Imagine denying education,job and give basic human rights to some just because "she is a woman" and that woman goes on to be one of the greatest genius and winning two noble prizes. What a QUEEN.
Imagine harvard turning away immigrants for people with far lesser scores merely because of their skin color. Pretty sure the racism and sexism exists today mostly in institutions.
Not to mention one of her daughters continued her work and developing X rays, her younger daughter however, had no interest in her family’s work and became an author. Ironically the youngest daughter lived longer.

I literally cried when I heard that the committee refused to give her the Nobel prize because she was a woman BUT there was a Swedish sympathisant of the committee who insisted to give her the Nobel prize and then it was possible that she wrote history to become the very first woman to receive the Nobel prize. His decision and bravery to fight for justice, ethics, morality, humanity and gender equality changed the course of history. He did because he had the power to change it. The only way to achieve equality in gender or race is if the discriminating party would stop discriminating. Sounds simple but it seems like an impossible fight since discrimination against women is the oldest discrimination in the history of mankind.
It's not sexism is the oldest,it's race and skin colour, religion and many more issues that prevent mankind from reaching potential of expressing their purpose of life.This discrimination is a Global phenomenon.The way I see it,each individual must focus on their own progress not try to teach or change the world.By seeing the struggles of oneself,he/she may grow out of the disease of killing someone's potential.The West among all were the cunning culprits for the past 1000 years of discrimination and millions of white women benefitted and guilty of it too.

Madam Curie and Tesla are my favorite scientists. They both were very selfless and dedicated to the science and humanity and way ahead of their time. They both suffered a lot and didn't cared about any money. True heroes.

If a genius like Marie Curie (the first to win 2 Nobel prizes) was almost denied a Nobel prize because she was a *"woman"* I can imagine tens of women were *"actually"* denied the prize because of the same reason. and we don't know about them. Really breaks my heart.
As a French guy, I appreciate the pronunciation of French words. It's rare to hear people actually taking the time to learn how french vowels and consonants are pronounced.

In a way Marie Curie’s death brought attention that long time exposure to radioactive materials was extremely dangerous and started to make people start wearing protection when handling them.
So Even in her death she saved millions of lives by giving the attention to wear protective clothes while handling radioactive stuff✨
Marie Curie is a role model for women. Her EQ and AQ were as high as her IQ. Albert Einstein's ex-wife was the top mathematics student in his class. He understood why women should not be underestimated. Marie Curie said she was taught that the way of progress was neither swift nor easy, and we can tell how humble and down-to-earth she was. Moreover, she and her husband did not exploit chances to get rich, they were selfless and lived for science and mankind. They deserve our deepest admiration and gratitude.
She was a QUEEN!!! Declining the honor in itself is a great achievement. it shows that all she did was for welfare of people and not for fame or prizes! Her contribution to science is an inspiring journey. Thank you for sharing it with us=).

I was amazed when I first read about her in school textbooks and started admiring her even before I had chance to learn about her hardships. She definitely deserves more than just a noble prize. Humans will be indebted lifelong for her sacrifice.

I visited Paris to walk the streets she walked and visit her in the Pantheon to pay her respects. My mom is from Poland and studied medicine and always told me stories about Marie Skłodowska. She inspired me to study Biotechnology and I really loved physics as a child. May her soul Rest In Peace.

Whenever people try to tell me women are lesser and would never make it into the real world without being given special treatment, i remember women like her who, despite being oppressed, still carved her name in history.

Prior to this video all I knew was that she was an amazing scientist that died to her own work. However, I never knew that she was an amazing humanitarian, from never patenting radium to her efforts to save lives during the war. She really was and is an amazing woman that all people can look up to; not just to women and scientists but to those too that seek the welfare of our fellow people.
Madam Curie's brilliance as a scientist remains unparalleled, but it's her compassion and humanity that has truly moved me.
if you have ever done something wrong, remember that there were some companies which had used Radium in Cream and Tooth paste, telling it will shine your skin and teeth.

She literally risked her life for saving and helping soilders!!. What a hero.
She also set up mobile x-ray units during WW1 and had to learn to drive and train other x-ray operators. The early x-ray tubes were not shielded. It is most likely it was exposure to this unshielded x-ray equipment that eventually killed her because when her body was exhumed in 1995 for re-burial in the Pantheon, it was not radioactive (from radium) as expected. Radium has a half-life of 1600 years, so if the radium had killed her, it would have been detected.
Marie Skłodowska Curie was a really great scientist, the fact that there was a high chance that her work would have never been recognised is astonishing.

What amazes me is that just because she was a women in a time and place where women couldn't pursue higher education or science, she found a way and laid the foundation for the most amazing advances in our technology that we are still learning a lot about to this day. For a lot of the people out there who give up because something is hard or seems unobtainable, remember Madam Curie did it in what probably was a much harder situation.
Person like Marie Curie shows the world how great it can be with strong minds.

Reminder: her name is Maria Skłodowska-Curie (Skwodovska), not Maria Curie. She was Polish not French, and she chose to keep her maiden name and wanted to be refered to with it. I'm Polish and it really bothers people here when people forget her maiden name, we are very proud of her! ❤
Great film, however at this point it should be noted that Maria's first and last name is Maria Skłodowska - Curie. Maria even signed herself as Maria Skłodowska-Curie and emphasized her Polishness in many situations. With this in mind, it should be said for the future that this outstanding Nobel Prize winner, pride not so much for Poland as for the whole world, was called Maria Skłodowska-Curie and we should all respect that.

The first time I found about marie is in elementary, where I read a biography comic about her. It inspire me, that she's a bookworm, a hardworking, a genius at that. She has been my inspiration that I became to love science, and I take engineering today. Now this just brings me back memories of that inspiration, just when I started to lose my purpose on studying, and doubting my future. I only knew half of the story from that comic. Please, call her by her full name - Marie Składowska-Curie. She was polish and Curie is only her husband name. She had to move from Poland to France, because at the time, women couldn’t studying at universities. She was very close to her motherland for her whole life.

These are the people we never learn about. As a child I always loved science but wondered why it was always men who lead the field. This sort of representation and history is so inspiring to learn.
Same, people fail to teach about these brilliant, genius, selfless and strong women. They should for the young girls at school to feel inspired.
