Hello guys, this time we Hand Forged a Damascus SICKLE out of four ball bearings. We started this project back in February 2022 and this took us almost a year to be completed as we forged it by hand following ancient smithing manual.
I recommend you to watch full video you'll enjoy revealing damascus patterns and it's final results, I tried my best to make best sickle on internet. I didn't make it too sharp because I never make it to cut grass or harvesting of vegetables, this is just a fantasy object and can't use in real life.
I used these types of steel.
High carbon bearing steel= 52100 chromium steel
1020 wrought iron
Overall weight= 1300 Grams
Overall Sickle Length= 18 inches
Handle Length= 8 inches
Blade Length= 10 inches

    • It really doesn't. This is a pretty poor quality item slapped together by someone who appears to have limited experience in doing so. And I've ground kitchen knives on my bench grinder sharper than their finished product was. All in all I'm not impressed.

    @jameslewis1605@jameslewis1605 Жыл бұрын
    • Not sure it is millions. There are millions of forge workers who make next to nothing crafting knives. It's kind of time consuming to make something that can be mass produced industrially in the same quality in a fraction of the time. At this point the only reason to spend money on it is the handcrafting. Which is often worth it, but stupid expensive.

  • It is a beautiful piece for sure. The cracks in the handle make it questionable on it's strength though. On the tang alone were some really deep cracks through put this item at risk of stress fractures. Something that could have been ground out or welded in as easy fixes though. Otherwise, this was a great item!

    • the reason why you don't see people hand forge damascus is exactly what this video showcases. it's riddled with delaminations and a crapton of cracks. I would say if you were to drop this it would shatter, but it would probably just dent as it's clearly not heat treated what so ever, with the grinding going that smoothly.
