I love how stoked Billie is when God says they're his favorite band
Nicholas Drobes It's because of the reference to the movie Bullet in a Bible where Tre says Green Day is God's favorite band ;-)
Nicholas Drobes Yesss
Mike too! Amazing
It's because Tré said that on camera a while ago lol, looked like he was going for the fistbump
😂
They're such a quality live band. Highly recommended everyone to catch a show
They are one of, if not the best live bands around. Was at the recent show in Houston and it was amazing. They way they bring the whole place together. I got home and immediately bought tickets for the Austin show in September
thatPUNKdude not the biggest green day fan , but they are amazing live.
Saw them live last night and it was the best experience of my life! I think they're at their best when they're live
Can't agree more, had never been super into Green Day but this was one of my favorite live shows I had ever seen
I saw them at the House of Blues in Cleveland two days before they got inducted. Front of the pit. Was lit!
Been with them from the beginning. My fiancé had a Dookie tee that was so worn it was paper thin with a fair share of holes. He passed away in '03, I kept everything memorable but somehow that shirt disappeared. Most likely in a move, I had a hard time for years so a lot of things got lost over time. You guys always make me smile and bring back great memories. Don't stop and don't take anything for granted, not even a T-shirt. xo. Thank you for the feature.
Aww he just missed American idiot. I'm so sorry for your loss
Dookie wasnt the beginning, though.
Sweet Children was the beginning
Tre is such an underrated drummer... The more I listen to Green Day the more I realise it...
avyeris nah hes one of the greats
Tré
Hes not flashy, not pretentious. Just solid, rock solid, creative, high energy drumming. Absolutely one of the greats. Also hes the silliest bastard in all of rock&roll. I dont think there's a person in music that has more fun than Trè
@@Linus76 What would be an example of a flashy or pretentious drummer?
@@theevildrummingsithlord1492 Tommy Lee is the first that comes to mind.
I love how after all this time, you can still see their passion for performing. One of the bands that I like who still has all of its original members. Lol.
Technically, Tre's not an original member. But regardless, it's impressive that they've all three stuck together for so long without any switch-ups.
1:22 revolution radio 6:15 affordable lyrics 8:05 forever now 15:48 ordinary world
"affordable lyrics" HAHAHAHAH
Wow Stephen's voice isn't so bad. He sounds so different from when he talks normally. I like!!!
Sir Francis 6:35
Muaz Qamar Stephen has literally done Musicals....
I heard that he is partially deaf in his left ear on top of that
He's Rivers Cuomo's older brother
yes!
The creators of the best graduation song ever.
Code S a graduation song about hating your dead dad. It's popular at weddings too.
A) He doesn''t hate his dead dad. He wrote Wake Me Up When September Ends as a song of mourning to him twenty years after his passing. B) Good Riddance is about a past girlfriend of his who dumped him and moved to Ecuador to join the Peace Corps. Still a hoot of a song at parties.😂
Code S Yes haha!! xD
Code S what song are you referring to?
to2burger good riddance (time of your life)
Jesus Christ Revolution Radio sounded almost like the studio version
I love the fact that it's been 25 years and they are still the kings of punk
That Thespian Person 97 I love the fact that the Sex pistols are still playing they're undoubtedly the Kings of Punk and don't use acoustic guitar cos that aint Punk
Forever Now is just WOW.
Meike Mittmeyer easily my favourite on this album alongside revolution radio and 99 revolutions
99 Revolutions was on Tre
One word ..........Legends
DID HE DO A FULL BAND VERSION OF GOOD RIDDANCE AT THE SOUNDCHECK!?!?!?!?!
Colbert and Green Day??? What a day to be alive!
My dad was and , still is , a big Green Day fan when I was born in '01 and got me into them from the moment I could understand shit tbh. Thank you dad , u du real mvp
Go dad!
Róisín Shallow I found green day myself at age 4 by myself, born in 01 too. You're dad must be cool
You're welcome son!
