Thats half of what you pay for with a anything. You not only pay for its value as ab object but the labor behind it. How and who else do you think makes everything you complain about? It might not be up to the highest standards but its a lot better than anything past sims games have brought and I ain't going to even verbally "punish" the employees (which they probably are having a shortage of like everywhere else bc of the times we live in) like one student did something wrong so now everyone has to pay. 🤷
@w_h_y1112 EA is a AAA multi billion dollar studio they're not some indie company. They have all the resources to animate. If there's an issue of paying employees then that's the issue of management. Besides games like rdr2 has 200hr gameplay, horses and amazing graphics and cost $60 once. This pack is 100% gamepack value

I hope we're missing something here, because this really looks like a game pack right now. As much as I want horses in my game, I'm not paying 40 dollars for some fluff. Edit: We unfortunately weren't missing much. The horses look cool and the world looks pretty, and I would be a lot more excited if this was a game pack. The way they did the pre-recorded livestream felt so suspicious. They "accidentally" hung out in the empty part of the world until the places in the "gameplay" part of the world were closed, but they were able to cut out a glitch and jump to showing us a kid riding a horse? Feeling even worse about it, and I think I'll be waiting for a 50% off sale to get this one.
Horses take a LOT of work, it would not be a game pack and doesn't even seem like a game pack. Buy it or don't, either is fine but you don't need to whine about it.

I kind of feel like the Sims team thought giving us horses will satisfy us, no matter the circumstances of the pack. This is a gameplay pack with the expansion pack price tag on it. This trailer didn't give anything away. Like we already saw this in the reveal trailer. Which I think confirms there is not a lot to do. This does not deserve to cost 40 €/$.
If you look at the comments, a lot of people are satisfied giving EA 75% of the price of a triple A release for nothing but bug ridden horses. The Sims community is absolutely insane, no other community would settle for less than the bare minimum time and time again.

@@ewe1686 A lot of the sims community are casual gamers and only play the sims. The DLC is insanely overpriced, comparitively speaking, but when its your only option, you're kinda stuck with it. It looks like EA is about to lose its stranglehold on the lifesim genre in the next few years with some key upcoming releases from other studios so fingers crossed they wont be getting away with it for much longer.
I'm satisfied. speak for yourself. Same over exaggerated statements made by disgrunteled simmers 10 years in and yet the game is still EA's best seller. Give it up. You're not speaking for the majority. Not even remotely.

All of our tack room and stall cc would be incredibly easy to convert over, and even the tack for the horses would probably be similar to s3 to s4 sim clothing conversions. Should be a REALLY easy swap! Tho since I play maxis mix in s4, I'm hoping modders come out with MM style manes and tails and such to match the game. Fingers crossed!

@@darkslayer709 those "unknown" developers are many old Maxis devs that either got fired by EA for corporate reasons (sacked just to make the numbers look better so greedy Executives can get bigger bonusses) or who quit on their own because of EA. if i am not mistaken they are actually the very devs that also created the Sims itself. so yeah i have more faith in devs who actually put love and dedication in their projects than in greedy EA which is known for rushing projects and delivering broken unfinished games just for their own financial goals and EA which has total disregard for their employees and customers.

This was just the initial trailer but with a voiceover with it. As far as I can tell, they've shown us nothing new. It's kind of crazy that this is being sold as an expansion pack when you look at the gameplay we've gotten from previous expansion packs.

This is not to be mean or anything. But horses take time to make, their movements and interactions are very detailed. Also horse we have been waiting for a couple years now and we finally got them. Plus I’m a consumer it’s just not my problem if coding was difficult or if the animation took forever (which again I believe to be highly unlikely). Unfortunately this “expansion” looks to add the same if not less gameplay to the werewolf stuff pack and that seemed to be more complex and very detailed. There’s no excuse but it’s very disappointing.

@CecilieLykkechr Fun fact, the America's did not have any horses until the Spanish brought them by boat when they colonized us. An European setting is more appropriate for a horse-themed game than an American one. Imagine if instead of ranch culture, you have a full castles and medieval cities expansion pack. (I know the castles kit is coming next year but that will never be the same as a full medieval World map) if you had a Spanish setting then the Courtyard kit would finally have a place to be. If you had a French setting then it would be amazing to combine it with Get Together. But no, the Wild West map again, for the freaking Third time! (Base game desert map, Strangerville and now Horse Ranch.) I have also proposed South American Andes region which have a totally different culture than the Amazon's so it is a well of untouched potential for a new world, and New Zealand where they could have used a s a base for a full fantasy world (Xena, Hercules, Lord of the Rings, etc were all filmed there) and use creative Fantasy build buy mode. It would go great with Realm of Magic. But no, let's get a fourth cowboy hat and a fifth cowboy costume in out CAS and call it a day. See what I mean? It is lazy game design.

I don’t know if this is unpopular but I’m not excited for this at all. The world and outfits looks like it was from the base game, and everything seems like an update for the farm pack. Every idea I hoped for has been soured, so I don’t know what I’m excited for with this game

I'm pretty happy about the build/buy stuff, I just wish I could say the same about gameplay as well. Where is the cross-pack compatibility??!! VETS, university biology career compatibility, wines & Dine Out, farm cats & dogs, pairing with Cottage living like being able to buy horse products from the farm market stalls, fears (fear of horses), do occults & horses have any special interactions, can we have a wine tasting club, is there an afterschool riding school for kids&teenagers, can you pose for a picture with your horse, etc?
Yes I was so so excited for horses as an equestrian, but the gameplay is relatively bleak. They must’ve focused a lot on the appearance and the design of the horses

Would love if you found a way for pets like dogs, cats, and I assume now horses to not take up the 8 slots and have slots of their own like in Sims 3. It would give me incentive to preorder because my current and only played sim family has no space to enjoy horses 😢 (unless there’s an option to “rent a horse” for a day or something).
Maybe you can befriend them and call sometimes, like the stray dogs and cats

The cats taking up 3 of the slots are already adopted and I’m too attached to them to give them up (had to have my sim family give up the accidental baby cats one of the surprised me with so my sims could have their own children lol and that was hard too).
Completely agree! They need to make a panel option of your pets/animals and have it NOT take up household slots.

