  • This game introduced its main villain in the last portion of the game and managed to be one of the most memorable and quotable villains of all time. If that doesn't tell you how amazing this game is then i dont know what will.

The only thing I can remember about Rising is that I got 3 levels into while still not really understanding how combat system worked because there's no penalty for just mashing like crazy. • I think Matt underplayed how much Platinum changed the gameplay. When I first saw the cut mechanic demo I was gobsmacked at how ambitious that was and how hard it would be to meld with a traditional action game. Platinum basically turned it back into a conventional 3D action game with moments of limited free cutting in very constrained environments. Platinum saved the game and made something great, but the original vision was extremely lofty.

The systems that were in the game were airtight, the performance worked well, and there wasn’t an abundance of glitches holding the game back. Really makes you wonder what the excuse is for bigger studios who can’t seem to get it right.