Róisín Shallow same. Although I was born in 2004... he got me into Dookie and then American Idiot. Then I took off and now I love Green Day.
Róisín Shallow parenting gone right.
I love the Bullet in A Bible reference with the "God's favourite band" bit.
"Let's get a sandwich."
The best thing to say after a show.
Right next to "let's go shopping" lol
Or "i wanna go to the bathroom".
Daniel Solano When was this quote said?
@@katou-kun9086 no stop cuz when I first saw the let's go shopping bit I couldnt stop laughing 😭😂😂
Green Day keep shouting out Colbert as if he made up the “God’s Favorite Band” thing. Tré said it first in Bullet in a Bible in 2005. Stephen just stole the phrase from Tré. 😂
Such a great band
I am convinced Billy doesn't age
I wanna touch his hair. *floof*
I touched his hair, once, in 2010. I SWEAR IT HAPPENED
Tj Robinett lol true
BILLIE
He is immortal
I saw Green Day 23 years ago when Dookie was first coming out. It was in Omaha, Nebraska at the Ranch Bowl (which is no longer even there). I still have my tour shirt! I think we probably paid less than $20 to see that show!
Tina Nalow It makes me sad they tore that place down, and replaced it with a Wal-Mart. One of many reasons I refuse to give those assholes my money.
Yeah I know how you feel. It sucks that a lot of bands who get really popular sell out and charge up the ass at large arenas to see them now. At least Sokol Auditorium is still there and doing pretty decent shows, but you won't see bands like Green Day there! It kills me; I've seen Rob Zombie 3 times and always been able to afford the tickets. Some bands just get too greedy and forget about their fans. 😢
Bands like Green Day are either on one of two extremes when it comes to their venues. They either play shows that are as big as possible, or as small as possible. I was fortunate enough to see one of the theater shows they did in September-October 2016. There was less than 4000 people there. But God damn those tickets were expensive (almost 300$ each). I've also seen them at far larger shows, and they are still really expensive. To get an awesome concert experience (for me that is relatively close seats and merch) it's going to set you back at least few hundred bucks for two people, which sucks, compared to how it seemed to be 20 year ago.
I love that their 40 and act like they're still 21.
And Billie still looks 21
Not sure how I feel about the baguette being used that way.
Catherinzsl I can never unsee that now... every time I look at a baguette...
Wouldn't have expected anything else from Tre
Catherinzsl poor baguette... he will be missed. 😢😢😢
Shenanigan Schmidt Trust me, there’s some girls who would love to eat that baguette
I mean that's why the French made them, duh
God still has good taste
*Tré puts a baguette in his pants* Yep, mom. That guy is my hero.
the night that Mike looked at me and smiled from the stage will forever be my favorite ❤
i need the name of billy Joe's moisturiser. He still looks 21.
Lucien its called "professional make-up artists"
Lucien Billie*
Lucien then why do the rest of em look older lol, plus he'd sweat it off, and in reality he doesn't look that young.
you know he's a vampire
TheFrozen Dawn In every picture and video of him live, interview, and out about he looks the same - consistent. It's not professional makeup, you would be able to tell.
They don't age. They were either frozen or ambered (Fringe triggered) around 2003.
"If this is what you call the good life, I wanna better way to die!" The official motto of the 21st century.
fucking forever now??? fuck yea man
also what was up with that little clip of full band good riddance? i wanna see the whole thing.
+Pints of Guinness ; I like your name ,good beer
Pints of Guinness this
John Johnson a pint of plain is your only man
Oh Forever Now? Isn't that really long song that plays for all eternity? Love! That song!

"God's favorite band" Billie and Mike look at Tré (I think they never forget the stupid things Tré says)
'CAUSE GOD WANTS TO WATCH HIS FAVORITE BAND!
@@kturner5022 Obviouslly but it was a funny thing to watch
Oh, letterman used to have these extra concerts. The bands he had on were amazing. I miss those days.
Billie has found the fountain of youth.
Bille invented the fountain of youth.
