in the air I probably will land it
Pilots deserve a lot more recognition for what they do. This is amazing
hii
Not really, they are glorified bus drivers.
@@user-zy9yg2eu5t you could say that put flying a plane is a lot more complicated than driving a bus 😩 and you’re responsible for a lot more people
hiii
@@user-zy9yg2eu5t why aren't they paid like bus drivers then? It needs a lot of hard work, practice and brains to learn to fly a goddamn plane.
I flew in the jump seat of a 727 from Majorca to LGW in the 80s. It was a fantastic experience.
To you all amazing pilots god bless you always. Your doing an excellent job respect to you all the way 🤲🙏❤️❤️👌
I always wanted to see the inside of a cockpit. Didn't realize how small they are. And watching The Landing was really extraordinary how they can control such a big plane. I love watching planes I think they're amazing. back in the day when you could walk around an airport without any problem watch planes take off amazing.
It's a smaller plane, maybe. DC-9 or smaller
The plane looks pretty small
During my first flight as a kid I asked the stewardess to have a look in the cockpit and she took me up there. I sat in the jump seat and chilled for a while. It was 1994.
@@vwsyncro that's nice being a little kid's you can get away with back then. I tried asking in 1980 and I was 14 and they said nobody's allowed.
You said cock.........he he.
I've never seen someone look more like a pilot than the captain landing the plane. Deserves all the respect possible!! Continue being safe!!
I don't know why, but seeing the landing of aircraft from the cockpit always thrills me. Of course, taking off as well. Awesome.
Gonna download this video and watch it over again. It’s my dream to be able to land like this one day!
So much respect for pilots. Just incredible.
Bus driver has more responsibilities than a "pilot" sitting in a chair with autopilot
@@jonjhon8491the bus driver doesnt program the autopilot with bunch of math and physics and doesnt control the autopilot all the flight the bus driver cant carry 140-800 passenger. Respect the Pilots
@@mohammedalshaikh166 No
so dont compare person who carries 30 people only steering the vehicle with someone who carries 140-800 people using math, strength and controlling 30+ ton plane with 1 hand@@jonjhon8491
@@jonjhon8491Huh, seems like people really don’t know what autopilot does xDDD
I do appreciate when pilots don't slam your spine to the ground.
😅🤣😂😅🤣😂
Had a shitty landing during a real shitty storm. Don’t blame the pilot though. I came out of the 737 2 inches shorter than when I took off.
Do you?
@@YukariAkiyama lol
From my experience- It’s almost as though you are there in real time. Quality video.
I was in an airport cafe last year before a flight and saw my two pilots there, could tell by the flight number on their iPad they were using to plan. In that instance they just looked like two good friends having a coffee and a chat, mad respect.
A lot's changed and a short amount of time. When I first started flying, all the planning was done in a briefing room using a landline telephone call for weather, NOTAMs, and filing your flight plan. And everything was done on paper. That was only 20 years ago.
@@SP-nt4sr that still happens today, I suppose I should have mentioned they were Aussie Qantas pilots so that adds to the friendship part. Major flights (international) are still planned in a briefing room I’d think.
Amazing how the Co-pilot is moving the steering wheel just with his mind
Ikr its amazing, never seen something like that before!
It's actually connected together 😃 so when the pilot has a emergency he dise not have to move his ass 😀😁
@@priyanarayanan9670 I know lol
@@priyanarayanan9670 yes....this is called sarcasm..... We all know this lol
True
Ryanair: you're hired your landing is best!
The pilots who landed JetBlue 1083 in Orlando today did a stellar job dealing with unbelievable wind shear and unreal turbulence from the 10,000 foot level on down there were challenged and came up aces. Jet Blue is awesome
Sure if you like low budget airlines.
SO neat being able to see how this is done. Love it.
Dont try it at home though! And only half book the flight in case something goes wrong. 😮
As long as the plane lands safely, its the best landing.
Notice everything higher up the speed looks very slow but as soon the plane gets closer to the ground, you then realise just how fast the plane is traveling.
Smoothest B737 landing i've ever seen
