VERY GOOD OBSERVATION!!!! ALEX IS ACTUALLY A SERIAL KILLER! Why he really killed Paul and Maggie?? We have a few theories but they do not seem strong enough. We assumed the boating lawsuit for Paul and also Paul playing detective by finding his stash of drugs. Maggie possibly divorcing him. But none of those are strong enough motives. But there is one very strong motivation for Alex to wipe out Paul and Maggie! I believe Alex killed the housekeeper by knocking her in the head so bad and then throwing her down the stairs. Paul and Maggie were the only other people at home thar day. The housekeeper had found his drugs and he was afraid she would go to the police. He bashed her head in a moment of rage and then all three of them stuck to the story, that she fell down the stairs. He must have told Paul and Maggie to stick to that story. As we have seen how Alex has tried to influence both the new housekeeper about his clothes after the murder of his wife and son. He also tried to influence the caretaker of his mother's by implying that he would pay for her upcoming wedding. That is his m.o.!!! Maybe Maggie had had enough of him and she wanted to come clean. Or maybe she and Paul was using it against him to kind of blackmail him demanding money from him. He thought they might go to the police and report the crime and he would go to prison and it would destroy the family legacy!!! Don't you all see, it makes sense!!! There was a reason why he killed Paul and Maggie because he had something so damning to him that it needed to be done!! Maggie and Paul were threatening him that they would spill the beans and go to the police with the truth as Maggie was getting ready to divorce him as their marriage was ending. She had moved to the beach house. She may have been afraid of him then as she said on the day of the murders that he was acting strangely and that he was up to something. Had Maggie and Paul gone to the police his life would have been finished!! Because the question was always what was so bad about both Maggie and Paul that they needed to be eliminated???? He had to check both Paul's and Maggie's phone to see if there was anything about that info on him. I think I cracked the case!!! If only Alex would admit to it. Alex had killed before Paul and Maggie. He had killed the housekeeper. That is why he is so cool. I also believe Alex killed Steven Smith the same way with a blow to the head. Steve Smith was a friend of both Paul and Buster. We are not sure what the relationship was. If Paul was in a sexual relationship with Steven he may have had reasons to eliminate Steven as it would take away from the family legacy. He also made sure to sho t at the heads of both Paul and Maggie. That is his m.o. for all his killings!! Most serial killers have HE IS A SERIAL KILLER!!! The police need to look into people that had contact with Alex, that may have died under mysterious circumstances!!! This man has been doing some killing that is why he is so cool after killing his son and wife. And that it does not bother him!!! FOLKS, WE HAVE A SERIAL KILLER!!! PS....Hakeem Pinckney, the quadriplegic that Alex stole from, died when his ventilator was switched off. The next day Alex Murdough showed up at his mother's home to file a law suit against the nursing home.....and pocketed again the money from that lawsuit. Alex slipped in the nursing home and unplugged his ventilator. The serial killer was able to use his blue lights and everything else to get away with his crimes. I believe that he used his blue lights to stop Steven Smith to stop. And killed him in the middle of the road. you are right, we don't know how many he has killed as nobody has put it together.....sad.
I truly think it's something else huge that AM is hiding. I don't believe he had an addiction for one second. To lie about an addiction repeatedly and continuously, I think he is hiding something huge and very horrific. I'm also curious about the personal car with police lights.

May God bless these brilliant lawyers fighting for right. Nobility is the best word to describe these prosecutors. They truly care about justice for this horrific act of this murder…murder of the worst kind! I cried when Mr. Waters said, “ She was running to her baby.” Alec hunted her down like a hog. Yes indeed. Pauls last act was serving his friend Rogan. Filming the dogs hind quarters to detect a possible problem. Turns out that same last act also confirms Paul was a " little detective" as he served the authorities the evidence needed

I think the fact his sons brain was out of his head and by his feet, and Alex tells the cops “I checked his pulse” “are you sure he is officially dead?” Really gave it away for me, as a father of a two year old son, if anything happened to him I would be so inconsolable I wouldn’t be able to make clear sentences, I would be trying to ask who did this, why it happened, not explaining some crazy story and establishing a timeline of specific times I wasn’t there.

people die all the time. i have come upon a close family member’s death myself. there is no reason to get worked up. sure it’s a gruesome scene but i’m sure he’s seen worse as evidence in court before.

I lost my only child, my beautiful 19yr old daughter on Auguat 18, 2008, and it took me LITERALLY 3 months just to get out of bed a sobbing mess, and that was with the aid of friends and family. I cldnt eat or sleep for over a year. I had to force myself. I STILL can't talk about it to ppl without falling apart as soon as I say her name. How this man was able to do what he did to his son (and wife), leaves me speechless bcuz I cannot fathom it. I wld give ANYTHING to have even 5 minutes more with my daughter, ANYTHING! Time doesn't heal a wound to your soul like that, you only learn to (after wanting to d*e for YEARS) navigate life without the most important person in your life was taken from you. This man is diabolical.

