Greased Lighting (I personally highly recommend) or pretty much any multi surface household cleaner would work on the test engine dirt you referenced in the video... your video is for those that do it monthly... it's a much bigger job to clean a real or legitimately DIRTY ENGINE... your process is legitimate, spray cleaner, rinse thoroughly, blow dry, run engine... Makes engines look amazing and, while being safe for paint and aluminum, will cut through any grease or trash I need it to.

  • For those worried about using water, just don't get water directly into your air intake or spray heavily onto electrical connectors. Just use a light spray that you would for watering plants to rinse your cleaning products off. And for those that don't have anything to dry the water off, I just used a few rags to get as much off as I could then I just started the car, closed the hood and let it idle for about 10 minutes, you'll hear squeaking probably from your belts for a little bit but that'll go away. Once I left it to dry a little I took it out for a wee drive to get rid of any small pools of water.

Plus, some of us just like things clean. I've thoroughly cleaned my engine bay a few times now since buying my new car meaning now I only ever need to do the odd 5 minute tidy up with a cloth and spray to keep it looking pretty.

I recently had new siding installed but kept the old gutters and small areas surrounding my house that weren't replaced so they looked horrible and dirty because of the new siding. I needed to get it cleaned asap. When I used the pressure washer, man it just melted all the dirt and grime that was on those areas of my house. I used that krud kutter soap and it was over after that. Easy to assemble, feels durable, very simple to use. Also, I purchased a used one to save money and there was absolutely nothing wrong with it. • Wonder what this product will do with a real dirty engine. Till then I stay stick to the meguiars wheel cleaner on the engine. Same method, spray it, wait a few mins and brush only the very dirty parts and rins with water. But would advise to protect the plastics with a protector anytime for a longer lasting.

  • A caution for anyone with an "older" vehicle...,All that rinse water and your engine won't start. If you have an ignition system that has distributive coils with exposed leads to the spark plugs you will need to cover and / or coat the coils / distributor and leads with a hydrophobic (water repellent) spray...WD40 or similar

    @tonysea9724@tonysea97242 жыл бұрын
    • There are many reasons to not do this at all. I would never spray anything into my engine compartment. If it gets really dirty I will just use a damp shop towel with water and dawn or water and simple green. The engine compartment doesn’t need to be immaculate.

    • I was thinking the same thing. I have a 23 year old car and it has quite a few exposed wires. I cannot imagine spraying chemicals and water over all those wires and expecting my engine to still work... I will not be attempting this method.

    • Very different products. If you try this stuff you will see that it restores plastics to look like new with no scrubbing. I have simple green and it's ok but this has a unique formula that floats grease away. I have never sen another product do what this does in the short time: amzn.to/2M4u3Es is unreal. • Good video, thanks. I will do the same this weekend but using Bilt Hamber All Purpose Cleaner instead, it's available in Europe and especially Ireland/UK where I'm at. For dressing I'd recommend ACF-50, it's super stuff but not cheap and ideally need a compressor to apply sparingly. Anti-rust and makes plastics pop too.

    @Edsdrafts@Edsdrafts2 жыл бұрын
    • What do you mean by dressing please, I am in the uk. Can you please send a link for the product you use to clean your engine

      @hunterfiona1@hunterfiona1 Жыл бұрын
  • Your engine only had a light coat of dust on it before you began. The edge of the red battery post cover is actually shining through the dust in the shot before you sprayed the engine down. Using Dawn dish detergent in hot water with a pump sprayer, and letting it sit for 20 minutes before rinsing will clean everything off the engine, even built up grease around an oil filter or filler cap... at a fraction of the cost of your cleaner.

    @barrybrum@barrybrum4 жыл бұрын
    • I see everything you wrote but like all my videos they and I are the real deal.as echoed my thousands of comments & responses. I am sorry but your soap idea will not beat or even come close. The engine you see had 60k on it and was 4 years old living in New England, not kind to cars. Cleaned 1 time per year as shown here and that's the result. I guess it truly is too good to be true, except it actually is. I have tried them all and wasted hundreds of dollars and time to bring this you.

      @Zeus-wl2pl@Zeus-wl2pl3 жыл бұрын
    • Agree. The best thing to do is stay away from washing the engine bay. So many problems can arise from spraying cleaning solutions and water on it, especially on older vehicles. I understand people doing this to show cars, etc but on an everyday driver it's not wise. I do the same as you but I use a mild engine cleaner and a cloth. Unlike body cosmetics, nobody is going to see underneath the hood. As for me it's not worth the financial risk to wash an engine.