I agree but can we give Mike and Tre some credit too?
He found it and created a drought. It was around the time Insomniac was released
These guys don't age. Seriously.
Tre has absolutely aged
Raddycal Okay 65 is a bit of a stretch, maybe more like somewhere in the 30s.
They don’t
I still love Green Day so much. They really transformed my first year of high school back in 1996 and opened my eyes to a whole spectrum of music outside the Britpop world I had been living in in the UK.
Peanut Turner Green Day is my favourite band, but I still love me some Blur, and Oasis always had some good songs. I prefer Noel's singing over Liam's, though.
Dude Green Day is the best!
I wanna hear the full version of Good Riddance played by the full band! That was amazing!
Yeahhh!!!!
This is my new favorite thing ever! I love Green Day so much!
The Drunk Bunny you could say that they are Awesome as fuck, hehehe
Thank you Stephen Colbert and Green Day!
I love these kinda backstage videos, I hope you do more.
me too.. especially with guys like these.. they really show the fun..
Green Day still awesome 20 plus years later!!! The guys look pretty good! Billy looks like he's still 20 something! ;)
Ok, they got make Forever Now a single!
Ishaan Parikh it's getting the music video treatment supposedly.
They weren't always my favorite band. I was born in '03, and when I was younger I grew up listening to a lot of metal or alternative rock. In sixth grade a friend of mine told me to check them out, and I'm so happy that he did! I saw them in 2016, and they put on the best show that I've ever seen! I love these four men (yes I'm including Jason White)
chewiebaccas YT what about Jason Freese?
been a while since i heard some green day.
I love Billy. He has social conscience, like Bob Dylan and Bruce,Bono,The Beatles and some others. His music is not only great, but makes you think and move at the same time lol.American Idiot was right on point then as it is now.
Billie
when bja puts on the glasses he looks like ray william johnson, doesn't he?
tkzsfen ray william + aaron paul = billie
With "Live on Letterman" the Ed Sullivan theater hosted several bands, doing fuller, one-hour (Webcast) sets after the regular show (which LSSC could revive?). One of which, Annie Clark a.k.a. St. Vincent, was also a guest on the old Colbert show (where he called her "Vinny" & got her to talk about her Catholic childhood.) I still watch St. V's "Live" performance as the camera work & sound were superb. I'd love to see St. V back again; she's great live & that show really did justice to her music. On "standby" I was lucky to have attended several of Dave's shows in the theater in the past. Permit me to say (to God) that the ceiling renovation is fantastic!
i love this band so damn much
they been my favorite band since I was 12 now I'm 24 almost 25
I was working a venue when Green Day came to town & boss says, "I hope he keeps his pants on". Just watched on KZhead naked Billy Joel Armstrong perform... I thought only Red Hott Chilli Peppers did that.
i wish there was a love button
Tré: "How's it look?" me: "lookin' hot."
This is how more behind the scenes stuff should be; playing the entire song it just makes everything that much more enjoyable so that you Green Day and Steven Colbert!
14:05 Jason goofed up a little
Watched Green Day concert in Jakarta, Indonesia on 1996. Still on high school back then, cashed out all my saving in the bank for the ticket but found no one to go with so my dad accompanied me to the concert. Got a front row exactly in front of Billie Joe, had a great night. Unfortunately my dad got only headache, he was 69 yo man whom never understand why her daughter love the band so much 😂
andai ada video rekamannya..
Loved it OMG!! Never heard of the band before - just before just bought their album! WOW!!!! Thanks Stephen!!!!!!!!!!!! OMG this band it just makes you feel alive!!!!! Wow of all the bands when I first saw them come out !!! WOW awesome....he does it again, not a night without this show is sanity wish it was seven days a week like the news.
AllisonRewell how old are you, Green Day has been around for at least 20 years
... you've never heard of Green Day before?!
For more than 30 years actually :)
AllisonRewell how have you never heard of them??? ...this is sarcasm, isn't it? god damn it
Welcome to the club!
