11 Turbo Props You Can Buy In Place Of A Jet

While turboprops may not be able to fly as far or as fast as most private jets, the right turboprop can be a great fit for missions with shorter legs. The efficiency of these turboprop engines coupled with the cost savings of single-pilot operations means these aircraft can get the job done at a relatively low cost.

  • I enjoyed the video nevertheless I think there's room for improvement. I wish you were more consistent when comparing the aircraft. If you're going to give speed on one, you should give speed on all. Likewise, range, climb rate etc.

  • The E1000 is hands down the most fun I have ever had flying! No joke 3,000 FPM climb! My only quam is the thing is so slick and the Vle being pretty low, I feel like speed brakes would be a welcome addition.

    • The C208 has a really good performance. It works well on short fields, lifts a good load, is fuel efficient, is easy to maintain etc. Performance is about achieving your goals with minimum input.

  • Still waiting for a Caravan sized (or even larger) - Skymaster-style, twin boom tailed, dual turboprop, centerline thrust, utility craft with an option for amphibious floats. (Imagine what a bush plane that would make) …Such a craft could be certified for twin-engine operation during takeoff and for over-water passenger hauling, or single engine economy cruise or for increased range requirements, all without any asymmetric thrust concerns inherent in non-centerline-thrust designs. I would like to see innovations explored like: what is the upper limit of tire size in an amphibious float? And also the concept of an upward-hinging rear engine that completely opened the full dimensions of the fuselage and used a telescoping gantry-style crane that would extend outward from the rear cargo opening so that oversized items or palletized cargo could be quickly picked up and brought inside without the use of forklifts etc. or being broken down from a palletized state. Such could also be used as handicap access or in air-ambulance service, whether loading a single gurney, or a self- powered, pre-provisioned, prefabricated, custom-fit emergency medical “module” outfitted with any specialized equipment needed. If such a module could be carried on an an ambulance chassis, the patient and an attendant could possibly be transported from scene to ER, or from hospital to hospital without any intervening movement or exposure, even maintaining full quarantine protocol from end-to-end, if equipped with self-contained water and air supply or filtration, waste management, and climate control.

  • Conquest II is a beast. The cruise speed is incorrect. The video says 300 mph. I routinely seen 310-315 KNOTS TAS in cruise flight in the high 20s. That is ~360 mph. Much faster than a King Air 200

  • This video was obviously setup for clicks/views and was quickly put together with outdated information. If you use this video as a guide for pricing, you'll need to whip out over $1m more in some examples vs the prices shown here. I've flown a few of these examples and comparisons are definitely needed - from real experience, not captured sales brochures.
