  • What I realize while watching this video is that Nimrod, sonically, is a fantastic sounding record. Very big and very full. All the guitars are right in the front. Billie's voice is mixed great and cuts great. Mike and Tre lay a beautiful rhythm section in the background and their fundamentals are locked in. Man. I do miss this Green Day cause they don't do anything for me and haven't for quite some time. But when they were on it...they were unmatched.

  • The first time when I heard "when I come around", it was around the time nimrod dropped. I was in a Sam's Goody one day and I remember you could hear an album in its entirety when they were new releases. I was going through the whole album trying to find that song, instead I got hooked to every song from beginning to end. I didn't know that the song was older. Anyways nimrod was my first album I ever bought and it's still one of the best albums of all time to me.

I know he’s an MTV veejay, just saying it’s similar… they show up, bob their head for an hour and then go “cool guys, keep up the great work!” - the whole transaction is somewhat soulsucking. God bless all parties involved, and John certainly did a great job interviewing the band here, it’s just that the whole “studio visit” thing is a formula for awkward.

What exactly is he supposed to do other than his job: Listen and ask questions? I'm also not sure why it's soulsucking for someone else to listen to something they invested months of hard work into. Were they not intending to release this album? Was it a private recording just for the band? All these people are simply at work in this video. It's about as awkward as making a deposit at the bank.
