Top 10 Turboprop Aircraft with Jet-Like Speeds but Cheaper Operating Costs
In the world where each minute matters, business jets are pushing out slower turboprop planes which are limited in speed by the annoying laws of physics.
However, these good ol-propeller aircraft truly shine in terms of fuel efficiency and lower operating costs, allowing poorer executives to save up some cash and buy yet another Rolls Royce. In this episode, we will be showing a buying guide for all the dreamers and billionaires, demonstrating the newest and best turboprop engine planes of today.

"Jet-like speeds" -Kodiak 100 -Cessna Caravan
I love how the king airs are always in the list, but the merlin IIIB has a greater speed and depending on the configuration seats more
@@raymarshall6721 Maybe they're just looking at stuff still in production? It's been about 25 years since the last Merlin was built.
Who else is always looking at expensive toys they can't afford?
starting with my Ex GF.. Man was she expensive.
Amazing none of the turbo-props are under $2.6M. I couldn't care less about "operating costs" when the damn thing runs well into 7 figures to begin with.
Dream dream ... all I can do is dream
Yeah in the dreamer class
Look at the size of these cabins, 1.4 x 1.37 meters height x width for the "big" King Air 360ER, not what I would call "luxury"... piloting them may be great, but I bet you could have the same fun in much lighter and cheaper airplanes ?
Pilatus PC12. Highest and widest cabin, farthest range (if you want to fly 2,500 nm in a King Air 350 ER, better get a jet), by far best economy as less than 2/3 of a King Air in investment and operating cost plus quieter cabin and better resale value. ...and Swiss made.
GNUFZ PC-12 is one of my favorite planes
BMW interior and seats. Unpaved runways and STOL
@@tonyjones2742 Any can land on unimproved strips but do you want to risk your multimillion dollar airplance to paint chips and engine damage?
I flew both the Grand Caravan and Pilatus years ago for a charter company. Both planes excel for what we used them for, but the new PC-12 is pretty amazing.
Nice video. The video could benefit by having stats for: service ceiling, fuel burn rate at max & cruise, and speed at max & cruise for all models. Nice aircraft picks!
Thanks for your suggestions. I will take them into account in the future releases. I placed the links in the description to the manufacturers websites, in case you would like to learn about these more in-depth. Cheers
@@automotiveterritory Thank you very much for high quality videos, great information, and exciting vehicles.
You are very welcome!
I agree. And it would also be helpful to know which brands/models have options for single beds or a bunk configuration.
Nice vídeo!! Was the most complete resume vídeo about turboprops aircrafts. Interest now is make vídeos about each onde of them.
Appreciate the support!
Of course hands down "The Piper" Can't turn my head to another!!!!
Luxury cabins and private aircraft usually go hand in hand. Which of these do you find to be the most exciting though?
Both.
My head say Pilatus pc12, my heart Piaggio Avanti evo II, my wallet says nothing
Same here :)
I had a few rides in one and it is also my choice.
Hello man! Where did you get such a video at 13 seconds? Thank!
Absolutely Beautiful.. Breathtaking
They really are! Which of these did you like the most?
I've started out flying the Daher TBM 930 on Microsoft Simulator 2020. Thinking about buying one for my company. An incredible experience and such a smooth plane to fly. I'd say its the best plane on the list.
Nice pick!
2000 hours in the Caravan, I’ve moved on to bigger and faster planes, but the 208 will always be one of my favorites.
Hello there, I just wanted thank you for a perfect detailed and so nice informing video, many people share video about planes but never write full information in video. thank you and i hopoe you can continue like that in the future.
Glad it was helpful! Which of these models do you find to be the most exciting?
@@automotiveterritory I reall enjoyed your video with a calm voice greaat info with talk and write also under the video. I well I liked PIPER M600SLS with so much technology and future as you know can only dream of it, even if i can buy it with help of bank but still maintain cost are so high. it is better just buy a first class ticket and fly :))
Thank you Mr Roboto..
Always the PC12.
Awesome choice!
I wish there were more flying videos of the beechcraft royal turbine Duke
Precioso ese avión de lujo ⚡✨
Great video. Cool aircraft. I would be happy with any of them but would lean toward the Pilatus.
Good choice!
The TBM 930 in MSFS2020 sold me on the aircraft. If I ever get rich id get a TBM, so smooth and fast, I love this plane! The flight simulator is a great marketing tool, there has to be at least 1 person in this world that buys the plane after having tried it in the sim!
Pratt & Whitney PT6 é um patrimônio da humanidade.
Not an expert on planes but like the idea of two engines for safety reasons
The joke in aviation is the second engine gets you to the crash site 30 minutes before the ambulance. Plus they cost 3 times the amount to operate. Not 2 times.
As was said before... Yeah, losing one engine on takeoff is usually worse on a two engined plane. The safest Helicopter is the JetRanger and its one engined.
...have a look at the Pilatus website... good explanations and hard to kill arguments für flying single-engine...
