#32 Citation M2 Review | One of the best Single-Pilot Jets!

2024 ж. 15 Мам.
102 057 Рет қаралды

This week we finally get to show you a full review of the Citation M2. You have seen us fly this and other Citation M2s in several videos now so I hope we don't bore you with more Citation M2 content, but I thought this plane, especially as popular as it is, deserves a stand-alone review like we did on other aircraft before. The Citation M2 is based on Cessna's 525 platform and is basically a rejuvenated Citation CJ1, which also was a very successful platform. Today the Cessna Citation M2 is one of the best single-pilot jets money can buy. List price of these is $5.5 million USD.
If you have any questions in regards to the Citation M2 or if you're interested in purchasing or leasing one, please feel free to contact me. Info below.
Special thanks to Matt Keegan for letting us film this review of his airplane.

    • Rich is very cool and genius seems to me. Again everything is relative I guess. But you are right, he is underrated for sure for no reason. He is ocean of airplane knowledge!!! Pardon my language but there people who put stupid shit they get millions of subscribers.. I my view Rich deserved to have 2Mil subscribers . Some times things do not add up.. and do not make sense.. I guess some time you got to blow your own horns..then people can hear!!! Like I go every day to my boss and I tell him I did this shit , that shit, shit is so difficult..,then and then he believes me and understands my value.. and gives me raise little..

  • I love the CE-500 Series which is basically what a M2 is. My first Business Jet back in 1998 was a 500 with the Eagle Mod, VH-HVH. We really appreciated the Eagle Mods extra range for Ops in Australia. We flew it everywhere in Australia and as far as Singapore on a regular basis for many years. PS. There are many much quicker (and cheaper) ways to get from Sydney to Singapore than in a CE-500 but none are as much fun nor convient !!!! Never had a AOG !!!! The 500 was just an amazing plane, Capital cost, Operating Cost, capability, easy to fly, great to ride in the back too (ok it is slow but it was also reatively cheap to run, every plane is a compromise) Miss that plane. We are about to step up to a G-IV-SP, I am looking to many years of flying the G at 465 knots and for 4,000 nms!!! and to making more great aviation memories in the years to come !!!!!

Need to determine if I can fly my mission, 3 pax and golf clubs, in an Eclipse. I have flown the Eclipse and found it OK to fly; haven't flown the other two.

  • Rich, I don't know about the M2 and clouds but another thing the TBM encounters is putting in the Inertial Separator for clouds raisers ITT about 30 degrees, robs the engine of a bunch of horsepower and slows the plane down significantly and as you say the upper 20s and the low 30s do have clouds to deal with.

    @TIO540S1@TIO540S12 жыл бұрын
    • Tough to beat the Conquest II on range, payload and fuel efficiency. Full fuel and around 600-700 lbs of people & bags for the M2 - practically speaking that gets you 1200 NM with reserve.

    • Depends, if Cessna are having a bad time against the competition or not. Honda, Phenom being more modern and popular. Cessna will keep delivering the M2 for sure, so it’s not over. My shock was having made contact with the sales rep guy, he came back with this incredible deal within days for an immediate deal, and had the authority to do it, telling you (maybe) they could still turn a profit at $3.4m. • This is a $5m aircraft, costs $1500/hr or $1m a year to run. The Honda Jet costs about the same but is a FAR better aircraft. The best single-pilot VLJ by any measure is the $2.3m SF50 Cirrus btw, and it has a parachute.

    @speedomars3869@speedomars38692 жыл бұрын
    • Weren't you the guy that said it was a $20 Million Dollar jet before? The Cirrus Vision jet doesn't come close in performance or capability to this. That's why it's half the price.

    • I think it does for certain people too. I do think a lot of people over estimate the total cost of an airplane like the M2 because it’s a “jet” and has two engines. My point is if you really look at those costs, you might be surprised and the M2 might be a better choice for your mission.

      @FlyingwithRich@FlyingwithRich2 жыл бұрын
    • Depends on what your mission is. If you can afford a jet and comfort, performance and safety are important, a jet always beats a prop (besides RWY performance).

  • You say people think these jets are expensive to run and maintain and imply that they are reasonable. Ridiculous statement. These aircraft, as pretty as they are, are even in "modest" form like the M2, only for the super rich. 130 gallons per hour? Who can possibly afford that? Most people do not understand how much that costs, let alone the maintenance, hanger fees, insurance, savage depreciation, airport and atc costs. A big family car with 4 aboard can achieve 55-70 miles per gallon. A corporate jet can barely achieve 130-160 gallons per hour at say 400 miles per hour average (after climbing then descending etc). So a corporate jet can only achieve a miserable 2-4 miles per gallon. A pathetic achievement. It's for the entitled very rich.

    @fingerhorn4@fingerhorn42 жыл бұрын
    • I find this a stupid comment. Sounds like you call anyone that has more money than you "the super rich". You should once look at a graphical illustration of a million vs a billion and remember that the super rich have multiple billions nowadays. This isn't the 60s anymore were 1 million USD was elite kinda money. You won't be able to afford a M2 Jet if you're on a $150k salary, but you will be able to afford it as a business tool for a small-medium sized business.
