Rusted Japanese KATANA SWORD (kind of) - BEST RESTORATION
Rusted Japanese Katana swords are way to famous in all over the world so today its been a great pleasure for me i am showing you the whole restoration of the same katana sword in this video. And thanks for giving me 29:00 minutes of your time.
The Blade length is 2.5 ft (76.2 cm) and the handle is 9 ft (22.86 cm).
The overall Sword length is 3.3 ft (100.58 cm)
Here is the whole procedure of this video
o. Used very diluted Sulphuric Acid for removing RUST.
o. Perfectly sanded the blade on my belt sander.
o. Quenched into the Black oil for hardening the Steel.
o. Whet sanding was done upto 1000 grit on the sword.
o. Made a candle wax mold for the guard.
o. Brass Casting was done in my homemade furnace.
o. Sanded the guard with files and after that sanded with different grit of sand papers.
o. Made the HIBAKI piece with the same procedure of Wax casting.
o. Etched our logo of random hands with the help of Ferric Chloride.
o. Hibaki was sanded upto 1500 Grit SandPaper.
o. White wood chosen for the handle.
o. The brass diamond beads were casted with same wax method.
o. Brass beads were embedded into the wood with the help of scroll saw.
o. Used router for routing the wood for the tang.
o. Again Blade was sharpened upto 5000 grit.
o. Polished the Blade with buffing disc.
o. Blackened the wood with the help of gas torch.
o. At the end Finishing process was done by attaching all the pieces with Epoxy.
o. Now used the Clear Paint for better look.
o. Sword is ready for testing.

So true. Early sword in Castlevania SOTN was literally called “red rust”.
I think we all understand that this wasn’t a proper japanese-style Katana before, but give that man some credit! First of all he did write „kind of Katana“ and secondly he did a fine job!! He really tried to create and rekindle the idea of traditional katanas and I think he really outdid himself. So instead of saying „that isn’t a katana though“ again and again I think we should appreciate his efforts!!
Exactly my thoughts.

You need to bear in mind that these swords have huge cultural significance in Japan. The kindest thing would have been to take it to a scalp merchant.
@@kevin5073 I do bear that in mind, but I would not agree with saying he’s culturally appropriating anything here or dissing him for trying his best.

I think your "Japanese Katana" is actually a Thailand "Krabi" sword. That would explain the round wooden handle, short tang and overall shape... where did you get that?
Dang if that sword was actually from my home country it would be cool ,but I cant tell if its krabi though.
No idea about the tang, but it looks like some kind of cavalry saber, or a weapon of similar purpose. Def not Japanese craft though, as it's a solid blade, not folded steel.
Damn didn’t even think of that I was so focused on the blade I didn’t notice the handle.
Maybe your right because katanas are signed by the bladesmith
I see what you mean I don't entirely think it's a Krabi sword tho

This isn't the best restoration I've ever seen, but there was an immense amount of effort and care put into this with limited tools, and it takes a lot to create content, so I respect this work
I didn't like a lot of his choices for the handle (a katana is supposed to be a 2 handed weapon. He did a one handed middle eastern style)... However, I was really impressed with how well he polished the brass. A lot of people do very badly with brass casting.
This looks like it's for the "low budget samurai " lol But... "It will keeeeeeeeellll"

Excellent the lost-wax casting process. I remembered my studies of manufacturing processes. Good job.
I love when someone grabs something, turns it into something different from the original design, with different materials, and calls it restoration.
I think he destroyed a piece of history just now. Unless that was just his old attempt at making a katana years ago and is pretending it's an artifact.
The souls this blade has trapped inside must be legendary.

Most likely wasn't used in combat, if it was found rusted and on the street somewhere.

Mind blown. It never ceases to amaze me how much work, love and craftmanship goes into even the simplest things.
BIG TIP: Remove the slag from the top of the crucible before you pour. It will make your pour cleaner, less imperfections in the material, and give you more control of the material. All of this will decrease the amount of work needed after the material sets up.
Maxing out that starter sword because it still holds up even by the end of the game

That wooden handle at the begining made me laugh. No katana handle is ever tied by by wires

Well since you glued the tang into the handle... Hope the blade never comes flying out from swinging it..
