We had a Maine Coon mix. Out of the dozens of cats we raised lovingly over decades, I can safely say he was the sweetest, most sympathetic animal I've known. Barely vocalized, very mild and super affectionate. He comforted us in hard times, and would come running if he heard either of us crying/being emotional. Wonderful cat, best cat. Gentle giant indeed.
Can Maine Coons hiss? An angry Maine Coon cat would be horrifying..

So whenever they inevitably fall off of whatever piece of furniture they've ran at full speed without judging distance at all like every other cat I've owned, and flail to the ground with all my surviving knick knacks, they look SOOOOO humiliated! I always try not to laugh and tell them how handsome and distinguished they are. So that their self esteem can remain partially intact.

Love the commentary. "He makes his protests known". I have two very similar to him that are even both grey and they are the dogs of the cat world. They are so incredibly loyal and follow you room to room, but they have very unique personalities. They do actually play in water unlike many other cats. Commentary was spot on.
Yup, all of my Coons played in the sink or tub (or even shower) with the water on.
I have a 23lb Maine. I bathe her myself monthly (as needed), but most importantly she is combed and brushed daily. She is never matted. Since this has been her routine since 9 weeks old (she now is 16 years old), her coat is spectacular, her purrsonality remains regal and pampered.

Our cats are always like that lol.
@كات قيرل well yea, but it is amusing that when brushing them they seem offended as if they think we're saying they don't do a good enough job
@كات قيرل it’s actually to remove scents, as well as grooming. The cat probably felt he smelled wrong (considering he just had a bath with soap) so he is trying to remove the smell as well as the humans scent from himself. All cats will do this. My cat loves me, but if he feels I’ve put my scent on him, he will lick himself clean.
To be honest all long haired cats should be groomed with all that equipment from when they are really young to get them used to it.

I own a half Maine Coon... as for the "as close to a dog as you can get in cat form" thats terrifyingly true... he is more of a dog than my Husky lab mix is. he is 20lbs (not overweight) and refuses to play at all ever unless I throw a tiny ball he can go retrieve for me... ... seriously. He is the most cuddlie cat I have ever owned, seen, or even heard of, as if he could he would sit in my lap and never, ever, leave... he cuddles with me all night usually near my feet (a dangerous place in my case) but sometimes he takes the easy route and comes up and cuddles in my armpit while my arm is extended holding my head at the perfect level... this usually wakes me up at some point as I choke on that signature long coat you see here... He is the single best cat I have ever owned, he is 9 and I am glad cats are long lived because it gives me time to figure out what I will do when he goes as I do not know if I have ever been so emotionally attached and entangled with anyone in my entire life (including my parents and siblings yes.)
Lost my 17 year old MC before Christmas. Heartbreaking but guess what have an 8 month old joined me. They are exceptional.
My elderly Maine Coon cat has a rug on the kitchen floor. He sits there daily in expectation of being combed. It is part of the daily ritual after breakfast. He has always had too much fur to take care of it himself, and now, that he is close to 15, I think he relies on me for most of his grooming. As the groomer said, they do mat under the arms and on the belly and this can happen pretty quickly. His brother, who is no longer with us, had belly fur that I can only compare to sheep wool with a laye of longer strands of silky fur over top. It was really odd and matted super easily. He was the most gorgeous cat I had ever seen and he may have been stolen.