Man ! This prosecutor did an amazing job in his closing argument, he painted a whole picture of how this happened minute by minute and all of it told the story and made it make sense. He said he wasn’t there. If they didn’t find that video on Paul’s phone he probably would have gotten away with it. That video put him right at the kennel location a few minutes before Maggie and Paul were murdered. When asked if anyone else was there he said “no”. He admitted it! No one else there but him! No one else on the video recording the kennel visit but Maggie, Paul and Alex! God Bless Maggie and Paul because they didn’t deserve to die like that from someone they thought was suppose to love them! Outrageous!

I believe he himself stole the black out rifle. This is premeditated. He stole the gun long ago and was plotting this. He said in court, "Whoever killed my son had hate for him" Yep, it was dear ole dad that hated him for the boating accident. It was gonna cost him everything. Don't do drugs people..they will make you irrational in your mental illness. He literally aimed the gun at his own flesh and blood and blew his brains out. That's a whole different level of sick.
Blaming drugs is an excuse. If drugs were responsible -everyone on drugs would be murderers. A drug addict is not a murderer. This man IS a psychopath. THAT makes a murderer.

It's not as if Paul was the adult, taking a bunch of underage kids on the boat, not to mention they'd nearly collided w/the Woods Swing Bridge earlier in the night (aboard the boat) on their way to go bar-hopping before they later re-boarded the boat & crashed. It was terrible what happened but if you knowingly get into any mode of transportation w/a drunk at the wheel, you have no one to blame but yourself for your poor decisions.

I thought he may be getting setup, but after hearing the Prosecutors closing argument. I have changed my mind. I believe he is guilty. I never heard the whole time line, and after hearing how he laid it out. It sure looks like he did it. The Prosecutor did a fantastic job! Bravo, well done!
There is also testimony from the caregiver, for his mom, that he tried to get the her to lie for him and say he was there longer that he was. (40 mins instead of the 20 mins) This would be his alibi for being else where during the murders.

They had no idea until they looked into his eyes before he pulled the trigger. My heart is 💔 for all parties. Unless you have encountered such a person it is hard to wrap your head around this. I was duped and it took me 22 years to figure it out. Thank GOD my girls and I made it out alive. Please be safe❣️ There are dangerous people out there. BTW, I gave him the benefit of the doubt. It took a minute to figure out he is just like my former husband. It’s frightening. I hate to put any negativity into the Universe. This guy is so committed. Power point...probably up all night making sure he gets everything exactly right and believable. He did say he slept very little and ate soup for meals....pure dedication. I cannot imagine the hours he put into this closing statement. One of the best.
I agree- he did an incredible job and also his entire team. They had a lot of evidence in their favor but he clearly lived and breathed this case every day…most of the State believed the State would fail to get a conviction because of how “ powerful” the name Murdaugh was in that State…

Love can be the root of all evil. Motive for murder is often love, including love of money. I think that's part of the motive here. There's also ego/pride -- love of self, and also prevalent here. However, I think the jury will hang. There'll be at least one holdout for not guilty.

At 62, this was the first case I have ever watched on Court TV and it was this prosecutor that lured me in. He was truly amazing the way he pulled everything together for the jury! Congratulations, all yours and your team's hard work paid off and this monster is locked away forever, as he should be!!!

I never ever ever follow court cases like this. But my mom did. High profile, low profile, cold case, court t.v. She'd stay up to read, keeping books on hand the way chain smokers keep cigarettes nearby. My mom always tried to talk to me about them but I wouldn't. I would stop her. I wouldn't listen to any part of it. ✋️ She died of Covid. This might not make sense but I'm following this one for her. Wishing just one time I would have tried to see why she did. The way he carried all his files with him like he slept with them in case he needed a quick answer. Lots of prep unlike the oj trial where the prisecuters were out partying and signing autographs