Mikes bass sounds so good during rev rad
The mix sounds really good
Just realised that Billie got his front tooth fixed
And the IdiotNation is in mourning.
And I know how he chipped his front tooth.......
I saw Green Day last February at The O2 in London and it was insane man.. they were my first concert and that night was everything I have ever asked for ❤ loved this, so happy Stephen has excellent taste in music
Elena Saccon dude that was my first concert to greatest night ever🤘
First concert ever? Wow that's like drinking top shelf and never being able to get drunk on anything else again.
Best metaphor to describe the feeling lol
I was there too but its not my first i saw them in milton kenes and again at hyde park unforgettable experiences and memories were made keep it up green day
Their fashion never left the early 2000's
Mr. ShyRyHud Apparently this kind of joke hasn't either
If I would have said, "The year 2000 called, they want their fashion back." Then maybe you would be right.
Is a plain black shirt not allowed in modern society? I'm confused.
Why would the way they dress? They look fantastic!
not really. They do like the color black a lot though.Like nearly every fucking Rock/Metal band does.
Two of my favourite things - Colbert and Green Day!
Welcome to paradise ✳️
they're not cringy I keep repeating to myself, they're just dads having fun... and I love them
I'm going to buy their new album! I like!
AndreaDance Welcome to the Idiot Nation!
I love Green Day! Best band ever!
Rose Dinegar No way the best band ever
Tre is fucking awesome 😂😂
When I listen to their music, it feels like I'm finaly home again. I adore Billie's smile, his voice, his fluffy hair, his talent, Tre's humor and Mike's radiant kindness and goodnesss (and such sharp jawline) and I'll be forever grateful for their existence. Thank you Green Day
Only Colbert would have this on his show!
God's favorite band 🤗
I know when they came to Detroit the week after this, Billie said he was fighting some sickness, but it absolutely KILLS me that his vocals aren't as "on point" as they usually are when they're not touring. Still gotta give props to him for pulling through, giving it his all, and still sounding great!
That rocked out version of Good Riddance sounded so tight!
Ordinary world was absolutely beautiful. I started crying out of nowhere while listening.
I watched this before I was really into them. Then i saw them in concert. Then i rewatched it I didnt know it was possible to love them any more
This was really a nice bonus. Thanks Late Show, Stephen, and Green Day!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Ok I will never be able to eat a baguette ever again... In other news I loved mikes reaction to Tre saying "nailed it!" He just cracked up lol
I love how Tre is wearing a Gilman Street T in this.
One of the best bands ever. The best band of their kind, imo. I love them.. have since 93 or 94. "Dookie" was the 1st "cd" I ever bought, at 12yrs old...(after a Michael Jackson, "Thriller" cassette tape.) still making soulful moving music.. thank God for them. They make the world a little better. 💚
thank you late show!
This was awesome.
0:06 - 0:14 the reason why Green Day gave their upcoming Greatest Hits album the name “God’s Favorite Band” if anyone was wondering.
Finally "Forever Now" live on TV. Sounds really amazing!!! Truly God's favorite band :D
0:10 Billie Joe in his head:"Damn that sounds good, I should name our next aong compilation that"
Gods favourite band
Love watching him sing ordinary world ahh
I’m I he only one who stays up until 4 in the morning watching awesome Green Day videos?
How has no one responded in 4 years? You absolutely are not the only one.
Loved this so much can't wait to hopefully see more bonus tracks in the future
NAILED IT
Thankful you guys are back and writing and performing... We missed you...
Billie is vampire , forever young
0:11 omg their faces
Man so happy i saw forever now live
i’m so glad they played Forever Now!!! it’s one of my favorites, but i haven’t found many live videos of it
I love the lighting. I can’t imagine all of the cues to that.
Soooo good!!!! thank you, Stephen!
The way Billie said why he loves Stephen is literally exactly why I watch this show. It gives the real news with humor
I love them!!!
Billie looks amazing for 45
NAILED IT!!! lmao