then you would probably fall off your chair seeing my cat at the groomer (i help my groomer when I go, plus it's fun talking to her so that's why i know fully how my cat acts) the only thing she does is meowing a bit and trying to escape but very slowly she never hisses, bites or claws if she does claw you, it's by accident and most likely because she was trying to grab you to get out of the bath
My cats would go nuts and draw blood. I wouldn’t do that to the groomer or my cats. Tongue baths are fine.
“Because cats are notorious for trying to permanently disfigure you.” So many gems given to us by this lady.
Except its not true if you raised your cat right. Cats claws should not be cut, only a groomer that profits from it or an irresponsible owner that does it would say this.
genuinely asking (no criticism) but, as my cat was sick one summer, and couldn't scratch his favorite tree, his claws grew quite long. so, solution; i bought clippers, somewhat decent, ofcourse not as big as the ones in the video. now; to the question; everywghere I looked there was advice that you should keep the blades horizontal - "perpendicular as it where to the soles of the paws. were they wrong? here i see it being done vertical.
@@vivaangoswami9839 don't lie. I am clearly talking about trimming with cutters.
@@vivaangoswami9839 this is a cat first of all and their claws are immensely different to a dogs. You keep trusting the people that get paid to do it. They don't exactly get training or qualifications on biology to have a clue what damage they cause
@@junejuniejune stop with the strawman you disingenuous pos. I am ONLY talking about trimming/cutting claws. Stop bringing up declawing, its not whats being discussed. Trimming is not 'maintenance' for a cat, if you had any idea about a cats anatomy you would know that their claws do not grow outwardly from the tip so even if they weren't allowed enough exercise their claws wouldn't overgrow like some animals. A cats claws split down the centre and old layers break off from each side. The only reason people trim cats claws is for the owners sake and isnt necessary. Cats look after their own claws by simply climbing and scratching on trees and self grooming. No organisation setup for the welfare of animals would recommend trimming, anyone can quote misinformation from unreliable sources like you have.

The cone of shame! We had to do this to take care of an abscess on one of our meezers. Of course, it was sore, so any time we had to touch it, he got very bitey. We learned fast that he couldn't actually bite us if he was wearing the cone. So we put it on, shaved the base of his tail (where the abscess was, so we could actually see it through all the fluff) and did what we needed to do. He recovered quickly and is fine now.
Jackson looks like a million bucks! I love that you're so patient with them. 💖💖💖
For anyone curious, cutting a cat's nails is not only safe, for indoor cars it can be a necessity. Their nails can grow into their paw pads, and older cats are not good at removing the dead parts of their nails, which can lead to infection. Declawing, on the other hand, is a permanently disfiguring procedure where the first joint of each digit of the paw is completely removed. It's the equivalent of having each of your fingers cut off beyond the first knuckle. Declawing can lead to early onset arthritis in cats and make them more aggressive because their main defense tactic has been taken away. Please cut your cat's nails, but don't declaw!
Another thing on why clipping nails is necessary. With the way the nails grow if the cats don't actively scratch to wear them down and you don't trim them, they can snag and rip off very painfully. But if you are new to trimming research how to do it properly so you don't hurt them by cutting too much and making them bleed! Also totally 2nd that about NOT declawing your cat! My family did it to all our cats while I was growing up because they didn't know better and the internet wasn't really prevalent. When we got it done to our black male, he had an absolutely horrible time healing and has never had confidence the same way again. We took his main means of defense away from him and he felt vulnerable ever sense.
Noted. If I ever have an indoor car I will cut my cat's nails.
@@h.s.6269 Yes, absolutely! Learn where the quick is before you start!
I’m no cat owner, but is it true that some owners cut too much of their cat’s claws? I’ve heard of some owners cutting too deep into their cat’s claws, which could basically be the equivalent as cutting off a big chunk of a human’s nail bed?
@@s_spiritstar yes, that is correct. There's a nerve and blood rich structure called the "quick" in both dog and cat's nails. If you cut that, it will bleed and hurt. However, in cats especially, it's very easy to see if you look at the nail from the side. It looks like a pink copy of the shape of their nail. As long as you don't cut that, you're good.