It should've just been released as part of Cottage Living, no way is this worth a full price expansion pack on its own. There's just not enough here. It's Island Living all over again.

Can we take a moment to acknowledge the name Roberto Crinkletop? Like I'm not gonna buy this pack just cause it seems cheaply made and doesn't expand that much on what we already have. BUT, there's no way that Roberto Crinkletop is not connected to Agatha Crumplebottom, I cannot just ignore this
My first horse stuff is next that would probably being unicorns or pigs or something else..
If we would just get some way to grow sugar cane (or make sugar a different way) and grow crops to make flour, I could completely live off the land and live completely off the grid. I love this, I just also pretty please want to make ALL my own ingredients for food.

You can get those by icemunmun if you use mods. Her mods are very reliable, and she makes a bunch of new recipes, ingredients and functional objects like mills. I plant wheat in my game and use her mill to grind it up and make bread. :) You can also grind some of her veggies, like peppers, into spices and use them in cooking. She also has a dairy churn where you can make plant based milks and a patty maker where you can make black bean patties and use them in burgers. Edit: Forgot to add, she also has a sugarcane plant that you can make into sugar (if you use the mill) and use it in baking.

This looks fun, but kind of sparse for an expansion. I hope there's more to it than this trailer showed. I really want unicorns that you could discover like in sims 3 😭 Also hope there's cross-pack compatibility with vets in Cats & Dogs, but im not hopeful. The sims 4 team doesn't seem to be capable of inegrating packs, i still can't believe you can lead a hike in mt. Komorebi but not in Granite Falls??
I saw a leak today where a unicorn has appeared, so there's a possibility unicorns get added too, but don't get ur hopes up
I love horses and i really can’t wait for this pack but I think i will. I hope there will be a stream to show us more about this expansion (hopefully crosspack compatibility) because as of right now, I think it’s better waiting for this pack to go on sale 😅

Will animal treats from Cottage Living have any effect on mini sheep or goats, or even the horses? And can spellcasters bind horses to become familiars like they can with cats and dogs?

i do like how specific packs get and detailed, but would really like for packs, especially game/expansion packs to have more content. i'd be fine with a longer development for each pack if it meant for things at once. I think it's the prices that really gut this for me. If all animals were in the same pack it would've been better.

I hope I'm wrong, but it looks like the horses are only tied to this world which is a huge reason NOT to buy for me. What if you don't like the neighborhood? What if you're a storyteller? I really hope Im wrong and there just trying to show of the new world, but this trailer was lack and I don't know why we just didn't get a livestream instead.
It's probably like cats and dogs where you can own cats and dogs in any world but seeing them out and about is tied to the world

So basically the only 'significant' gameplay with this pack is horses? Nectar making? Like the fizz juice in Eco? Dancing, is basically base game. Community stuff? Sounds like welcome wagon and that welcome thing in Island living. Will the baby goats and sheep even grow to adult form? Like you know, how animals do? Is there a new community lot, like a casino? Will there be a new career? Unicorns? Or is that gonna be in a different pack with faries for 'mythical beings'? Maybe mechanical bulls? Actual other farm animals? Will this be cross-compatible with the VET career in cats and dogs? How about places like Cottage living, can horses maybe spawn there since it sort of fits that country lifestyle? There is so many things missing that its actual crazy. This is a gamepack not an expansion pack. Before you defend EA, just remember that theyre a multimillion company, they dont have excuses.

Well....this was underwhelming. No signs of unicorns and all the gameplay is everything we already knew. This 100% should have been a game pack because it's damn sure not worth an expansion pack price.
I think they really focused on horses' appearance and some skills and stuff. Could be more since it's an EP. But the other features of the expansion pack were simplified. 😅 I feel like we won't have much to do besides taking care of horses but at least they look cute.
The horses are so CUTE! I can't wait to see all the pathing bugs.

people saying this is a game pack who think that the family EPs were valid EPs do not realize how much there is to do with horses and how much of an entire lifestyle equestrianism is lol genuinely glad we're getting them in a sep EP to cats and dogs and farm stuff so that the devs could focus almost entirely on equestrianism. a s4 GP wouldn't do horses or equestrians justice at all.

Nah, just reused animation from previous packs. Plus horses for 40 dollars. It worths for the idiot too. ( As we say here) My theory is they didn't have corage to relase a horse pack for 40 dollar, so they take some animations from the previous packs and put them all together. I will be very curious for the actually gamplay video, maybe that will be as huge disaster as the wedding stories was. I still staying with my sims 2 game...

I get that it's hard to animate horses. But how is horses, mini goats & sheeps and nectar making enough content for an expansion pack? That is 40€ for just four things.
The horses are deep. At least two lifestages, breeding and different breeds, apparel, grooming, competition, the world is built around them etc etc. you say horses like it’s one small single feature.

For a small payment of $119.97, you could have a full farming experience with horses, dogs, cats, chickens, cows, and llamas! (Seasons sold separately as an additional $39.99 purchase) the prices are insane. Even with sales it'd be $60 not including seasons
