See everything is happening in the mind when you really detach from the concepts and labels then you are truly free you become what you really are and that is human nothing else. I'll be lying if I said I was free but I will admit I am a work in progress

  • Watts understands on an intellectual level. Many of us do, yet we are all still lost in the forest of thought, alone in a crowd of strangers, living through the suffering and emptiness.

  • Interesting!! I love listening to this Guru of a man!! Always good to know about other ways of life, religions & cultures - then being able to realize why you were born into the one you were chosen into & make it suitable for you and others. None is perfect, but the one you are in, can be suitable if you open your mind & learn to accept that we all come from & go to the same source - What we do here is different - Free will allows us to choose. Contribute to the good & take credit for the good that is & comes around, or choose evil and take the blame for the evil that is & comes around. Then as we age, we can look back and re-live pleasant moments, or feel guilt and regret the moments of our life. Just a philosophy of life & reason to rise above the mediocrity & the muck to be closer to the Angels that guide & protect, further from the demons that haunt & harm, & feel deserving when good things happen!! I believe Good is God. ✌!!

  • We are all gonna die physically. You can meditate, breath, pray, forest bath or anything. But in the end its same as going to beach, eating ice cream, watching movies because you are gonna die anyway physically. There isn't any particular action that is better than another. All are just appearing in the vast-open-all allowing consciousness. No wrong or right. There is the enlightement everyone needs.

  • I made a similar comment in another video in this series: It made an immediate difference in perspective regarding several issues of importance to me. At the same, I keep being somewhat distracted by the unacceptable quality of the transcription on the screen. It includes spelling and grammatical errors, and in some cases it is inaccurate to the point of changing the meaning of what is being said. In one case Alan says “arduous” but the text says “odious”, in another it reads “piece of mind” when the expression is “peace of mind”, and at least once it reads “it’s” when it should say “its”. A little careful editing and proofreading would only add to a wonderful lesson.

  • Budha did not achieve enlightenment.. he achieved Zero ..Just like Car having 4000 parts , each part is removed one by one and the car is still there . With the last part car disappears itself . So the zero is achieved removing all learnings from bearth till date at that instance any one can become Budha..

  • Enlightenment is final issue, first step you should be pure to your own thoughts every sec round the clock 24 hours, you must develop your screen to see you ,and to see others at the same, manner ,anybody can't willing to harm themselves, because they love themselves, it is because of their true nature the same you must develop to others human's also ,it is the real enlightenment path when you is situvated in the family life

    • As Alan says, "The Sly Man is the one who when he is going to leave town does so instantaneously without any prior announcement and so in this way there is shall we say a cunning manner of becoming a Buddha and that is to become one instantly without any preparation or warning whatsoever this is why Zen is called the sudden school and why Satori is a sudden awakening because it has to be done without the slightest warning now but then I pointed out that the moment you have any idea about doing this you've already ceased to be sudden that is to say the moment you seek for some spiritual attainment which is becoming a Buddha becoming awakened becoming release getting in there you've already served notice upon your creditors so that somehow or other you find that you have to do it without intending to do it and that is a double bind where would you impose upon yourself when you say I must find a way of doing this spontaneously that's the old old basic double bind you must be spontaneous you are commanded or you command yourself to do something which is acceptable only if it happens spontaneously then you think about that and say well well well what a fix that is here am I saying I must be surprised and I'm going to lay plans to surprise myself so by going through this you discover of naturally that that can't be done you can't surprise yourself on purpose yet that's what you have to do so what about it you come to a state of total paralysis you're stuck.

  • I'm not so sure a bodhisattva has a higher form of enlightenment than a Pratyeka Buddha. The Pratyeka Buddha gives up everything, wealth, fame, family etc. Some of those things are impediments to enlightenment or can be but many of them are not. Solitary realizers sometimes need sangha to straighten them selves out.
