There’s a new way for Sims to generate income - by investing in Residential Rentals. As a property owner your Sim can live among their tenants and be a hands-on property manager, or they can live away from their investment in a separate residence. But don’t let them get passive about this income stream! Property owners will have to keep their unit ratings high through regular maintenance or they could wind up dealing with a Tenant Revolt.
Residential Rentals are more than just a way for savvy Sims to make Simoleons; they’re a way to bring communities together and tell new kinds of stories. Maybe your Sim is starting fresh in a basement suite, or maybe two young Sims become sweethearts after growing up in different units of the same duplex. You can now divide lots into multiple units, which creates new possibilities for what you can build. Finally we can build multigenerational houses where the grandparents live on a separate floor, but we do not have to control so many Sims at once

Those shared spaces make me so excited because there are soooo many possibilities with this. A shared gym, spa, a playground, a party room with a bar, a shared place for spellcasters, an art studio and and and..I've got so many ideas I don't know where to start, my head is gonna explode lol

We can finally have family members on the same lot but in a different household. So many possibilities with all these features as well, it sounds amazing.
However, I'm hearing there may be a loading screen for each household you want to visit which defeats the point, lol.

@@rakuloe But they already have that in CL. Though you're only allowed brief interaction before the other household sim disappears. So, I wonder if the shared spaces mean they will sit around and interact more with each other, or will it be the same which would be disappointing to say the least.
@@skywalker6648 Except that's often only the hallway. I would assume it works differently if you have a garden, gym or even a kitchen as shared space. Even if that all sucks, I'm still happy with multiple family members on 1 lot. And the whole building aspect of this pack. Guess we have to see how it goes.

The property system looks pretty intuitive! I love how you can fully tie in each room to certain units even though they are separated, how you can set up shared units, and how you can set up rules as well! And is that Indonesian accent I heard from the narrator? I also noticed some Indonesian/Malay words in the video (The lot is called "Sungai Point" and sungai means river). Can't wait to try this pack out!

That's just the lease term, SimGuruNova has clarified on twitter that the tenants will keep living and paying rent, you'd have to evict them if you want them gone.

I am genuinely excited for this pack! I wanted to build my own apartments and townhouses for a LONG time.
I am so much more excited for this pack than I was for Horse Ranch, which is weird because horses were my favorite thing in Sims 3. I really really hope it releases without any serious bugs.
Think of the combination of those packs. I'm gonna have a farm with multiple units and a biiig stable that can fit all the units horses as a shared space

@@xerosereify to be honest i understand why they put it into a different pack and not into cats and dogs. animals especially horses take a long time to create all the animations, i know they were all together in a pack in previous sims games but its been a while since then. graphics have gotten better, consoles and pcs are able to preform way better than 10 years ago. also people say there isn’t much in the packs but i find them pretty full but idk

It’s time to play multi-generation family in one lot where you get the nosy aunty (asking when are you getting married and how much do you earn), cringey uncles doing karaoke, wise grandma and your sister’s children running around. Can’t wait to see the night market. I hope it’s lively and happening!
You should go on on one of the bigger lots in the game (like a 50×50 or 50×40 lot) and build a neighborhood where they all live. Feature a park in the middle. With a playground and barbecue... and a long table with enough seats for all of them.

@MatineeSims yeah that's exactly what I was picturing... like the family is really close and lives in the same neighborhood... and the lot just gives us cozy suburban vibes... you definitely have the Aunt & Uncles the sister and her kids and everyone there. Maybe one of your family members stays with Grandma to help her out...And maybe not every house is owned by a family member... to make it feel nore like a realistic neighborhood... but maybe one of those other households living there could be who your Sim ends up marrying... maybe one could be her best friend and her family... etc. Well you may not have room for all that sorry I just have a lot of ideas now... in fact I wanna make a little neighborhood now for the pack to come out. I'm already making some crappy little old apartments.

It’s a close community, the children grow up together and become child hood sweetheart, eventually got married and have children. And I was thinking perhaps they have this food business, they sell street food/stall food, started out as rivals between 2 families and their children will grow falling in love eventually.

I knew the pack was too good for EA's standards, there had to be something wrong that we weren't aware of... Oh gosh what a nightmare will be to manage the units with a loading screen to access each one
Another amazing thing in the Sims 4 would be like multifunctional lots. For example, having a lot type like a bar/pub, and then being able to reside in it at the same time. Would love to see that! Or like retail lots merged with a functional residential lot type too. ❤
It will be interesting to see how this works with neighbourhood stories. For example if you can have your tenants have children etc - are you then liable to provide a bed for the child or additional rooms?
I'm gonna design different types of residences so there'll definitely be some family homes :) but I'm also gonna build things intended for single Sims who don't want kids, etc.
@@RedRoseSeptember22 I sort of meant like if a couple moved into a 1 bedroom appt and then the neighbourhood stories caused them to automatically have a baby would you then have to go in and build another room in the appt for the baby?

@@rynelic It was assumed that they would work like apartments from TS2. So they would kind of fade out, kinda like in the trailer. The units are going to be loaded either way if your sim is living on the lot.
Didnt they say you can rent out apartments that you don't live in (as in you can live in one house and rent out a second) ? so to fix an issue, you'd have to "travel to unit" at least I hope that's what that means

What I mean by that is if you have a save file and you wanted to build some custom apartments but also wanted to make/have a specific group of sims live there and not just randomly generated townies

HIGHLY doubtful. That's a whole different thing and by now we'd have heard something about it or hinting towards it. Personally I'd prefer they focus in on one thing at a time, ESPECIALLY when adding an entirely new tool like they're doing with this pack.
@@saddestcats EA doesn't make Sims 4, they're the publisher not the developer. Maxis makes it. However this tool could be the base for other functionality like having businesses be on a residential lot.

Here are tips for you. The V is pronounced like F (no vibration), the T is pronounced like the T in Tea & not d sound, and the R is always rolllinggg. Maybe you can understand better after this 😂

I was excited until I realized that there would be loading screens when switching between apartments, basically making them reskinned neighborhoods advertised as open-world apartments. The Sims 4 never fails to deliver a lackluster product.

This narrators accent is pretty strong its hard to understand if you aren't a native speaker. It would be better to hire someone that has better pronunciation next time.

not to sound too negative but with loading screen how is this much different than city living and how is this a gameplay trailer there's was no gameplay showed even with the new apartment feature it was just showing off the UI.
I'll finally be able to recreate my home. My mother RENTS out our rooms to us instead of us all being one household. We're each a unique household, because we're too old to not pay rent.

That's not unusual. It's just not called renting it out. You just help with the cost. I do that, but my parents don't rent out my room to me.