"He's giving me the ultimate death stare and is most certainly plotting my demise" -- That's the most "cat like" thing I'ever heard 😹
Jaxon: "Heh, heh. Next time, I attack _before_ she trims my claws. First strike!" 😾😼😾
I love how the owner comes in and is like “how did our monster do?”😂😂😂😂
She knows how he is! LOL!! She was also shocked when the groomer told her that she was able to wash him, which leads me to believe that the owner attempted to bathe him a few times and it did NOT go well.
😈
Is it strange to be surprised how thin everyone was?
I had a Maine Coon mix. He had quite the personality and was such a love bug. One of his most notable quirks was that he loved the water. He would sleep in the bathroom sink and if you turned the water on he would only move a little so it wasn't spraying directly on him. If we wanted him out of the sink we had to manually evict him.
haha, "he looks defeated and royally pissed off" --your comments are pure gold!
I am not afraid to admit it: I am 100% obsessed with this channel.
Do not be afraid embrace the obsession.
I don't even have a pet lol. I hope she continues to put out this context.
Agreed
Same!!!
Me too!
I love the way he starts grooming himself after being dried. I can clearly hear him thinking "stupid woman is doing this all wrong. Do I have to demonstrate everything?". Lol
I had all of this hair EXACTLY where I wanted it, and you messed it up!
Please stop you’re not the cat and these comments are cringe

I love how you truly explain how they act. I own Barbara's Gentle Grooming in Espanola, New Mexico. I have been Grooming for 16 yrs. I have seen so much. Thanks Barb
Good to see people taking proper care of there animals
“And he is most certainly plotting my demise” yeah that checks out.
I love his grooming himself at the end-- clearly she didn't do it exactly right and he has to fix it.
Lol 😂
Hoomins can't do anything right.
@@sealand000 right?!
That is what cats do smartass. Cats groom themselves, they do not want to be groomed and they don't need to be "groomed".
@@marcrchz they were joking and making fun of the grooming amd cats grooming itself dmbass
I love your channel (especially the funny sentences that you say during grooming cats 😀)!
Satellite ears.😻 Their ears swivel around, and it always makes me smile.
People are really so out of touch that they think TRIMMING a cat's nails is like declawing them? Jeez. Also, I still can't get over how enormous Maine Coons are.
Not on this channel but others I have seen people accusing the groomer of shaving a husky... When using a high velocity dryer to blow out dead undercoat. Some people are just that foolish.
No need to use the racial slur..
@@partians that's the cat breed?
you have got to be trolling.
@@partians I might be a retarded nigga but whats a racial slur?
Your narration makes me LOL every single time! It’s clear how much you adore animals 💖
I will say he is much better getting his nails cut than my 4 cats. Great job! 😊🙏🏼❤️🐈⬛
2:55 Jaxon: "lady you don't know what you're doing, here's how a real cat groomer works" Jaxon: lick lick lick
"he looks defeated and royally pissed off" Cat: *slow blink*
Cats have little facial expression in general, but their eyes tell a different story altogether
The Office theme song kicks in.
Some slow blinks are trusting ones, and others are pissed off slow blinks
"so I put his royal highness in the cone of shame"
My Maine would let me know when a nail trim was due, he loved taking tubbies and was ok with a hair dryer. All 36 lbs of him. Never bit me, scratched me....best ca-dog ever!!!
I'm shocked that he did not sing you the song of his people during his bath. Maine Coon's are normally very chatty and mine is very much a drama queen about being bathed.
I know my Norwegian Forest Cat does that every time I groom her or bathe her. It’s meow yowl yowl marrroooowwww!!! Her meowjesty doesn’t appreciate it at all
Mine just cries about everything like being pet anywhere that isn’t the head or having water in the blue bowl instead of the metal bowl
@@aylazelanagrebiel3210 That's what mine does. Like I'm killing her and like she will not poke her head around the shower curtain if I don't lock her out of the bathroom while I shower.
How much was ur cat
@@jorgequinonez2649 She's a rescue.
He’s only a year old but holy is he a big boy! And he’s not even full grown yet! God, I love Mainecoons
Yea my cat is also 1 year old and holy shes bigger then me when i was 4 yo (also speedwagon~)
I have a kitten one, he’s about 16 lbs and 38 inches long. Beautiful child.
They don't stop growing until around five. So he's going to be huge when he matures.
Yep and for main coons it can take up to 5 years for them to grow into there body
Apex Typhodon. I have a rag doll. He is bigger than that Maine Coon. I’m surprised. With blue eyes. Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺🇦🇺
I loved my part-MC boy, so sweet, he protected me like a dog. He was a rescue, aged about 2, and lived to about 17-18. His worst habit, trying to kill himself by eating plastic bags, I had to be very careful with bags/plastic.
My groomer says my two Himalayan males are the most docile and gentle cats of all her customers. I've always been gentle, spoken softly, and never fought with them.
Cat: bites Groomer: * cone of shame* Cat: wait that’s illegal
She is cutting the cat's nails incorrectly and she actually thinks it's right
"If you notice, he is pulling his ears back, which he is an angry cat. I don't care. I have a job to do." 🤣🤣
😅😅😅
Love your commentary while grooming cats, hilarious!
Oh my, you had me laughing at the 'cone of shame'. I had to get up and get that fit of laughter out of the way to finish the vid.. Thank you for that. Liked and subbed.
We think our cat is part Maine coon, at 4.5yrs & 21 lbs. his videos,,,,, MOST hugged cat in the world,,, show his calm big personality. His videos show how he handles a 3yr old little girl. His 1st time swimming was a motorhome camping trip at the Colorado river. I dipped his back legs then his front legs. then held him by his belly as I dipped him all the way in the water. Picked him back up gave him some Huggs, put him back in and let go, he let out 2 DRAMMA meows, wife has it on video, then when he could touch ground, he let me throw water on him to wet all of him. Let me know if U think he is Maine..