Maggie and Paul weren’t meant to be at that location. Maggie was staying at another home- away from Alex. The day he gets called out he requests them to be at the hunting lodge where he has access to countless guns. Two of which were used in the murder and are now missing. He lied about being at the kennels then later admits it due to his son capturing his voice on one of his last moments shared to snap chat. He asked people to lie about the duration of his visit with his mother. My theory is he had the guns in the kennel. Usually a shot gun has 2 rounds. Those were used on Paul- who had no defensive wounds BECAUSE HE WOULDNT EXPECT HIS FATHER TO KILL HIM. Maggie ran to aid her son and was killed in the act of doing so with the OTHER GUN that was also there. I bet he was shooting from low/ hip level. They both knew about Alex’s pill problem and Maggie was ready to leave. What did he have to offer? His finances were already known to her when the checks she wrote for charity bounced. Paul’s stupidity was the beginning of Alex’s downfall of all his thievery. Literally the day he’s confronted his son and wife end up dead? His onstar contradicts his story. They both enjoyed their alcohol, so if they put Paul in rehab, they themselves would have to abstain from drinking and all alcohol would have to be removed from their homes and their parties. Throughout this trial, with all the deceit and horror, one thought has become lodged in my thoughts. I cannot fathom the hurt Maggie must have felt as it became clear to her, in her final moments, the full extent of Alec's betrayal. Not as much for paul because that first shot probably scrambled his awareness. With Maggie it seems worlds different; she would not live very long, but after the first second of her recognition her feeling of sheer betrayal could only have added to her agony. The betrayal was far worse than 'the shot'. I only hope that Maggie can finally rest in peace.
I have thought about that many times what Maggie must have thought once she realized what was going on. Seeing the man you loved kill your son and now he is coming for you. Disbelief and trying to wrap your mind around it. Sheer horror. She did tell a friend that day that she felt Alec was acting fishy when he insisted she come home. She had just left for the beach house that morning and had no intentions of coming home that night, but he insisted her and Paul both be there.
To set your mind at ease, perhaps those final moments were confirmation of something she had known, that she had intimations of, but did not want to believe. Perhaps they were revelatory. Gaslighting narcissists are very good at transferring their problems and weaknesses on to others, reaping confusion, making others lose touch with reality when in fact they have...she may have been questikning this and his actions proved she was right. One of the witnesses, maybe her sister, said she was considering divorce. I think her son Buster knows more than he has said but is covering up for his dad, this dad who was prepared to stage a roadside death to ensure his son gets left a legacy..such bribery there.
Forgot to mention it didn't help that Buster flipped off one of the witnesses! What a tool!

I remember one time when we had a drugged out home intruder (long story) and I was out of my chair and had that person shoved out our front door without even consciously realizing what I was doing until after. I just knew in my mind where my baby was and i didn’t want them anywhere near him and wanted them out of my house before questions could even be asked as to why they were there. my husband didn’t even have time to act and he was sitting right next to me.
It’s no wonder that Buster said “NO” to his Dad when he asked Buster if he wanted to go hunting on the property after the killings. I’d have been afraid too (even of my own father) & wouldn’t want to be his next potential victim. Except I’d have said “hell no Dad!”

Didn't he say this on direct, too? That means it's a line that was probably rehearsed and planned. This line/excuse must have been the only way they could think to explain the fact that he continually lied about something only the killer would know was incriminating. We knew the defense was desperate by the fact that they let him testify, but this line itself was flabbergasting.

As important as the recording of the beginning of the 911 call was, I can't believe the prosecutors didn't bring in the person that answered that call. The recorder starts recording AS SOON AS THE CALL COMES IN. Not when the person answers the call 911 what is your emergency? Alex did not start his act until the operator was ON THE LINE. We could hear him before that but the emotions were engaged when she answered the call. Why? Because he did NOT KNOW he was being recorded before she picked up the phone. Was that not key to proof of his perpetual lies?
This prosecutor did an excellent job with an incredibly difficult case. He represented Paul and Maggy well.
Mark Billingley’s testimony is all that was needed to show undeniable motive. He said to Alex prior to the murders that he was going to seek composition for Mallory by going after Maggie and Paul

You and the judge brought this case to a completion of fairness and justice that should be used as an example in criminal and law courses... especially bringing down a man who truly believed he was above the law.
I was impressed with the juror (later video, obviously) who probably figured out the angle of the 2nd shot to Paul. Alex thought he killed Paul but Paul was walking towards him. Alec tripped over door jam getting away and, when Paul got to door, Alec was on ground and shot up at Paul, “doing him badly.”

Imagine the shock and horror Paul experienced in the last split second of his life when he realized his own father was intentionally murdering him. I've been addicted to opiates since I was 21, I'm now 36. Started after an injury and meds from doctors that I had no idea about. I buy over the counter and take maximum 600 mg and that is a huge dose. I can't see how a man his age can work and function on that amount. Also I couldn't spend what he spent a year on drugs in my whole lifetime of the ones I buy which are expensive. I work minimum wage and just about afford it, I would never ever steal from someone to pay for it. His testimony about the money and pills just doesn't seem plausible. That amount of money had to be getting spent elsewhere.

