  • When they say “Our Ice Cream Machine Is Broken”, they really mean: “We are doing a routine bi-weekly(every 2 weeks) maintenance on our ice cream machine, but due to the fact that McDonalds has a contract with the company that made it that states the manufacturer has to be the one to actually maintain it, we often have to wait anywhere from 1 to 4 days out of the week until they can come out and do their job that the contract states they’re required to do”. Just a little insight into why Mickey Dee’s always has their ice cream machines pulled apart.

    • It's also because it has a confusing interface that the employees at the store don't know how to interpret. Only the technician has the codes. The company allows only them to have it. Someone even invented a device that can be connected to a phone via Bluetooth with easy to read codes and instructions. It's called a Kytch. The inventor is suing McDonald's after corporate told the owners not to buy it. He sold some to thousands of them, but when corporate found out, they said it was potentially damaging to the machines. Which would be libel against the Kytch creator.

  • Cleetus , what you guys are doing with that Ripsaw is nothing new . Back in 1968 some guy in Los Angeles bought a Surplus M-1 TANK , fixed it up and got it all ''street legal'' , then took it to the DMV and had it inspected , registered , and licensed as a ''street legal'' motor vehicle , --- he even got ''custom'' license plates which read '' US TANK '' . He'd had the Tank repainted in Mil. Spec. Olive Drab , he'd kept all of the military insignia and markings , and even had the hard rubber track-pads for pavement usage . One really COOL looking machine . One day on my way home from work , I was travelling North bound on the Golden State Freeway (Interstate 5) and traffic was moving along at 40 to 45 MPH , which is about normal for ''rush hour'' traffic . I look up ahead and what do I see in the far right-hand lane --- THE TANK and he's moving along at a steady 40 MPH (well within the Speed Limit) , and the rest of the traffic is slowing down to see it --- this is something you just don't see every day . I carefully maneuvered my way through traffic until I was directly behind him , put on my Four-Way Flashers , and we travelled as a ''team'' for the next 5 or 6 miles up the Freeway . Suddenly this Cop comes up , turns on his overhead lights , gives a couple of Whoop-Whoops on his siren and tries to force his way in between us . I back off and traffic is also backing off , so I take this opportunity to change lanes to the left but holding slightly back behind the Cop Car . The Cop hit his siren a couple more times to no avail as the Tank just kept on going . I guess this Cop thought he was going to make a name for himself by doing a traffic stop on the Tank while on the freeway . What this bone-headed Cop forgot was that on this stretch of freeway there is literally no place to pull off without crashing through the barrier fence and driving into the L.A. Flood Control Channel . While watching this Cop play his games , I noticed the Turret on the Tank start to move . There obviously had to be at least two people inside the Tank , because now the Turret was rotating to the right . I started laughing because I knew what was coming . The Turret continued rotating until the Cannon was pointed directly behind the Tank , and the Barrel started lowering until it was pointed directly at the center of the Cops windshield . I have never seen a Cop ''Shit & Git'' so fast in my entire life . The Cop slammed on his brakes , nearly causing an accident with the vehicle behind him . The Cop turned off his overhead lights and faded into the traffic , leaving the scene . I took this opportunity to move back behind the Tank , gave the Tank a couple of beeps on my horn , and a Big THUMBS UP . The Tank moved the Barrel up & down a couple of times in acknowledgment and then rotated to it's normal forward position . We continued ''teamed up'' for another 8 to 10 miles and then I had to leave as i had to transition to the West bound Ventura Freeway , while the Tank continued North bound . ---- This all happened over 50 years ago . I'm 75 years old now and I remember it all as if it had happened just a couple of days ago . --- < Doc > .

  • What's amazing is, In my state, you can register and put a surplus army tank( eg. M-4 Sherman or M-60) on the road as long as it has the rubberized insert pads in the tracks. However, as of this April 1st, it's illegal to alter the factory ride height of a car or light truck. Modify the factory intakes or exhaust (louder than factory dB level) or have removable baffles in the mufflers, including motorcycles. I believe the fines start at $750.

Got about 500+ linear feat of 3-4 ft wide belt w/ plenty of usable material. The suck ass part will be the tedium of building the tracks as 2-ply for instead of the single other seemed to do. Not as durable as continuous run steel-belted...just don't try doing burnouts. Might even try making road//bogies using modified wheel rims & vulcanize track. Just have to remember to bring ready repair sections & sling them onto the flanks like real tanks did...