Хорошая подборка! Спасибо за видео!:)...
Ага, буду копить деньги.
Could you please make more aircraft vids ? Thank you and Stay safe
I will do my best to bring more content like this, if the audience likes it. By the way, how do you like this lineup and which of the aircraft is your favorite?
Agreed dude
@@automotiveterritory Thank you for your reply . Honestly , even though this is a very good selection , my favorite is the new piaggio avanti , it really stands out from the croud . What's yours ?
I would go for the Halo technology on the new M600SLS. Hope Piaggio pulls through and doesn't get dissolved.
@@automotiveterritory The M600SLS is a very good aircraft , if the Avanti wasn't here I would have chosen it . I wish all the best for Piaggio , this market is very competitive and we need more companies to innovate like them . This is almost reassuring that they made a new (version of their) aircraft.
great video
Glad you enjoyed it. Which of these is your favorite?
I am a massive fan of the Epic1000, Full carbon fibre body. Super fast and quiet. Nothing beats the PT6 engine
It's an amazing model indeed.
My favorite, of course P180 Evo, but the PC-12 it's very amazing.
Great choices
If you have the Caravan and the Kodiak, you should have also included the Pilatus PC6 Porter. Otherwise nice video!
Porter is no longer being produced new.
@@maxj0930 Sadly true.
Magnífico 👏 👏
Which of these did you like the most?
Nice video fun to watch. Nice to dream.
Glad you enjoyed it. Which of these is your favorite?
It's a toss up between the TBM and the pilatus ...
Very nice.
Thank you! Which of these did you like the most?
PC12 is nice, but the Honeywell avionics leave a bit to be desired. If Garmin were to offer an STC to convert to a G1000 NXI could bring a lot of value to used PC12’s Good luck finding a new PC12. Limited production means paying a premium or a 3-5 year wait. Between the Cessna Caravan and the Kodiak, the Kodiak has better short field abilities. I like the Cessna Denali for the GE engine, full FADAC control and the auto land system. Backed by Textron is hard to beat.
Appreciate your feedback.
I’ll go with the King Air 350 ER thank you very much!
Awesome choice!
If you want to spend 6 1/2 Hours in a turboprop, have fun. I'd rather get a jet for the same money.
GNUFZ : Ah, but I’d rather be in a roomy turboprop than in a small jet with the dimensions of a rolled up aluminum newspaper thank you very much!
@@ibnewton8951 Well, the PC24 has a 23'0" × 5'7" × 5'1" cabin as opposed to 19'6" × 4'9" × 4'6" (both LxHxW) in the King Air 350, (Looks to me like the King Air is a shorter newspaper which is rolled up more tightly). It is in economy cruise 100kn faster, in max cruise 130kn (in the Mach numbers), which leaves you ample time for a refueling stop on a 2,500nm trip (and a pee as a single pilot), and you're still at your destination earlier. It tops at 45,000 ft which is definitely above any weather. With a PC24 you can actually fly from NYC to Europe with one refueling stop in 9 hrs, from LA in 14hrs with two. Try that in a King Air... All that for the same price tag, thank you very much! ...and it's Swiss made!
GNUFZ Does ER mean anything to you? Try land your PC24 on Benguerra Island in the Mozambique Channel. I’ve seen the King Air do it. Those Marie biscuit wheels of the PC24 will sink 5 inches into the runway. “...definitely above any weather.” Cumulus Nimbus too?
Are there any small planes that have bathrooms (other than the model built by Honda)?
My favorite is definitely the pilatus
That's one awesome model. Awesome choice!
The Transporter mine too
TBM 940 for me please - very fast, looks great, auto throttle and autoland
Amazing choice!
Is it possible to change rigid landing gear to retractable gear?
Anything is possible. Just need to find the proper engineers and mechanics
Can you get clarification on cruising speeds whether they are true or indicated airspeed? Companies like to bait and switch those terms to seem like they're a leg up on the competition, when they ain't.
Can't decide between the pc-12ngx, 350I, I'd have to say no to my favorite, the avanti because Idk if it would be possible to get parts for anymore. But this is all fantasy anyway, fun to think about, but I'll never have that kind of money.
My first plane will be Pilatus PC12NGX.
Sounds like a very nice plan :)
6:33 imagine Beechcraft releases an RTX version of this plane
bruhh it would have to have an afterburner or something
Epic E1000 beautiful, fast and charming.
Is it your favorite option in the class?
The "poor executives" got me
Turboprops are nice, but you really need to do your homework on the costs before you get one. You need to have some serious cash flow coming in; just ask S1K about the bill for $93,000 on the last annual that was done on the TBM 850 he flies. For some of these planes, the purchase cost is the cheapest part of owning one of these birds.
nice video
Thanks, which of these did you like the most?
Epic E1000!
Is it your favorite option?
Automotive Territory: Trending News & Car Reviews That’s the one I would buy, I believe it offers the best value.
Love this plane
Thank you
Which of these did you like the most?