We assumed the boating lawsuit for Paul and also Paul playing detective by finding his stash of drugs. Maggie possibly divorcing him. But none of those are strong enough motives. But there is one very strong motivation for Alex to wipe out Paul and Maggie! I believe Alex killed the housekeeper by knocking her in the head so bad and then throwing her down the stairs. Paul and Maggie were the only other people at home thar day. The housekeeper had found his drugs and he was afraid she would go to the police. He bashed her head in a moment of rage and then all three of them stuck to the story, that she fell down the stairs. He must have told Paul and Maggie to stick to that story. As we have seen how Alex has tried to influence both the new housekeeper about his clothes after the murder of his wife and son. He also tried to influence the caretaker of his mother's by implying that he would pay for her upcoming wedding. That is his m.o.!!! Maybe Maggie had had enough of him and she wanted to come clean. Or maybe she and Paul was using it against him to kind of blackmail him demanding money from him. He thought they might go to the police and report the crime and he would go to prison and it would destroy the family legacy!!! Don't you all see, it makes sense!!! There was a reason why he killed Paul and Maggie because he had something so damning to him that it needed to be done!! Maggie and Paul were threatening him that they would spill the beans and go to the police with the truth as Maggie was getting ready to divorce him as their marriage was ending. She had moved to the beach house. She may have been afraid of him then as she said on the day of the murders that he was acting strangely and that he was up to something. Had Maggie and Paul gone to the police his life would have been finished!! Because the question was always what was so bad about both Maggie and Paul that they needed to be eliminated???? He had to check both Paul's and Maggie's phone to see if there was anything about that info on him. I think I cracked the case!!! If only Alex would admit to it. Alex had killed before Paul and Maggie. He had killed the housekeeper. That is why he is so cool. I also believe Alex killed Steven Smith the same way with a blow to the head. Steve Smith was a friend of both Paul and Buster. We are not sure what the relationship was. If Paul was in a sexual relationship with Steven he may have had reasons to eliminate Steven as it would take away from the family legacy. He also made sure to sho t at the heads of both Paul and Maggie. That is his m.o. for all his killings!! Most serial killers have HE IS A SERIAL KILLER!!! The police need to look into people that had contact with Alex, that may have died under mysterious circumstances!!! Oh my did you really think that was a great close ? Let’s face it he probably did it, but the state didn’t prove that he did it was a lackluster performance by the state they had no murder weapon. There’s other people with motive nobody in his family had life insurance and he’s so money hungry why wouldn’t he have insured them since the state said that, he planned it out for a long time he would think he’d be better prepared kind of a waste of a murderer don’t you think? The best thing was Alex taking the stand and turns out he is super charming and likable. I mean he’s slick as can be but you could really see why he was able to get away with the things he was able to get away with for so long they never found the clothes they never found the murder weapons he had to have used to murder weapons and then ditched them. Also, he would’ve had blood on him and anybody that commits such a violent crime always messes up when they get in the car and they adjust their mirror or put their seatbelt on. There’s always some blood somewhere in the car just like the kids in Iowa, Brian thought he was slick and had everything well thought out and had done dryer, runs and methodically planned out that entire murder and what happens he leaves one tiny little finger, print on the knife case … this slob kebab left not even a smudge anywhere think about that that’s almost impossible to not get even a pin drop of blood anywhere. He was so proud of him just looking at him you know not everybody is 100% bad all the time people have redeeming qualities and his redeeming qualities was that he really loved his children and to blow his sons head off would’ve been a incredibly horrendous and difficult thing to do as a father. Yeah I don’t see this man being able to blow them away and for what reason what was the motive he gained nothing no life insurance he lost a ton of friends and it looks like her sister certainly has her doubts so if I was losing all of my wealth and my material items and my status in the community, the one thing I would want and would need is my family to rely on to support me through it also remember he was losing his father as well and you think that would be the time that he would want to off his wife and children when his father was dying and he was going to be disbarred and they were being sued and they were gonna lose everything at least if he was going to do it, don’t you think he would make sure that he would get money ? It really doesn’t matter because I think he’s facing 99 crimes on the financial side, which is going to put them away for the rest of his life and on the stand, he admitted that he stole and lied, so there goes that case, although I am not sure if they will allow that although he’s not guilty plea it’s kind of out the door. The motive is that the wife was about to blow the lid on AM stealing millions from the firm. The wife had hired a forensic accountant to go through the financials. She had just hired a divorce attorney, and when she told AM that she was going to tell the firm about the millions he stole and she wanted a divorce, he realized everything was about to come crashing down and he killed her. That's MOTIVE. I think Paul was likely collateral damage.

The lie that aggravated me the most is Alec said 'he didn't want to go to the kennel. Maggie wanted him to go, so he eventually decided to go to please Maggie.' So he blames this all on Maggie!
