10 Most Economical Private Jets

Buying real estate and an aircraft have at least one thing in common: buyers are unlikely to satisfy all their needs and wants with a single purchase, so they must compromise to some degree. In the case of an aircraft, there always seems to be a trade-off between payload, speed, and mission. Aircraft salesmen pitch that a specific model can satisfy every need, but the truth is that this philosophy rarely translates to operational efficiency across a wide range of operations. For example, a large-cabin jet with a flight attendant, and satellite Internet connectivity might work well for flying several passengers non-stop across the North Atlantic. However, this is not the aircraft for an ideal CEO of a small company on a 500-mile day trip operating out of rural airports. So, if you have been looking for a private jet, you’ve probably noticed that many jets require a two-person crew. Of course, that second pilot increases your operating expenses. Imagine the savings of being free to hire just one pilot rather than two or just fly the jet your jet yourself. In this video, we present to you the top 10 most efficient single-pilot jets.

  • A question: when you say "miles per hour", do you meen terrestrial miles or nautical miles. In the aeronatical community "knots" is the right term for velocity and Nautical Miles is the appropiate term for range. "Miles per hour " is a bit confusing. Thanks for the info. Cheers from NE patagonia, Argentina.

    • How are normal miles more confusing than knots or nautical miles

      @matthelord7695@matthelord76952 жыл бұрын
    • @@matthelord7695 Both, Terrestrial and nautical are called miles. The diference in between are: TM (Terrestrial Mile) messures 1609 meters (or 1,609 Kilometers), and NM (Nautical Mile) messures 1852 meters (or 1,852 Kilometers). The ratio in between both is 1,15078, witch meens 1 NM is equal to 1,15 TM. In other words, 1 NM is 15% longer than 1TM; therefor the velocity mentioned in the video is confusing. Most of the terminology used in aeronautical lengage comes from the nautical environment, and in nautical terms, speed is always mentioned in "Knots", witch are Nautical Miles per hour. It was absolutely not my intention to disrespect anybody with my comment. I hope this answer clears a bit your concerns. I wish you well. Cheers from NE patagonia, Argentina. BTW, I´m a former pilot.

  • The moral is if your company is needing a small corporate jet(s) before it needs needing a bigger jet(s) best to checkout the company that makes it, otherwise the company will go bust and will be gone, and you'll be screwed for maintenance and spares. Cessna's offerings might be more expensive, but you'll know that Cesena isn't going anywhere soon.

  • The Eclipse actually had great potential and I think it was pratt and whitney's greedy pricing that killed them. 2023 price per engine was 911k$. Not easy to make money on a half million dollar jet when pratt and whitney wants 2million dollars in protection money. What Eclipse should do is make their own engine. Because the Eclipse is so great that it has better fuel economy than a Baron 58 piston twin while going 60% faster in jet silence. A small jet engine like the one they use is simply not that hard to make, it's machining of completely conventional steel and inconel. No exotic bearings or metal. As I see it it's simpler than a piston engine to make yet they are priced VERY differently. VW said a few years ago that their typical 4 cylinder turbo diesel engine cost them 2k€ each and that's not a simple engine. Yet that's 0.25% of the price pratt wants for one engine. The high pressure turbine in the PW610f is so small you can palm it in your hand. And that has to cost 1million dollars... I really don't think so. It's so despicable because it's really arresting GA. If they had a more reasonable price, say 50k then people would build all kinds of amazing aircraft around it. It's actually what the 100million dollar nasa project in 2000 tried to do. Williams got 39million dollars to develop a small engine and delivered nothing. They could just have scaled down their existing engines but no... nothing. The truly mindblowing thing is that turbofan jets can have as good or better fuel economy than piston props. And I know which one is cooler and more capable. And because jet engines are light for their power you can make truly ridiculous aircraft with more thrust to weight ratio than fighter jets. Able to climb straight up. So much untapped potential in GA. We could have had personal jets with good efficiency in the 1960s. Yet it wasn't done.

If you have to save money by hiring just one pilot, you should not get into the business jet game, because you definitely don't have the money to do so !! furthermore crew salaries are just a fraction of your jet operating costs. your biggest cost is asset depreciation and fuel. Stay out of aviation, if you can't afford proper and safe multi crew operations.

  • I think you are totally wrong, the most efficient jet is a turbo prop, like king Air, P180 or PC12. The public been conditioned in the last 3/4 century that jet is good and propellers obsolete, so they have to hide the propeller with a shroud and rename the propeller a fan. All high by-pass turbines are basically glorified turbo props but the public are too ignorant to know that. Jets have also been stuck at the "sound barrier" for 3/4 century. The fastest one is just a few knots faster than the next one. Biz jets are also only suitable for those short business trips and predictable schedules.Airlines with the big jets still have the edge in range. I will not get into any single pilot airplanes unless I get the co-pilot seat, or unless hostile natives are after me , like Indiana Jones. I rather fly with a pilot that is a bit drunk than one that had the vax. The drunk will sober up, the vax one can just keel over and someone else will have to land the plane.

No wonder the Embraer Phenom-300 is the best-selling private jet for the last 10 years in a row... Like the Phenom-100, they are the best in their equivalents, not just because they fly faster, higher and farther, costing less and maintaining the VIP +AAA standard of the product... but their great differential idea, I believe is Embraer's proprietary Fly By Wire system, and not a generic off-the-shelf system, as most of them don't even have a FBW system.