Definitely 5 in my opinion it just looks cool and has slot of seats
Are these airplanes pour short trips? They would not be good pour a trip from N.Y.C. to L.A. or would they?
Due to the traffic in the direction of the airport, I would say a car/helicopter trip would be faster)
I would buy Pilatus PC-12 NGX
Very nice choice!
Kodiak 100 in a Video that Shows planes with jet like speed. 👏👏👏👏
Is the Mitsubishi Mu-2 still made ?
No, unfortunately none since 1986. The Solitaire at 300+ KTS and 1400NM range compares favorably to all but the Piaggio.
1. Pilatus-12NGX 6 passenger lux cabin 2. King Air 350i And if I really really hit it big! Global 7000 decked out! It would fly me nonstop from vacation to vacation. With 2 dedicated pilots and 1 server/waitress/cook.
Nice choices!
I'like this plan mark
Billionaires arent looking at Turbo Props.
Neat jets
Got a favorite one?
All are great planes but PC12 is a different level
Era papel 👍👍
Epic e1000 is truly a beautifull
It is indeed.
I want one now
Got a favorite one?
Nice video but the electronic voice was bad even for electronic voices.
Millionaires buy turboprops. Billionaires buy jets.
Oh my eye ! One engine ?
Turboprops over jets all day long!!!
Put a big shroud over the prop and you have a very high bypass jet.
I like Cessna caravan, may be to start air taxi company
Nice choice ;)
I have to say the E1000 is simply a sexy little machine
I'm with you on this one.
Piagio Evo is the bomb
Turboprop for me, they perform better than jets in bad weather, shorter landing & take distances needed
Which model is your favorite in this class?
pc12 my favorite
Low wings for speed, high wings for STOL.
The M500 seems like an incredible value.
Is it your favorite option in this class?
Bagus ok
Pilatus PC 6!
Your favorite of them all?
Pilatus is cool
Nice pick ;)
Waoo me gustsn los aviones de elise estilo antiguo con el diseño moderno no me gustan de turbina
Not one aircraft with a tpe 331 engine? For for fuel dollar, the pt6 variants just suck up fuel and deliver less horsepower than the 331 series from Honeywell. May as well have been a paid ad , this video, by Pratt and Whitney. Their engines are just mediocre in performance and economy comparted to the tpe 331 series.
Cessna M300 oooor Kingair 350i with a wishful dream of the Beechcraft starship.
so, you've not flown PC 12 yet?
MrChillerNo1 haven’t flown any. Those are just the ones I’ve liked so far. My opinion is just that. But I’ll look at pc12 and maybe put it on my “win the lottery” list.lol
Can you make it across the Atlantic in any of these bigger boys
No. Unfortunately these planes have half of the range needed for transatlantic flights.
HELLO LUVAR...
I would go for PC-12 with 10 seat configuration for my family.
Sounds like a decent choice
Aint a billionaire. Hoping I can get it with millionaire money.
We all do ;)
Show me a plane I can buy for 100k and we can talk, otherwise we all are just dreaming.
Belíssimo avião!
Glad to hear that you like it. Which of these is your favorite?
What happened to the Dubai billionaire that funded the new iteration of the Piaggio EVO? Did he bail on the program?

I don't mind owning any of these planes...... But I just don't have the cash to buy one!
When you do, which of these would you get?
As a Swiss patriot, I would not really have a choice ; )
LOL I'm glad you can stay patriotic and still get an awesome plane
Before subscribing your vdo we need to learn your language.
God speed!
I love the PC-12 so much
It's very nice for sure.
PC-12 ist a classic and the most versatile, the Cessna not in the Air until today... the others are too cramped (as some jets) for this (price-) class... ...nobody out there to donate me 5 Mio....

How did the Piaggio go insolvent if they had a faster flying plane with lower operating kosts!?!?!?
Beats me as well. Hopefully the project will be picked up and delivered to the market, it's too cool to fail
7.7 million with no bathroom 🙈🙈🙈🙈
Yep, nonsense. Porta potty to the rescue, I bet these are bought by billionaires who would like some humility and equalizers in their lives
For years, I’ve said if I won the lottery, I’d buy a King Air C90. But, lately, I think I’d go for a TBM 850 or Piper M.
Those are really some nice options
Daher TBM
Your favorite of them all?
@@automotiveterritory yes..and why the diamond da62 is not on your list?
It's a nice suggestion, though I'm limited to only 10 entries per episode. Will try to talk about it in the future.
@@automotiveterritory thanks, because i like prop airplane, perhaps you could review about turbo prop fighter plane next
Twin engine security of the King Air makes it an easy choice. Yeah, turbines never fail until they do.
And you don't need an nother Million dollars For the second Engine. For The Kingair.
Engine failure in the flight levels isn’t that big a deal unless you are crossing oceans. Lots of options to land.
Scary, but true. So many landing opportunities
I mean , anything that flies and has 1 engine is a no-no.....waaaay too much can go wrong with 1 engine...
