  • No real fans want eddie to go. Go to a game, and you'll not hear anything other than support and sympathy for the management and the horrendous injuries theyve dealt with this season

    • Exactly, it’s mainly fans on Twitter etc that make these ridiculous claims and it’s more reactionary after a loss, but IMO Eddie Howe is the best man for the job?

    • For me the warning bell was when he benched Tonali knowing he'd be missing matches, instead played players that ended up, or are currently injured. Should've played him bare to the bones. But I want him to get a chance for next season, don't fancy anyone like Mourinho…..

  • I’ve not heard any fans calling for Eddie to be replaced. This seems to be the narrative of some journo’s and so called pundits.

    @MarkSmith-lu7ly@MarkSmith-lu7ly29 күн бұрын
    • It's a media driven narrative. A lot of media corporations are US owned. Their anti-Islam & anti-Saudi agenda drives a lot of their outlets. The athletic, owned by the New York Times Company (vehemently anti-Saudi), is particularly guilty of this. How many positive articles do they write about Newcastle? 99% of their journalists produce absolute dross about the club. It's just a new media trend to bash NUFC by any means necessary & sowing seeds of discontent is a classic tactic. The worst thing that could happen to the Premier League would be an influx of US owners who would change it entirely. It's already happening. People just haven't realised yet.

  • It's absolutely inevitable that Newcastle United will eventually become a global superpower in football. You can't have owners like Saudi and for this not to happen! Obviously, it won't happen as fast as it did for Man City as they were taken over before rules came in and could basically buy success overnight. Newcastle are having to do it organically and 'by the book' but it WILL happen.

It just simply isn’t true that the fan base is disappointed/disenchanted/disillusioned or any other ‘dis’ word you like. It sincerely seems to be something lazily pulled out of any given journos arse when they run out of a line of questioning. And further to that, it always seems to be media folk based out of the region, it’s crazy, it’s almost like they have no idea what the f@@k they’re talking about…….probably just coincidence though

  • Absolutely zero chance of Newcastle becoming a new footballing superpower. I'm a Newcastle fan, but I don't live in the area so I can see things from the outside. The vast majority of supporters up there are so content with anything that's fractionally better than what they had under Mike Ashley that there'll never be the pressure that translates into achieving real success. And I'm sorry to say, as much as Eddie Howe is a lovely guy & a tremendous coach, he's not a true winner. He'll never ever bring silverware to the club. You'll see a lot of top 8 finishes, some last 8 runs in cup competitions, that's it. The fans will be happy with that, as long as it's an entertaining team. The problem is... that's not what the new owners want. They want success. That will either result in the owners bringing in winning managers, or... selling up. Mark my words, one of those two things will happen in the next few seasons.

  • I'm a real fan and I wouldn't be bothered if Howe goes - he can't keep a squad fit. Shown it at Bournemouth and now at Newcastle. Rafa got us from relegation fodder to 10th, and would've kept building if Ashley hadn't lied to him. No injury crises, no excuses. I don't mind either way - we either fund a deep squad and Howe is forced to make subs (since there's so many decent players wanting to play), or we're injury crisis FC again and he gets replaced by Mourinho - and we might win something. Howe isn't beyond reproach - can use players to get short term results, but can he make the club sustainable? Jury's not in yet for me. Bournemouth would've kept him otherwise.