Only people who own cats will understand how well he did... Only one of our 4 cats would allow to be handled like that...
Right...omg the dryer...I'm fairly certain my cats would literally kill me for making them do this.
Yes yes, you're very special.
I agree, that was pretty mild for all that combing and bathing and clipping with a stranger in a different location!
Mine are extremely calm and gentle, and they would absolutely destroy me if I tried any of this. Well, I can brush them all day long. That’s all. Rest of this stuff??? Hellz no
If anyone (myself included) were to try to clip my cat's nails or use a hair dryer on her, she would unleash the Death of a Thousand Cuts. Oddly enough, she loves warm showers and then getting wrapped up in a nice bath towel.
When a cat says, "Stop messing with my groin," get out the cone or lose a thumb.
I just love your commentary during your videos. You are so funny!
"pretty tolerant" is a huge understatement.
No, some cats actually go mental at the groomers, like, if you saw that thing in the street, you'd shoot at it.
@@markolitvic6981 thats what they are saying. Theyre saying that he is being very very tolerant for a cat
@@markolitvic6981 UNDERstatement, not overstatement.
Yeah I agree, I've never seen a cat so calm while being groomed.
As someone who's had to wash a number of our own cats over the years, I felt that "pretty tolerant" was a very understated remark, lol. I've had some struggles trying to clean cats.
“This is Jackson Sonic. He is an absolute unit.” Enough said.
I dont know why but i read this in her voice.
“This is Jackson Sonic. He is one hell of a cat”

What a beautiful Maine Coon! I am a lover of these cats!!
I loved the cone of shame cut. His little face looked like “crap, I messed up”
I love how when he starts hissing she just pushes the cone away 😂 His face just says "well shit" and it's amazing
yeah, he expected total terror, didn't get it.
My current cat would have eaten her face, even with a cone in place! Wow - she did well!
Right 😅
My Coon hisses at our Vet too, but I know damn well he wouldn't do shit 😂
I love watching the miserable creatures be humiliated. Cats are such vile things.
That’s one chill cat! I get those swipes even when I’m not grooming a cat 😄
