In this video I wanted to see which was the easiest and most fun car to drive on a short technical circuit - rear-wheel-drive, front-wheel-drive or all-wheel-drive. So I lined up the new BMW M2 CS, Toyota GR Yaris and Ford Fiesta ST edition. And of course I also launched them to see how quick they are from 0-60mph and over the quarter mile.

It may as well have been a carwow vid because almost all of the out of car track footage was of someone that can actually drive. Carwow used to do the same thing. It's just sad really

@@JV8901 every turn with the M2 is pretty much close to death
It does that because the suspension setup is not ideal for racing, it should rather roll and keep the wheels on the ground. The roll center and cg are high. Also rear grip is good because there is lower weight on the back, and front grip is lower because of that. So in combination with that it lifts the wheel

In my country, Fiesta ST and Yaris GR are on a way different price range too... Fiesta is stupid cheap for a car like that
Mat should’ve include the normal M2 instead… the CS is on a whole different level than the Yaris and the ST.

Prices in Greece : Yaris gr from 40k Fiesta st from 22k , bmw m2 from 100k.... the st is the best for its prize
BMW M2 CS is a future Legend. No doubt about that.

totally agree. I'm 62 & I just love my 2015 180 every time I get into it. Sweet spot being minor/b-road blasts. Must admit, eyeing up an Edition in orange!

No he hasn't. He is decent but that's as highly as I would rate him. He missed some of the apexes by over 2 meters. A good driver would knock at least a second off of his times.

As an ST owner, i have to agree with mat, the standard brakes on the car aren’t the strongest or the most confidence inspiring. Some EBC braided brake lines, J hook discs and Yellowstuff pads make a huge difference. i reccomend that to any ST owner
Is that with brake disks the same size as the standard car and keeping the stock callipers?
@@marksapollo Yes. So change to some different discs, keep the standard callipers and just change the lines and pads. Worth every single penny
As an owner of the fiesta st..do you recomend to upgrade to better Brakes? i drive it mostly in city..Never driven in track
@@mixaliskirkiotis3254 if you just daily drive it I wouldn’t say it’s necessary however Doug simple little things can help in unexpected situations such as emergency braking. Better brakes also reduce insurance costs
Isn't the M2 CS on pilot sport cup 2's which are about 1-2 seconds faster than pilot sport 4s's on the Yaris just because of the tyre? So if the tyre is the same, the Yaris and M2 CS would have the same time roughly? I'm mightly disappointed by the M2 CS if that's the case.
Yes the Yaris is the best car here by far and best for money is the Fiesta
They're both great tires, I see a lot of people do this, it basically gives you the out out of the box / new / stock car results. You could swap to a stickier tire, but then it's like, ok, maybe it would lose a few more seconds with better brake pads, now you're adding a tune for your upgraded intercooler and bigger turbo and it's not representative of what you get when you buy the car in the stock form :D

If I bought a Fiesta ST, I'd definitely upgrade the brakes if I was going to track it.
That's the problem when manufacturers try and just "soup up" a driving school car - that's all it's good for 👍

@@tadassmolskas3014 go do your research, the GR has Yaris lights and mirrors, that's it - everything else is bespoke to the GR. Unlike the Fiesta, which is just a Fiesta with bits stuck on it. Nobody is fooled though; it's still just a Fiesta
I liked the Stock brakes for light track use, they're super grippy on the roads, a bit aggressive which suits the cars Fiesty nature, but pretty bad in the winter /snow if you wanna avoid triggering the ABS (super annoying and counter productive, I wish you could easily disable ABS, especially with those brakes).

I wish Matt had the i20N in here too, seems to fit well with the Yaris and Fiesta in that smaller, rally-type hatch category and I'd be really interested to see how it held up...

@@idocantasci the basic standard UP here had manual windows, the fun one was the Up TSI which is also being phased out because of Polo, Volkswagen here had too many cars that, their lineup was a mess, didnt serve brazilian market But still, nowhere near a Fiesta ST or as much fun....

Getting my Fiesta ST Edition next week. I dont know but its quite a good deal compared to a standard ST. IF you like the color and wanted an proper suspension anyway.

I picked up my Edition on New Years Eve, and the performance coil overs and flow formed alloys really do make a difference when compared to a standard ST.
